Hi again,
I did end up actually buying the bag, despite everyone’s detesting. I am happy to report that the handle is perfectly in tact, but does look like the glazing could use a bit of touch up. There are absolutely no cracks, but minor wrinkles. I’m 99% sure it’s authentic, but I will have it double checked by bababebi. I was so nervous to unbox it, but I’m over the moon. It really is a beautiful bag

Congratulations. The bag is beautiful and so happy it's in great condition.

Let's be honest though, you asked for an opinion here and folks took time to look at the bag and gave you their honest appraisals. That's not "detesting", it's what you asked for. No one was rude or mean, in fact there are some very considered and fairly long replies (and I am not talking about mine but about some very experienced forum members). If you just wanted agreement, there was no reason to ask for people's time or opinions.

We are now wayyyyy off topic for a spa thread, including a reveal, so to get back to topic, dropped off a very very very vintage Drag recently. Doesn't need anything but possible strap replacement, but needs a full and heavy duty repolishing. I am waiting for a quote but this email is so lovely (translated roughly):

"Mademoiselle, (some personal stuff and chat redacted) your vintage Drag I sac is being assessed. It always makes us happy to see a bag from the heritage of the house. I can't say for sure but I believe for something special like this, the pricing will be gentle, as it's not often our artisans can work on a bag that has lived three iterations and almost sixty years."

The email you received encapsulates the reasons why I love Hermes!

Please post a picture of your bag before spa if you have.
Then after too of course!

Respectfully, I never once asked the question if I should buy the bag or not. I asked about certain things I saw on the leather and was curious as I’ve never owned a box calf and I’m not too familiar with the leather. For some reason, everyone wanted to jump on the bandwagon and give me their opinions about purchasing, which not to be rude, I never asked for. I do appreciate the thought out responses I received, but if I wanted to get someone’s opinion about purchasing or not, I would have went to docride as I trust her opinion the most tbh. Like I’ve stated before, rather someone should buy a preloved bag or not is highly subjective. Something I think is rubbish someone else might think it’s gold. It all depends on the wants, and desires of that person. Didn’t mean to sidetrack the thread. I just wanted to let everyone know the bag was a great find, but like you said, please do carry on

I am sorry that so many of us mis-read your initial post, but your very words were:

Hi,
I’m interested in purchasing this Kelly 32, but 2 things concern me. One being the leather looks like it might be either very dry or cracked. I can’t tell. And two there’s some other type of marking towards the bottom. Is it worth purchasing? It’s the only thing I’ve found around my price point.

The inference was that you were asking whether it was worth you buying it, not some generalised abstract question.

Sorry for that. That was not my intention. I was interested on getting clarity on what was on the bag. There were certain things I wasn’t sure about, so I was looking for more info from other fellow box calf owners, so I could make a proper judgement call.

Is it worth purchasing?

would caution anyone who has a limited budget not to buy a bag that may need Hermes spa and handle replacement.

Another place to get an opinion is @docride ’s Lazarus thread

everyone’s detesting

Congrats on the bag. As I said, in the future, instead of posting on the Spa thread, you might want to consider posting on @docride ‘s Lazarus thread (link in my post above) And here: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads...hread-can-this-hermes-be-saved.972522/page-97

The Lazarus thread specifically addresses your original query: a request for opinions on whether you should purchase (As per your quote above (emphasis added) and as per @WhiteBus, @maxroxxherhandbags, and @QuelleFromage etc. No one detests your bag, and plenty of us have bought fixer uppers and been pleasantly surprised. Since you are relatively new, pls be aware that all members are encouraged to voice their opinion in a polite manner and hit the ignore button* if a comment is disliked. Polite disagreement isn’t personal. For enthusiastic support on new H purchases, there is another thread you might like : https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/what-is-your-latest-hermes-purchase.886190/page-3273

Since this is the spa thread, posts opined as to whether it was worth the cost of rehab based solely on the pics. The cost of handle replacement of a kelly could be about a quarter or more of the cost of the entire item, and I’ve had a kelly whose handle was fine (at least to my eye) that H recommended replacement on bc the area where it attached to the shoulder was iffy.

@lurketylurk , H spa did replace the fabric portion of a strap for me a long time ago. Perhaps ask if they will do that? I don’t think they will repair frayed edges, but I could be wrong

*to ignore, click on a members name on the sidebar and choose other options, then select ignore

Can I just say that I really appreciate your feedback and the way you word things! It was my mistake making that initial comment, going forward if there is something I want to know about purchasing, I will go through docride’s thread. I will however be posting my bag again here as I will be taking it in for some condition at Hermes, and would love to post the results!

Hi! I've gone back at least 15 pages and into 2022 and do not see the answer. Does anyone have a pricing on cleaning and lock replacement for a b35 in togo? About how long does it take? I am in the US. Is this something that's done in store or shipped to Paris? If the search queen @880 lol has the post/page saved can you share it with me or direct me to it, please?

I am thinking about a b35 that I found online at a reputable reseller. While structurally good, 2019, very little corner wear, stickers still on (yikes!). I see a couple of spots on it that I don't like and looks like need an overall cleaning/refreshing - the color doesn't look as bright (maybe just the pics) as other pics I have seen. I will post pics when I receive it. Thanks for your help!

ETA: found the pricing thread! Please disregard!

I’m in the US. In regard to the timing, I dropped my b30 off for cleaning and hardware replacement in mid October and it was shipped to Paris. The online status shows it shipped from Paris on 4/20 and I am still waiting for it get to my local boutique :(. I did call and ask and they said it should be very soon. Hope this helps!
