Love the McQueen - their blazers are always so sexy and have character. You know it is McQueen right away. For McQueen, if you don’t care about color, I suggest waiting for their sample sale in NY once a year that they have a ton of colored blazers for $250-300. It is the best sample sale.

My favorite is the embellished Schiaparelli, those buttons are amazing!!! ❤️

As for blazers, I like the “to see and to be seen” ones. I prefer spending a lot of money on “wow” blazer. I generally do not buy expensive blazers that could be from anywhere. In that case I prefer to buy more economical ones and only use them for my regular job. Of course you have to buy what suits your lifestyle; I go to a lot of events, galas etc. so I use statement pieces often.
Fun to know! How do you find out about the sample sale!? And I totally get what you mean about a wow blazer if you’re spending.

I have two other Schiaparelli pieces so I don’t necessarily need the blazer since I’ve quenched my thirst hahaha

Are there others you recommend I explore besides the ones I’ve checked that you love!?

Thanks for showing us your other possibilities! Given everything you’ve shared, I think your DH (and @SilkCouture ) are right re the RL as being more flexible and easier to wear But, I also think it makes a lot of sense to wait on this decision! Congrats on your happy family news :D

DH persuaded me to revisit the H tuxedo jacket when I went to pick up my men’s pants (I’m a Hermes size 38 men’s pants (relaxed, looser fit); 36-38 women’s pants) .

Everyone loved the smoking jacket on me after the tailor fully pinned the length so I purchased. (My SA said the gorge could not be higher due to the female chest lol). I do think it looks amazing in the original length on others; I just have a complete mental block and a hard time styling long jackets on me.

*ETA: I bought this smoking jacket specifically to wear with jeans and a tank top. IMO if one is contemplating this particular purchase, this one fills a special niche, not an all purpose one, in one’s dark jacket wardrobe.

If one does decide to discuss shortening this jacket with a tailor, they weigh certain factors as they relate to your individual body 1. Keeping the line and style intact; not hindering the pocket; and, what to do with the back center vent. So alteration depends on individual case by case. The men’s pants also required slimming down the leg and butt and shortening the length.

Can’t wait to see when it’s back from tailoring!

Thanks @sparklehop , @cecchetti , @Veritybelle , @Gin&H

@cecchetti , I think we have the same philosophy that anything goes with good jeans 😂

cashmere vest. Pockets are funny since you can’t put your hands in them unless you’re crossing your arms  But the fit was amazing so I’m going to accept it and just stick my hands into my pant pockets.

Waiting for the mosaique ascot shirt in noir to come in but this was actually one that I wanted last year when I first started shopping so I’m excited to finally get it! I need to get the magical matching pants I’ve seen on others lol.

Cropped embroidered jacket was cute and had such nice detailing but wasn’t sure how much cost per wear I’d get from it. Also had a cream one which was super pretty but I can’t handle another fantasy light colored jacket in my wardrobe lol.

I loved the twinset especially the cropped jacket but felt the waist on the outer long vest hit me a little lower than I liked…not quite made for a 5’2” person.

@Gin&H , I love the mosaique shirt in etoupe and the cashmere vest on you too. The fit is amazing and they look like great cost per wear. Personally, I think etoupe shirt is better than it would be in noir bc you can see the pattern in the lighter color well. I have the mosaic, appliqué beaded wrap skirt in noir. I wish I had known that it came in Etoupe at that time . . .

Re the vest you got and the one you passed, I agree that fit and waist placement are so important. I’m also convinced that Hermes doesn’t intend some pockets to be used 😂

@Angiebbb , is the McQueen SS at soiffer Haskins ? If so, I think @sparklehop can get on the email list.

ETA: @Gin&H , forgot to add no charge on the tailoring for either size 38 pants or size 36 smoking jacket

Thank you @880 !! I suppose RTW pockets will be yet another one of the great H mysteries 😂

I’m in a dilemma now…I already have the finesse silk button up shirt from last season in etoupe. Would it be too redundant to have the mosaique and the finesse in etoupe? 😂

@sparklehop and @880, I am on the mailing list for Soiffer Haskin, and I go so much there that they always invite to the previews the day prior. My favorite sales are McQueen (once a year in April or so), Valentino (generally a week after McQueen), Ippolita, Pomelatto (that is an incredible sale). I also love the frette sale 😍The sale for Valentino has a lot of catwalk dresses, embellished jackets, and the lace silk shirts that take days to make. The last sale they had dresses worn by many celebrities at premieres and award shows, as the fabulous mauve dress full of roses worn by zendaya. That is a work of art. We should do a field trip 😅

I love Armani, Valentino, Chanel, Dior, Bottega, Tom Ford, Saint Laurent, Balmain, Alaia, Brunello, Loro Piana, Vivienne Westwood, Victoria Beckham and Barbara Bui for the monochromatic looks. Also LaPointe for the jackets with ostrich feathers. If you are open minded you can find great deals in the Saint Laurent, Armani, Valentino and Tom Ford at Woodbury. A lot of catwalk pieces end up there. If you go there once and leave your contact, they always send you deals and they ship it to your home so you don’t need to go there again.

I also like Argent and Wardrobe.NYC (but they are not as fancy as the others).

I am in love with the poplin shirts from “With Nothing Underneath”. They are so economical and great quality for the price! I got the H micro shirt and it is not much different, but WNU is 1/10 of the price.

I love a great deal 😅😅❤️

@Gin&H, that mosaique shirt looks great on you! I love the colored ones!

Oh thank you @Angiebbb ! The etoupe does make the design pop. I also saw the pink one on the US website, which looked really fun but unfortunately I’m not sure how that would fit into my wardrobe. (BTW thank you for the above info! who doesn’t love a great deal? 😉 I’ll definitely be checking WNU out! )

I love the pink one, but my palette is vibrant autumn so I need to pass on that one. I got the vert bouteille and get many compliments on that green.

It’s almost a philosophical question for H RTW aficionados: how much etoupe does one actually need lol

I do think the finesse and mosaique patterns are entirely different and if you ended up buying both bc you wear etoupe a lot, then it would save wear on both. (they would last longer bc you could alternate). Also, IMO, the finesse is more casual (possible to wear with denim) and the mosaique a bit more dressy bc of the style and the tone on tone shiny/matte). However , thats definitely a more-ish philosophy.

If you said instead, pls give me reasons why these are duplicative and I don’t need both, we could easily construct the other argument…. Like, girl, they are the same color 😂

Love the vest on you @Gin&H and agree that H pockets often put form before function...I have a cream jacket from a few years ago with leather patch pockets that are so high on my chest that it's impossible to put my hands in them

I also like the twinset on you.

I love both shirts! The mosaique shirt comes in other colors. Last season a light grey color with a little blue tone was very pretty. Maybe consider another color? Could you share what size of the mosaique shirt fits you? Thanks!!

Well, be it a philosophical question, etoupe & noir almost go into the same level of need.
Like etoupe with white & neutrals in the summer, noir with etoupe in the winter & etoupe with
etoupe & other neutral shades almost all year around.
Whatever strikes ones fancy as in all likelihood we will never wear out our collections of H clothing, JMO
