I thought I may try my hand on a pre-loved box calf bag one day. From reading this thread and Docride's thread, box calf seems to be the best candidate for a spa. If you have your box calf bag spa'd, do you find that H was able to buff away all the scuffs? Or only the light scuffs leaving the deeper scratches still visible? I've read conflicting things. Just want to set the right expectation. TIA!

Fabfashion- I tried docride's methods on my bbk28 and Courcheval 32 and Togo 32, and frankly the bags all looked better. So, I wouldn't limit yourself just to box, even though I have read many places on this forum that it is the one that improves the best. My box was not scratched up, so frankly, I saw a more-marked improvement in the other-2 leathers. Good luck!

Deep scratches will always show if you look for them, but as long as there's no color loss, box scratches tend to blend into the overall sheen of a polished bag. I'd take a photo if I had had my BBK spa'd as there is one scratch on the back that is of this type...I'm sure someone has before and after H spa photos of box calf. Definitely go for it!

Thank you, marbella8 and QF! I'm just a little OCD about scratches but love the look of a BBK. It's the epitome of elegance, so H. I love the patina. I'm just worried about the first scratch--I'll always know it's there. May be I should consider swift or evergrain but they don't have the patina. Sigh... I have a drag in chamonix that I got last year vintage but never carried that I'm still afraid to take her out even though I did docride's protection treatment. Silly me I know. :p

I'll keep an eye out for a pre-loved BBK without too many scratches and may get up my courage to pull the plug one day.

I completely understand, Fabfashion! I have a Rouge H box K28 (I think it's been posted a lot on this forum as I love it so much :p ) that is so pristine I rarely take it out. I'm ok with it as a special occasion bag because it IS quite special.
I DO use the BBK but I would recommend to anyone OCD about scratches to get one with a few marks already so you can live with them...if you plan to carry the bag, that is! I tend to buff the bag with Blackrocks pretty often and that keeps it glowing and does minimize not just the scuffs but the smears that happen on such a smooth leather. I would guess spa would so an amazing job as well.
Sorry to go OT, but Swift scratches too, does it not? My understanding is that it does AND is harder to refurbish...if I am wrong next bag is Swift as I love it. I know evergrain does but the scratches blend in pretty well.

Fabfashion- I have to completely agree with QF in that you should buy a great condition BBK, one with maybe a small scratch, but lovely otherwise. That's how mine was, and so I carried it. However, like you, I have small kids, and every time I have had it with me during the day, I am worried about it getting more scratches. That's why I reach for my Togo or Clemence or even Courcheval Kellys over the BBK. I must admit though, I took mine to dinner with my friends, one of which had her Chanel Lambskin-Jumbo Chanel with ghw, the other her black-caviar Chanel jumbo with ghw, and I must say that that was the moment when I realized what all the people on this H forum mean by Hermes-box leather. The BBK was in a league of its own, and not just because it was mine, lol, but because my friends told me that, and now are both looking to get K 28s for their next bags!

Good luck finding one you love and will use.

THIS! Great story, marbella and oh so true about H.

Unfortunately, I am too OCD about my H bags to ever even remotely consider getting a BBK ~ my heart would be broken in a nano-second by a small scratch.

Now, back to topic.

well it took well more than 3 weeks: 4 months, but they had to order the handle in paris as they say it's impossible to make it here in italy. and they put the new kelly2 handle instead of the old one.
pics before (before the handle was actually torn apart) and after, together with invoice. great job, bag looks almost like new.

wow amazing spa job!!

Some white B and K recently caught my attention. Aside from the difficulty of keeping it clean, I wonder how good the h spa is on white leather items. Do they redye it? Do the dirt and color transfer come off?

Please share your spa experience and post some before and after pictures if you have them. Thank you for educating me.

so my chevre b25 mysteriously got this stain on it:crybaby::sad::cry::

i've tried to remove it but it won't budge at all. i don't live near an H store but i will be in vegas in 2 weeks. should i bring it with me for a spa? the bag is otherwise in great condition (i guess the corners could use a little touching up but the corners don't really bother me) but the spot is on the front. any ideas on the cost to fix it? what's the best vegas store to bring it to? will they mail it back to me when it's done?
