Can I ask which store this is?? Are you based in the US? I had an after sales appt in NYC today and the associate told me that all leather goods go to Paris. Wallets, handbags, everything... and it's a minimum of 16 weeks. I thought they only sent to Paris if the bag was in bad shape or needed specialty work?
There are artisans at several of the US flagship stores - they can't do everything but by no means is every leather good sent to Paris. I've had many many repairs done in the States.
Hehe, I'll post a picture of it! I've seen them in black mostly but was chuffed to find it in a light beige (poudre?) color on auction!

I appreciate your insight on the hardware fitting the bag better--it makes sense to me to keep some of its vintage character! At most, I think I'll try to get it cleaned and see what I can do about the cracking on the flap and sangles.
Lovely bag! Not a shoulder Kelly (that's the long skinny Gaultier bag), an original Mini Kelly I!! This is a GREAT find in a rare color and from a time of great craftsmanship.

I have actually been allowed to keep parts from bag restorations, including old straps and hardware and even a bag panel, but only (I think) because I was directly interacting with the person doing the work. FWIW personally I would definitely not change the hardware. It's in great shape (IMO) and fits so well with the character of the bag.

Oops--thanks for the correction! I was unsure what to call this, so I just went with the auction name! My first searches for "mini shoulder Kelly 20" definitely brought up the long Gaultier one, which confused me, haha.

I'm planning on going to my local boutique to send it in this weekend. Will post follow-ups as they come!

Some of the origin stories may be somewhat apocryphal, including messy or unhygienic stains inside ranging from makeup to pet-related or worse. It is generally stated that cleaning the inside of the bag is a "personal area" and outside of the scope of the spa service.

hm that is so interesting, i wonder why they don't
Yes very interesting. I'm going to Hermes and will look into the spa and I hope it can be cleaned by them (the interior amd exterior). If not, I hope I can find someone that can or find a product that will clean it at least. If the color transfer is stained that is fine but I do want it cleaned as it is soiled.

Oh that is great to know the interior can be cleaned. 3 youtubers stated Hermes will not clean the interior. I have a vintage Hermes Ostrich Fonsbelle that I need to get cleaned in the exteriorand interior. Lining is leather and is lightly soiled and has what looks to be pink makeup stains or some type if color transfer. Feels like lambskin. Bag is white. Yikes.

I was 100% certain of this and the after sales associate told me EVERY leather item goes to Paris. I knew this wasn’t accurate and kept pushing back, but she stood firm on her belief that everything goes to Paris. So, I thought maybe the policy changed.

Now I have 2 bags and a clutch going to Paris for spa when they probably could have been worked on here in the states and been finished much quicker.

Lesson learned, I’ll just go to Madison next time.
Still very annoying.

I’ve had very minor repairs done recently at Madison, and these have taken months (not just a couple of months either). I’m not sure Madison could have been any slower. Just my experience.

Question - is it normal for the online status of the spa / repair to be inaccurate? I dropped my birkin off for spa and replacing hard wears early October and they said it should be ready around May. The status online showed it left Paris in late April so I kept following up with the local boutique (I’m in the US) and they couldn’t locate my bag until this week and their response was that the online status was wrong and it just now shipped Paris and it will take another month or so. What are your guys’ thoughts on this? Am I crazy to think that there was something weird going on ….?

Hi Friends!

I'm currently looking at purchasing a pre-loved Lindy 30 on eBay, it's from 2007 and is listed with 2 small scratches on the Clemence leather. Having no previous experience with Hermes, I'm wondering whether or not the spa would be able to fix these? Second and third photo show the scratches. And advice would be so appreciated.

You should consider whether you would be happy with it as it is.
It is good that the seller has declared these scratches and provided good photos.
Imagine you had owned it, perhaps from new for fifteen years, and over a period of time those scratches had been sustained. Using Docride's 'assess from a metre away' advice, I doubt whether you would be unduly worried.
Would you be happy with it to use it as it is and send it to spa after a little while should you still feel the need.
Spa would undoubtedly camouflage the scratches; there will probably be some members who have sent similar scratches to spa and have the bag returned with the scratches gone. Consider that with these scratches the very top of the leather has been caught, lifting little points of the leather surface and revealing points of the unfinished layer below.
