I stumbled across this thread when I saw @Jahna posting on the S/S 2019 thread and I have to say I think I've found my people. Pantone colors, coated and uncoated, screens and registration?! HIGH FIVE. I'm a graphic designer and I build artwork for production and print on press. I'm so happy to find others who think this way on here, what fun! I don't have anything in particular to add but wanted to exclaim that I love that this is a thread on here!

Hi @mcl1818, Happy to have you here!

Most of my career was in NYC as an illustrator, and I am certainly passionate about color. I bought my first Hermès there, for a paltry $5 (because it had ink stains and holes). I still wear that scarf today because it is so rich in color and imagery people never see its faults.

This is just kind of a playground for color, so post away. I shamelessly steal from the posts on Scarf of the Day with CWs that appeal to me, and I hope others will do the same. My knowledge is not NEARLY so extensive as that of @marietouchet, who contributes a lot here.

Make yourself at home!

@Jahna that is so cool! I would love to chat with you about your work as an illustrator, that's wonderful! I won't clog up this thread with profession questions though. I think it's the sentimentality of an artist to still have and wear your first Hermes scarf and that you saw beauty in it regardless of faults. I was still in college maybe 10 years ago and was chatting with a friend who worked in fashion. I was saying how much I loved Hermes scarves but couldn't afford one, naturally. Her immediate reply was "you're an artist, just make yourself a scarf!". And so I took a textile class and worked with dying silk scarves. Somewhere in me I've just always had a thing for scarves, I started buying them from almost every country I've been to with focus on what is done well there. Ie. vintage/linen/luxury in Italy, cashmere in Scotland, wool in Norway etc. And now lets just say my cup runneth over! The funny thing is I'm a walking space heater so my love of scarves is purely aesthetic!

I recently saw a scarf with water damage and extensive color run that must have come from another source but it was well hidden in the pattern and I was going to buy anyway. BUT then I came across the cw02 Jardin a Sintra in my H boutique. The moment I tried it on and saw myself in the mirror all my extra scarf money blew away like leaves in the wind. I was shopping with my mother, we decided we would share so it only hurt half as much. Some of my most often worn scarves are pre-loved since I think mentally I am not as neurotic about wearing them.

Thank you for so kindly welcoming me. I look forward to learning even just a tenth of what everyone on this forum seems to know about H scarves.

SOTD has 7 more colour-based themes this year, including a 7-colour Rainbow theme on 7/7. Jahna, I'm looking to you to join in the fun! :drinks:

Thanks @xincinsin! I will keep a lookout. Meanwhile, here are a few I culled from this week's SotD (btw, I mostly love EVERYTHING; just that right now I am particularly attracted by CWs that are kind of part of the same family):
