I am looking at a beautiful vintage gold kelly in courchevel via a Japanese seller and my only hesitation is that there is some cracking on the handle. From reading through this thread I see that Hermes will replace handles, but I was wondering how that worked for vintage bags in discontinued leathers? Do they replace with a "similar" leather, like courchevel to epsom?

Thank you!
Hermes has a large collection of vintage and discontinued leathers.
Factor in the cost of a replacement Kelly handle.

Has anyone ever brought a B or K to be SPA and also requested for new hardware in a different color? (i.e., Original metal was SHW and switch to GHW). Aside for the huge cost and time , I wonder if this would be refused by Hermes.

The rule is that the original specifications will not be changed.
However I am aware of one exception: the single ring handle hardware on older Kellys can be changed to the current double ring style.

Would it be okay to ask the atelier if anything else needs to be fixed in addition to a cleaning? I rather have all servicing be done at once, but not sure if my untrained eye would catch an issue like cracking or stitching issues.

They’ll do a thorough look over your bag and then respond with an itemized quote for things to be touched up. When you drop it off, just let the SA know that you’re interested in having it cleaned up and any other maintenance the artisans deem prudent.

New to Hermes and I have a basic question that I hope to get some help. The closest Hermes boutique is two and a half hours away from where I live. If I drop off a bag for spa or repair, will they be willing to mail it back to me or do I need to travel again to pick it up?

Have to pick it up in person. They want you to inspect it and “sign off” on the repair.

Hi Everyone,

I have a garden party epsom I purchased directly from the Hermes store in 2017, this bag has barely been used and stored inside the original dust bag in my wardrobe (with it's own shelf and also pillow to keep shape) and away from any sunlight or natural light.

I recently noticed there's some rectangle box shadow marks underneath the all handles where the V part is sewn on. It looks like there's a fault or discolouration in the leather. I've gone through as many threads as I can and also done Google image searches to see if I can find something similar but I couldn't find anything.

In an instance like this, what should I do? I know that H stands by the quality of their craftsmanship but given the bag was purchased in 2017 and it wasn't picked up until recently, I'm not sure if I have anything to fall back on?
I have had a similar experience at Chanel where a clutch I purchased had a discolouration of blotches appearing after 2-3 years, it was also in pristine condition as only used for special events, when I took it to my local Chanel store they couldn't work out what it was but given I had a purchase history with the store, they sent it to Paris to be looked at, when Paris received the clutch they admitted that there was an issue with the leather treatment, the SA called me to apologise and offered me a credit note to the full value of the clutch.

Does anyone have any experience similar to mine?

Thank you!

Depending on how long it was like that, just letting it sit out and massaging it a bit may help.

Not the same but I had calfskin YSL bag that some movers packed incorrectly leaving a huge mark on the bag. After about 2 weeks of sitting upright, the mark was 80-90% gone
Thanks! I did exactly what you recommended (and my SA did as well) after sending her a pic and the spot is gone. I quadruple checked the tissue paper and dust bag for wrinkles before I put her back in the box. I have never had anything like this happen before.

Pictures would help but in general, your only option through Hermes would be to take it into a store and ask for spa services. It’s likely that they will not cover the fees for you at this point since the bag is several years old but it’s worth having the conversation to see what they can do. Cleaning/touchups is generally a charge of a few hundred dollars.

Hello

Am looking into a togo birkin second hand and it is missing clochette and key set.
