I just noticed that the inner zipper tab of my kelly 25 was stuck. I can still use it to open the actual zipper. I just bought it last January. Do you guys think this will be a quick fix?

Even though H doesn’t fix the interior leather of the bags. I’ve had experience of them fixing hardware / zipper / regluing zipper tabs for me. So I think it’s definitely something they can take care of.

Do you think the spa can fix this white stitching in the middle where the closure is at the top, that is coming out? I just got this bag today and was looking it over, looks good besides this part... this is a 2020 jypsiere 28 gold.

I'll say probably. I sent my Kelly in for loose stitching on the flap and they fixed it.

ETA: They quoted/charged me CA$185

Here is the quote that I just received for my vintage kelly 28 ardennes from 1980.
I don't need the accessories as I have them at home. But holy smokes. It's still close to $4000! The gussets looks absolutely perfect but they claim the leather is weak and wont replace the handle without replacing the gusset. I am at a loss. I expected $2000+ but wasnt expecting a $4000 repair. :wtf: Am I misunderstanding what the gussets are? I thought they're the two side pieces on the kelly.

Do you have pictures of your bag? I am curious to see if that really justified!

She is in stunning condition. Handles have slightly softened from over 40 years of use. I circled the parts below of the slight tear. Too bad I didnt take closeups before I dropped the bag off at the spa in October 2024. It is ardennes leather and it took them 7 months to find the leather. I expected the $1490 handle, chapes, hardware repair cost. I dont understand the gusset repair for $1770. They claim the leather is weak and needs to be replaced. Weak where? It is ardennes leather which is one of their toughest leathers ever used and it looks pristine at the gussets in both structure and feel.

The kicker is that I have another K28 in ardennes in bleu marine that went through the whole process a year earlier. It was in similar shape as this one and they repaired the handles only without requiring me to replace the gussets for no reason. I purposely searched for these vintage ardennes pieces because I love this hard-wearing leather. I want to maintain as much of the vintage integrity as possible and don't want to replace a part unnecessarily.

After 7 long months, Im debating to have them return my bag without any repair. I paid almost retail for this old beauty. I don't want to add another $4000.

I guess they call gusset the side attached to the handle. I can’t believe that such a small part would be SO expensive to replace! There’s a small slit so maybe that’s why?
They might also suggest replacing them because you are adding a strap and it would put more weight on the gussets?
How about asking them without the strap? I wouldn’t spend that much on replacement, I agree. I would hope that they would repair and patch it up. It still in good condition.
Did you try insisting?
Otherwise just enjoy it the way it is and if truly it starts coming apart at the handle/ gussets, you can have it fixed later on.

The gusset is not the little leather tabs that are at the base of the handle. The gussets are at the sides of the kelly if you look at it straight on, it's to the left and right side of the front. I did ask them to reassess whether they could do it without the gusset repair. They said they couldn't. I decided to move forward with this ridiculous $4000 repair. This will be my last super vintage piece. It was supposed to be my everyday workhorse. SIGH.

In spite of the cost of the repairs , it's forever now, JMO

has anyone had this kind of yellowing on their handles? wondering if this is fixable myself or at H spa. tried using leather cleaning solution myself and didn't work 😿View attachment 6215427
Hi
I have a Birkin shoulder bag with a similar colour and leather type as you bag and it has the same discolouration, the Birkin shoulder bag is pre loved so I assumed it was a make up stain and it’s currently at the spa in Paris for a new lock.
If they mention the discolouration and give me a price, I’ll let you know what they say. I’m hoping to hear back from them next month as the spa is closed in August ❤️
