natural striations in the leather.
+1 also with the advice to enjoy the unique qualities. Since you are concerned, I would take it to H Spa to confirm for peace of mind. JMO, and I am not an expert, but I cannot imagine how an owner could have caused these lines and don’t think the issue was storage. Alternatively, or in addition, perhaps consult on @docride Lazarus thread.

Note: I’ve had some H spa services where the bag returned looking like not much had been done, and also when the bag looked brand new after spa. So, sometimes I use H Spa, and sometimes spa by @docride (the latter being quicker and more responsive to specific requests). But, FYI, I have never had a bag refused for H spa services. But, to be completely safe, if you want to use H spa, this forum generally advises not to undertake any third party work.

@Goldenbelle, H spa will replace leather clochette, lock and keys. Bring your bag when making the request.

It's certainly worth taking it to an Hermes Boutique, especially one with a craftsperson on site, and asking if the lines can be minimized or removed. If nothing can be done by an Hermes spa treatment, it's a gorgeous color. Maybe you could embrace its uniqueness and love it as it is.
Thanks MillStream for the advice! I will take it to my local H boutique to find out, also love your point of being open-minded about it

It's funny but it looks almost like natural striations in the leather. I've seen them like this in Barenia, but I'm not sure if they're possible in swift! Maybe stretch marks from use? That said I had a rub mark (self inflicted ) on the front of a swift Birkin and after spa it looked the same, so I'm not sure if they can / will repair colour in the middle / across the front of a whole panel. Corner rubs and fading yes, but maybe not that.
It still looks gorgeous though, just my opinion but I'd embrace the variations in the leather and just enjoy it
Stretch mark is the perfect phrase to describe it - they do look exactly like stretch marks to me in person haha!
I know right, I didn't expect swift leather can ever look like this - that's why I wondered if they were due to long periods of exposure to direct sunlight through blinds. Thank you for sharing your experience and the kind words

thank you 880 for the really detailed advice, super helpful! I'm glad to know that there's an alternative option available and also I'd better prep myself mentally before the H spa as the bag might end up looking the same. Yeah, I was just purely guessing if the lines were due to direct sunlight through blinds haha.

Hi All !
Am a newbie to buying vintage Hermes, your help is appreciated

Are the hardwares on vintage kelly or any vintage bag for that matter can be replaced by Hermes spa with new hardware ?
It is possible, even likely, but not guaranteed. If they don't think your hardware is defective, they don't have to approve a replacement. I would not buy a vintage bag assuming you can change the hardware. (Honestly I wouldn't buy a vintage bag if you'd prefer to change the hardware, as it is generally suitable to the bag.)

I’ve done this several times, but it has to be approved by H spa. As far as I know, even if your request is accepted, SPA will not update your HW to double rings or change its color. I have only done this with Kelly and birkin bags, and if your bag is unusual as well as vintage, I don’t know much about that process.

ETA: I thought that someone here posted that Kelly HW could be updated to a double ring, but that does not seem to be the case.

Spa will definitely not change hardware color.

I've seen multiple posts saying that spa will replace Kelly single rings for double only IF the handle is also being replaced (and a few saying they'll change the rings without handle repair). I personally doubt they will change the rings if not also changing the handle (this makes sense, since the handle on any top-handle bag is a HUGE job to remove and replace; you'd probably end up paying close to as much as a new handle would cost anyway).
Additionally, I was once looking at a resale Kelly where the owner had cut off one of the double rings, effectively making the bag a single-ring (yeah, I know, I don't get it either, there were little stubs left), and after-sales care informed me that they could not guarantee they would replace the rings.

Hardware can be changed, I had it recently done on a vintage Kelly. They won’t change color and double ring will only be placed if the handle is replaced and only upon customer’s approval. My bag also needed a new handle and they asked me if I preferred single or double ring, I went with single to preserve originality.
