your conclusion is a dramatic generalization, and i think everyone's experience is going to be different. it is clear from this thread that different boutiques are enforcing new/old rules differently. like i mentioned before, your best bet is discussing your personal situation/outstanding orders with your own SA before getting too worked up :flowers:

I think we are all upset.:flowers:Personally, I feel venting here is better than taking it out on your SA. We all have to call our stores to find out how this will affect us individually, I still think it stinks no matter what happens. I do however feel bad for people who were developing relationships or were promised a bag that they no longer can get because of this system. Some of us will not be affected and others will have a tough time from now on getting anything not from H.com. It is sad and I fear it will not deter the people it was intended for.

The characterization of dramatic generalization aside, I agree with Julide. It's better to vent than to take it out on clueless SAs. As I said before, I am done with H retail and am going the reseller route, where I have long standing relationships and have the ability to negotiate. Just today, I found an item I've been looking for and e-mailed the reseller, negotiated a price in five minutes and DONE!

Sorry if this sounds offensive, I am just writing down what I am thinking..

The whole thing is from demand and supply. H is what it is now is because no matter what H does, we still buy even when you go thru Resellers, it is also buying and supporting their products! This way makes the resellers even bolder and richer and h introduces more harsher and craziers policies in the future.

If all TPFs could just ban them a year...it will make a lot different..Hmm maybe ..unrealistic right? Just some silly thots of mine:D

Funny you suggested boycotting H; I said the same thing when Chanel began multiple price increases in one year. No one is going to stop buying, sad but true. But dang it we should; money speaks louder than words! If an action by customers affects bottom line, changes will be made. Look at what happened to Netflix and I forget which bank wanted to charge customers a fee if they paid online. The uproar was so loud and fast, they backed off. Netflix customers bailed as if they were on the Titanic; their stock value plummeted. I agree with you crazyforhermes (or "used to be crazy for hermes").

I was exaggerating a little just to lighten the mood, but overall from what I have been reading this is what its like for some other tpfers. I am not too far from my boutique so the phone order thing doesnt really apply to me. I have got from my SA most of the things I have asked for so far this year except a birkin, which she has hinted I may be able to get soon. I am not worried for myself but I was more expressing what some of the fellow tpfers have been subject to in the past few weeks.

I was told this is worldwide and oversea people who have PO or SO in Paris, now have to pick up the bag when it's ready.

Well, that evens the "playing field" doesn't it. Not that it impacts me a lot but I gotsta wonder what kind of hell is this.

With each passing new policy that comes down the proverbial chute, concierge services are looking like the only way to go. So if it was the intent to slow the resellers, I don't think so.

With each passing day, Hermes is fading in the distant. RIP, Hermes.

I used to be able to email H.com and asked them to do inventory search for me but they stopped doing that in the second half of 2011 when inventory in the US really dropped. I once called their corporate office and asked them about the wire transfer info and no one could help me. So much about customer service for a high end brand.

I'm sorry to hear that. I ordered two small items online a few nights ago and they called me today to let me know one of them is no longer available. I asked them if they can do a store search and they were able to locate one for me. Sounds like the service you get depends on the rep, which is a little crummy because service should be at least consistent (not to mention impeccable) for luxury brands.

i was told by my SA today. Hermes is not allowing leather goods to be placed over the phone, regardless amount!

Ditto. no leather bags, small leather hoods ( wallets, agendas, coin purse), belts, and:sad::hrmm::hrmm: jewelry to clients that are not physically in the store.
I guess will be limiting my obsession to once a year trips to Paris. :D

Trying to look on the bright side (if there is one), this MAY help with resellers. If H sticks to the no phone sales rule, resellers will have to send in "ringers" to purchase bags/SLGs/etc. and it will be harder to find lots of different people to make in-person purchases than to make phone calls, I would think. So perhaps this will put a crimp in the reseller supply chain. Perhaps.

Yes I agree. I want to to know what is their reasoning for cracking down and enforcing all these new policies.
from what SA told me, too many products get to resellers, and they buy mainly over the phone so to shop in all H in the US. By cutting on phone they hope we (and soon I!) will get more luck putting our hands on products!
When you see that resellers are selling the bags for twice the price :(

That is a good point as well. We will just have to see how this plays out over the next couple of months. It would also seem that these people who they send it to purchase goods will want their cut as well making the reseller prices even higher. Whereas with phone ordering you cut out the middle man. This no phone ordering rule really has its pros and cons but we will just have to see what happens next.
