Btw does anyone have an idea which color this actually is? The SA had no idea and I have no invoice or other documents available as the bag is from 1993.

I would actually say that is Natural. Especially the inside matches Natural perfectly. It can be easily confused with gold in pictures! Gold is slightly more red in reality ☺️ I also inherited a Kelly from my grandmother in that colour 🥰

Question, I hope it is on topic to ask here. I plan on taking one of my bags out of country and generally abusing it.

I saw a Youtube video about a destroyed blue Birkin being repaired... in which the craftsman took the entire bag apart and generally did an excellent job with the repair. That video, I decided I do not want 3rd party repairs on my bags ever.

What is the limitation for Hermes spa repair? Inside the bag and what else? Abuse: possible pin holes and sticker residue on leather, scuffs from tables/tile/concrete, stains, relaxed shape, so on.

Don’t really think there is a limit other than money. They can replace entire panels of the bag, replace handles, replace hardware. All at a cost. There have been posts where Paris came back saying the repair wouldn’t be financially viable, but don’t believe I’ve seen one where “it cannot be fixed”.

There is a video somewhere where a former artisan was talking about a repair to a Birkin that I believe was water logged. She had to work on it outside on the roof of the building to repair it, but it wasn’t a “this cannot be fixed”

For the most part, repairs are up to the discretion of the repair person/people fixing your bag. How far they want to repair is pretty much up to them. I have seen and received both zealously and lazily done repairs. As long as the leather and colour (or suitable replacements) are available, the sky (and your budget) are pretty much the only limit!

My boutique management is lacking, and it's an ordeal to get emails or phone calls returned - does anyone know of a way to check the status of a repair?

I have an order number starting with HCD in the original email (which took over a month for them to send me, I brought the bag in in August and didn't receive the repair estimate until October) but the "Estimated Leadtime" field was left blank. I've reached out several times to request an update but I haven't received a response. This was a simple replacement of the metal hardware on a vintage Herbag, and I'm frustrated by the lack of communication.

Have you visited the store to ask for an update?
I had a similar frustrating situation; I got my resolution by visiting the store, being calm and patient, while they worked out the issue.

The short answer is no...
The long answer is that I'm in Florida and the mall where the boutique is located (and also Whole Foods, Trader Joes, basically anywhere nice) is a nightmare until Easter/the snowbirds go home. It's like people surrender their turn signals and their peripheral vision as soon as they cross the state border.

I feel like I heard someone talking about a website where they were able to log in and view the status of the repair though?

There should be a link in the original intake email that lets you follow the progress of your repair...was that also left blank?

Edited to add, if the bag went to Paris, try https://www.hermes.com/fr/fr/aftersales/storecard/?id=YOURSPANUMBERHERE . You could also email Apres-Vente at FSH. HTH.

I did a search but didn't see a specific answer : can I use some type of leather conditioner/apple guard, etc. whatever on my bags without them being rejected for spa service later? I have been considering a light colored bag and want to guard against color transfer. If I spray it/treat it with something, will they still work on it? Thank you.

I really really wouldn't spray the bag with anything that may help prevent colour transfer to be honest.
In order to do that presumably it puts a coating on the leather. Leather needs to breathe, but that aside it will also prevent any future leather conditioner penetrating I would assume.
Apart from the fact that spa may reject it, it's just really not a great idea. I have used a very light conditioner on an older bag between spa trips before (just when the leather has felt it was getting a little dry), but this is a fairly old bag and I'm not about to send it to Hermes every year, or even two years (given the wait time) just to moisturise it.
So far touch wood this hasn't prevented them looking after my bags. On a newer bag I really wouldn't put anything at all on it.

If colour transfer concerns you I'd either pick a darker bag or wear lighter colour clothing. When I have had minor colour transfer on a bag after a day out (although this was Moynat, not Hermes) a damp cloth wiped it straight off. This isn't guaranteed to work though, I guess it depends on the extent of the transfer, what has caused it and the type and finish of leather it is on.

Hi all. This SO B35 of mine is about 10 years old. Stored perfectly in its original box (always). There hasn’t been anything pushing up against it to make this mark. I haven’t carried it in about a year. I just unboxed it. I will be sending it to the boutique but I’m just wondering if anyone has seen ever an imperfection like this?

Depending on how long it was like that, just letting it sit out and massaging it a bit may help.

Not the same but I had calfskin YSL bag that some movers packed incorrectly leaving a huge mark on the bag. After about 2 weeks of sitting upright, the mark was 80-90% gone

I am looking at a beautiful vintage gold kelly in courchevel via a Japanese seller and my only hesitation is that there is some cracking on the handle. From reading through this thread I see that Hermes will replace handles, but I was wondering how that worked for vintage bags in discontinued leathers? Do they replace with a "similar" leather, like courchevel to epsom?

Thank you!
