I couldn't fit into the boxcalf Jumping, so glad H did a swift version and in etoupe no least!

I am so glad you got them (lovely souvenir from New York City!). They look great on you. Etoupe is totally your color, and I think Swift is a better leather for wearing when it's not totally cold.

I have been wearing my mocha Jumping boots a lot this season. I can't believe they are 4 years old. They still look great and I still get compliments on them all the time.

hi Tamarind...i am thinking of getting a pair in boxcalf too but wanted to ask whether you take extra care with the boots?? ie scratches, rain etc associated with box leather...does it hold up well with frequent use and does the leather stretch over time? thank you :smile1:

Some of you have already seen this pic in my reveal, but I thought it would be ok to repost an action shot of my etoupe boots!

CP love the boots!! Can I ask how tall you are? I had called my SA today and he said that there were boots made for the Japanese available but the length was the same. It was the circumference that was actually bigger to accomodate bigger calfs!!?? Hmmmm??

chincac, I was very careful the first year I got them, then became less so the longer I had them. I have two pairs in box calf and the leather seemed a little different in each. The mocha pair (in Jumping boot style) has thicker leather and seems more hardy. The black pair (in Bardigiano style -- the same thing but with plain buckle instead of Kelly lock) has thinner, softer leather even though they are both Box calf. I had them both stretched about 1/2 inch so that I could tuck in my jeans. Before that I only wore them with leggings and tights.
The mocha pair is still stiff, the black pair less so. I don't think they stretched that much, but it could be because i already had them stretched. I wouldn't mind if the mocha would stretch a bit more.
They both still look pretty new to me, with some barely noticeable scuffs at the back of the heel (where the bootjack touches it when I use it to remove the boot) and a tiny bit at the front. The black shows less but I think I wore them a bit less.
I don't wear them if it's raining or if I think it is going to rain that day. But I have been caught in light rain and have had to step in a small pile of snow a couple of times when it was unavoidable (just yesterday in fact). They held up very well.
I once saw a woman at the Madison Ave store wearing a very old pair of Jumping boots with her jeans tucked in. The color was lighter than mocha, kind of like a British tan. She told me she wore them every year in every kind of weather. Hers definitely showed wear and tear, but they looked wonderful. Seeing her boots made me feel OK to wear mine without worrying so much.

I have tried on both the regular and the Asian cut ones in Etoupe swift. The latter is about an inch shorter and much wider in circumference. I'm 165cm tall and whilst the wider circumference on the Asian cut is appreciated, I do prefer the height of the regular Jumping (more slender looking).

I'm 5'1" and got these in the States. I wasn't even aware there were boots tailored to the Japanese market. My boots are quite roomy, but my calves aren't wide. HTH!

IS the color etoupe versatile? I have a pair put on hold for me right now. I've tried them and they are really nice but i thought a mocha one would be easier to match.
My wardrobe is made up mostly of black stuff.

You ladies are making me feel like I NEED the etoupe boots! The fact that the calf is a bit more forgiving in swift leather is sooooo tempting since every time I put on my rouge or black boots, I have to pray that I'm not bloated or chubby that day.
