Hermes Phone Orders

I went into the Beverly Hills Boutique today. As long as you sign a pre-authorization form and are an existing customer, you can order by phone. But, you have to do this every six months. And then, I had an experience with Palm Beach, where I asked them to fax me a receipt for something I bought two days ago over the phone (less than $1k), and they told me they were no longer allowed to do that! These "rules" are arbitrary, despotic, inconsistently applied, and I'm now done with Hermes retail. I'll happily deal with resellers, who may charge more, but who at least treat me with respect. I'm going to the BH boutique tomorrow and physically tear up the form. I will not allow anyone to dictate the rules of how I spend my money and how I expect to be treated. Period. End of story.

I am so confused. I have followed this thread from the start...who knows?:shrugs:Everyone has a different story and there are different terms for every person. Exhausting and I don't blame you for wanting out. As you said how I spend my money should not be based on someone else. I really hope everything is finalized soon, I don't like the rules but I want to know what they are for certain before I make a decision...

Wow this is ridiculous! I almost feel like I am some kind of crimina, having to sign a form just to be able to place a phone order?!!
And you can't even get a receipt of what you buy?!.... Like i said, all these 'rules' are making me feel so unappreciated as a customer. It's like we have to suck up to them more than ever to purchase goods from them.. This is not right!!

My thoughts exactly. Its not easy cultivating a relationship over the phone and email, and one is not even allowed to mention B and K over the phone.
I will happily deal with resellers who value me as a client. I emailed my SA asking to refund the watch since they did not want to ship it out, and later got a reply that they can now do it bec the SM got an approval fr their CEO.
Its almost like beggging them to sell their items to me. Inconsistent.
I wonder if it was a birkin, will they go put of their way to ship it to me after they charged my card a month ago? Rant over.

In a way I´m glad I´m not in the US where H is cheaper and boutiques plenty. I am happy to pay the 25% more that H costs where I am and not have to deal with these inconsistently applied rule changes.

Is H more expensive in Europe? Fr what I know, H is most expensive in Japan, and lowest priced at Europe airports :D :D :D

Was just at my local H last night, she confirmed all the phone order stuff, but in typical H confusion and inconsistency she said they could do phone orders for anything under
$5,000. Go figure?

The inconsistencies of H. Maybe the SAs themselves are confused???:p and they may have directive as to this new company policy but I doubt if they really know what's going on. I will find out later on when my email my other SA fr another state.
She might have a third version. LOL:laugh:

Good news! Just spoke to my SA and she told me not to worry, that I have been a long time client and that she will take care of me. She did tell me (unsolicited) that she thought the new policy was geared towards resellers.

That´s what I thought as well.:smile1: I am very pleased to hear that.

I'll bet she's right. Reading what everyone else has heard it sounds to me like they are trying to disrupt the supply lines for resellers. It has to be a hard thing for the Hermes marketing team. I mean on one hand the fact that a Hermes bag costs so much on the resell market only helps with keeping alive the idea that they are hard to come by and very coveted - which has made them a fortune!- but on the other hand if only resellers ever get the merchandise the retail operations will slowly be destroyed.

As I read this thread I was hoping this was the reason, the irony being it is pushing some of us towards re sellers.

I had a really frustrating situation happen at Hermes today that will have a chilling effect on any high dollar purchase I make in the future. Less than three weeks ago I bought a 28 jypsiere éclat stain/indigo. I have not used it. It has been in my closet, in its box since I bought it. it has not been taken out other than take pictures for my reveal.

Please note that I am a 20+ year client of my local Hermes. And I have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars at the store. I have returned/exchanged bags in the past with no problem. When I bought the bag, no one told me of any policy changes.

Yesterday, I went to the store and there was a graphite/etoupe 28 jypsiere there. I liked the bag and inquired to see if they'd hold the bag for a possible even exchange. To my surprise, and would not consider the exchange since the original purchase was more than ten days ago. He said that the store was enforcing rules they had never done in the past. The SA gave me a story that there was too little inventory in the store. While I agree that there's not much inventory in the store, it's a one-for-one exchange, for color.

I basically told my SA that if that was Hermes' position, I was done buying bags at the store. I am pretty much done with the store, period. The Neimans in DC has an Hermes boutique and I will be buying from them because Neiman's policies will govern transactions. Or I will buy bags through resellers.

I have had enough of Hermes' baloney or should I say paté.

Hermes is changing. And not for the better.
