On another note, has anyone sent their Kelly in for spa and they are saying they won't touch the handles for the makeup service?

Does anyone know if Hermes spa can fix crooked stitching on a bag? If they can re-stitch, would they be able to repair the crooked stitch holes as well? :/ it’s a bag with contrast stitching.

Accepted first qb offer and was so excited that I didn’t inspect the bag closely but when I got home, saw crooked stitching and it’s been bugging me so much. Reached out to SA and was referred to after sales and I’m still waiting but I was wondering if any of you guys have experienced something like this?

The stitching holes are first made with a tine and if those holes are misaligned the leather cannot be replaced for new holes to be made.
Similarly the saddle stitching process means that two opposing threads are tightened against each other to close the leather together. This is what creates the distinctive stitching appearance. It does also pull against the edge of the guide hole.
This would not make the stitching appear crooked.

Thank you for this explanation :flowers:

My most recent experience is this very thoughtful refurbishment of a Sac Mallette 30 from 1946 (79 years old!). I'm so thrilled that the artisan in our local store who performed the services applied his care and expertise to not only bring the leather back to a beautiful, supple condition, but he was thoughtful in his recoloring and restoration to respect the age and patina of the bag. For those who read these threads and wonder about Hermes repair/spa services, they're wonderful. I can't recommend them enough.

Hi would you please share what the replacement cost of a kelly handle was, it looks like I'm going to have to replace a handle soon on one of my kelly bags. Thank you!!
Hello! A replacement handle was quoted at $1300, though this was last year. Not sure if repairs have increased since, but just so you have an idea!

Hi! Has anyone experience on piping this bad? 😅 I'd like this color a lot, and I don't mind slight signs of wear, but this is straight on broken. This is up for sale, not mine yet. I know that piping can be changed in theory, but this color seems unusual, does anyone know whould that be a problem..?

Have you any idea just how much work would be involved to
replace that piping? it wouldn't be dealt with using a filler

considering the inconvenience and cost of repair
I would expect the price to be thousands below the going price for a similar bag

I think that would be an expensive fix as it's possible the whole piece might need replacing for the best result, otherwise, any patching if Hermès even would do that might mean you still see the damage. The price had better reflect such a flaw as Whitebus says, and to be safe, as either a fix might be prohibitively expensive or unsatisfactory, I'd think long and hard before buying this bag.

Unless budget is a real consideration and this bag is priced accordingly, I'd pass and wait for another in better condition.

I know I couldn't buy this bag unless it was crazy cheap and live with that damage, but that might not be you. Just some points to ponder.

There will ALWAYS be another bag.
