Hi all, I’m considering buying a Halzan in clemence in trench color. The seller has disclosed these stains that appear to be ink or makeup. Based on your experience, can sending the bag to a spa get rid of these stains? Thank you View attachment 5914564View attachment 5914565
If the seller tried to reduce or eliminate these stains and failed, it's not a good sign (most H bag owners know to clean a stain as soon as it happens, and certainly one would try before selling a bag). I have had a bag with ink stains, and while many of them did come out with some very careful cleaning, some were too stubborn. Finally, as @Virevolte says, some of these appear to be interior stains.
When purchasing a bag with markings like this, best to assume they will be there forever and be able to live with that.

Hello,
Does anyone know if scratches and corner wear on courchevel and Togo is fixable? I’m looking to get a vintage bag that will definitely need to be spa’d but just not sure if Hermes would be able to fix it

Thanks!

Corner smoothing (where the grain has worn flat) cannot be fixed, but it can be polished so that it is less apparent. IMO corner wear shows less on Togo than Courchevel. If there is color loss, the polish wears off eventually and the color loss shows up again.

Do you know if this corner wear is fixable? or is it considered severe?

I am sorry to say that in my experience, this can be dyed/touched up but will eventually show the color loss again (you can touch it up yourself if you are willing to do so). The scuffed texture of the corners and piping will never go away.

Is it severe? It's not unusual for a bigger Birkin that has bumped into and scraped against many things but I have a B35 that's at least 12-14 years old and has been used a lot; I haven't babied it; and I do not have any scuffing remotely like this, just a gentle smoothing at the corners. So I would say this is not extreme, but is very noticeable wear; the price should reflect that.

I was very irresponsible and took my new ostrich blue glacier to the dentist. I initially thought someone dropped water on it but after 24 hours this is what my bag still looked like. (Also see the peeling on the bottom right? Received it this way but didn’t bother to ask if it could be repaired.) I contacted my SA and was able to bring in my bag to my local H store.

After 48 hours at the boutique with the service dept, this is what I picked up!

Extremely happy with the results and glad they were able to fix the ostrich spot peeling. Love love love this bag!

Has anyone successfully had Hermes Spa fix a bag that was previous worked on by a third party? I have a bag that has been repainted and slightly repaired and was wondering if all of the previous work (paint/filler) was removed if hermes would work on it?
I know this is old, but in case you’re still curious: I just sent in a ‘07 trench k32 from Japan that apparently had been painted by a third party unbeknownst to me. Hermes still accepted it for spa to replace clochette/tirette, restitch, and replace gold hardware. They only would not do the full clean and makeup due to not knowing how it would match (understandable). They would still spot clean small stains though.

I don't see why not. The S just indicates it was a sale item, if followed by a code it links it as a sale to a specific employee.
A shooting star that indicates a bag was made by an artisan to keep for themselves that might cause a problem.
The argument being that an artisan should have the skills to repair or spa a bag his or herself.

If it's a vintage SS bag, Hermès will usually accept for service as they know these bags do change hands over the years, a newer bag might be a different story but SS bags of a few years old should be accepted according to a reliable source.

I have sent my Vintage Kelly 28 in Vache Ardennes to the spa beginning of June 23. I’ve inherited the bag from my beloved late mother-in-law some years ago. To be honest I think the bag has never been sent to spa before.
Roughly 2 months later I got the estimate:

Estimated lead time is 25 weeks  they will replace the top handle, which is the major cost driver.

I an astonished they agreed to renew the stitching on the inside pocket because I thought they won’t do any work on the inside of the bag. Maybe because it’s vintage? Anyway, I am not complaining
I really hope it will be worth it but reading all your posts and seeing the images of the brilliantly repaired bags gives me hope
Hope this might be helpful for others.
I got her back  it was a bit quicker than expected and the result is amazing.

Btw does anyone have an idea which color this actually is? The SA had no idea and I have no invoice or other documents available as the bag is from 1993.

If someone can please elucidate: On this forum, how exactly do we define "vintage"? I've seen the term being tossed around by many different people to describe what seems like many different periods of time

Is it the same way we define vintage for automobiles, i.e. >= 20 years old? Or are we talking 40 years or older?

TIA!
