Quick question..So I just purchased a new to me 2020 Jypsiere 28 Gold with palladium hardware in excellent condition with the box, dustbag, raincoat and care booklet through one of the online sellers that are reputable. I noticed that there was a very small stitch on the interior flap that came loose. Being my first time buying preowned, I was still skeptical even though the site authenticated it themselves. So Iwanted it fixed and went to the Hermes store at the after sales section where an associate said they can repair it locally and do not have to send it out. She took it to the back to the artisan to look at it and maybe 5 minutes later she said the artisan looked at it and fixed it on the spot!! There was no estimate. Do you think that validates that my bag is in deed authentic even though the artisan had the bag in the back for only 5 minutes??? Is it that quick to authenticate??
I was expecting to get an estimate and leave the bag but when the after sales associate looked it over and said they can fix it locally and took it to the artisan to look at, I am assuming they would not work on a bag they would think or question it was not authentic, especially since mine was newer and would not need restoration or repair where the question of authencity would come up. I am sure these artisans and after sales personnel have a trained eye to see a fake bag in seconds on newer bags, plus this was a flagship store in a major city where there is tons of traffic. I kind of doubt they would touch a fake bag that was newer and smelled real buttery leather, had real invisible sticker, and stitching from what I have read looks authentic. It might not be a quick way to authenticate.
Some years ago Hermes got wise to the idea of taking in a bag in for spa as an authentication method.
It might get taken away for much longer for assessment;
somewhere on here I read that you might have to sign a waiver that if the bag were deemed to be fake it could be confiscated/destroyed
Ohhh I understand. I was going to use Bababebi(spelling) for a 3rd party even though the site that I brought it from, authenticated it but I really wanted the stitch fixed and thought let me go there first to see how much it would be if they can fix it and at the same time they would deem it authentic silently and if they cannot repair it, then that is the sign it is not authentic but that did not happen. So at this point, I will not need another opinion now that Hermes touched the bag.I agree with you
and your lucky experience is not un usual,
and I did believe that you took your bag in to make a genuine repair enquiry
You assumption that the artisans would not work on a fake bag, therefore yours is genuine makes perfect sense.
The experienced eye can spot a fake very quickly.
My comment was to warn against others using some repair ruse as a means of authentication and I repeat, that is not the reason you made an enquiry about your bag.
Thank you for taking the time to reply!the advice has to be take it in and see
Hi, I’ve recently sent my bag to the spa and have only received a quote with a breakdown of the services they are going to carry out.I sent my bag in to the Spa but I didn’t receive tracking information for it. Is it customary to track the process?
Thanks so much for sharing! Did you receive a paper copy to confirm they have your bag? Also how long from when you dropped it off did you receive a quote?Hi, I’ve recently sent my bag to the spa and have only received a quote with a breakdown of the services they are going to carry out.
I haven’t received any tracking details but you could always check with the Hermes store you gave it to as they may be able to track it for you. Hope this helps and I hope you have a great experience with the spa service!
Yes I received a paper copy when I dropped off the bag, and I received an email with the spa quote about 3 weeks later, (I’m in the UK).Thanks so much for sharing! Did you receive a paper copy to confirm they have your bag? Also how long from when you dropped it off did you receive a quote?
You are the loveliest and I’m so grateful to you!! Thank you thank you!! ❤️Yes I received a paper copy when I dropped off the bag, and I received an email with the spa quote about 3 weeks later, (I’m in the UK).
I’ve just checked my emails from a previous spa service and I received an email from the store with a “follow my product” button which shows tracking.
But please don’t worry if you don’t have an email with this, as I don’t have it for my recently booked spa service for a different bag.
I’m sure the store will be more than happy to help you, and from my experience I think timeframes can vary.
Hope this helps but if you have any other questions I’m happy to help (if I can)! 😊
