Every bag is so different the only way to get a satisfactory answer to you question is to take it in to Hermes for inspection.
I understand that that is not always easy and it will depend on whether your store has an in house artisan, just how reliable the response you will get.
My feeling is that the loss of a follicle covering (if that is what you tried to point out - black details are difficult to photograph) is not something that could be replaced, although something cosmetic might be proposed.

Just dropped off my bag at Hermes. Had the pleasure of dealing with a lovely associate today. I did express with them the concerns I had about the handles glazing, so she did say she would speak with them about it, but it doesn’t have major issues like replacement. I will be getting the turn lock replaced though. I also asked about full hardware replacement, but she said it wasn’t necessary. She told me I dropped off at a good time as they aren’t super busy at the moment. I will post my quote pricing once it’s received

Thank you! There’s no in house artisan at my store, so really appreciate your opinion here. Thanks!

They actually gave me the quote within 3 hours. Never thought I’d see anything fast with them haha. Repair time is approx 2 months. I’m excited and nervous to see the results.

Hi ladies, can any of you tell me a little about Hermes Repair/Refurbish policy? Can you send any Hermes bag back to them and will they clean it up (for a price?)? I have the chance to buy a vintage Hermes bag from a friend but the bag is in SUCH sad condition, really beaten up. I like a bit of a vintage look but not a trashed bag  I'd be willing to take a chance on it if Hermes will clean it up for me - I don't know a leather shop around here I could trust with it!

thank you!
if it is authentic hermes and never been refurbed or touched by other
leather shops,
then go ahead. fabric side of the bag will be left as it is including interior. they can polish the metal ware and clean re paint leatherwork. it would be around
£300++ 2months to be sent to paris

Does anyone knows if Hermes spa clean the inside of Victoria bag?

if its leather but not suede grain (absorbent) nor fabric
Hermès will not clean the interior of any bag no matter the lining. There are rare occasions where exceptions have been made but the overall policy is that they do not touch the inside.

Hello all! I just got my first vintage Hermes bag (mini shoulder Kelly!! :D) and I'm thinking of sending it off to the spa...or at least I'm 80% sure I'll do it. Has anyone ever regretted getting their bag cleaned/refinished/etc? If hardware is replaced, do they ever let you keep the old, scuffed ones? I'm looking at the imperfections, and they're kind of charming.

A mini shoulder Kelly? Didn't even know the shoulder K came in mini!

Personally I've never regretted having a bag spa'd. Occasionally I have been a bit disappointed/underwhelmed by the results, but there's never been a negative change.

With my very vintages I've usually had the option to change hardware but I have kept it as is, as generally it fits the bag better. I think unfortunately if you're sending the bag away (as opposed to it being repaired onsite by a craftsperson you can talk to) the odds of keeping any old parts are low.

I think Hermes wouldn't want genuine spare parts finding their way into the counterfeit market for use as patterns.

I'd love to see a photo! You mention in another thread is has a department store stamp, is it Bonwit Teller? I've never heard of a mini shoulder Kelly either.
With regards the hardware just tell them you'd prefer not to replace it.
My only regret regarding sending a bag for spa was a vintage Kelly that had cracks in the leather, I didn't know enough.. sent it to Paris and paid for everything they recommended (hardware, handle, the works). The repairs were almost the price of the bag and in the end not worth it. However this was a few years ago and the bag was pretty reasonably priced by todays standards. I just couldn't live with the cracks in the flap and sides. I should have looked into it more before purchase!

Can I ask which store this is?? Are you based in the US? I had an after sales appt in NYC today and the associate told me that all leather goods go to Paris. Wallets, handbags, everything... and it's a minimum of 16 weeks. I thought they only sent to Paris if the bag was in bad shape or needed specialty work?

Hehe, I'll post a picture of it! I've seen them in black mostly but was chuffed to find it in a light beige (poudre?) color on auction!

I appreciate your insight on the hardware fitting the bag better--it makes sense to me to keep some of its vintage character! At most, I think I'll try to get it cleaned and see what I can do about the cracking on the flap and sangles.

Hi everyone! I just purchased a vintage Hermes Ostrich Fonsbelle in white. The exterior is ok, it could use a little TLC but overall it is not bad at all. The interior is full of color transfer and some light soiling. I watched some youtubers talk about the Hermes Spa however all 3 of them stated Hermes Spa does NOT work on the interior. Why is that? I find it odd that they will work on the exterior, fix scuffs and what not, but not work on the interior??? Has anyone had their Hermes sent out for a Spa or reconditioning and if so, where? Here are a few pics so you can see what I'm working against. Lol. The interior leather is super soft so I expect it is lambskin.

Here she is!! :D And great eye--yes, it is Bonwit Teller! Must admit, I had to look it up, but I'm glad to have a little part of New York history as I have a soft spot for the city :')

The main part I want to address is the cracking, as I've mentioned above and pictured here. I hope it isn't too bad? The hardware has some scratches but I'm pretty sure I'll keep those for now.
