Well, I do agree that a frank and open talk with either this SA at Madison or any new one is always a good idea. You will get the feel immediately if this is going to be a fruitful relationship.

Hi, This is my first post here and I hope I could get some advice from you all. I live on Long Island and have shopped at manhasset in the past. I was told the store was independent so after some research and recommendations I made an appointment at Madison. I had (what I thought) a very pleasant experience, Purchasing items in leather goods, home, and shoes. Upon checking out, i inquired about a possible wish list, the SA explained that with continued loyalty and consistent purchases across multiple departments I would be able to receive a Birkin or Kelly. I knew about this previously and was glad to hear what I was reading online. The SA wrote down my “wish list” and asked me to email it as well.
This is where things got a little funny. I waited until the following Monday to email because I know they are busy and I didn’t want to harass the SA. In my email I inquired about purchasing another leather goods item and mentioned wish list bags for the future. No reply. After 10 days, I texted my SA to once again inquire about the leather good item and received a text the next day (no problem, I have no issues waiting but please don’t ignore me). The SA sent me pics of possible options one of which I accepted. I also inquired about a homeware item, no reply. SA ignored what I asked and when confirming my home address, I quickly responded that there was a mistake in the street name. Guess what? It was shipped to the original address which was totally wrong! After receiving my item, I waited until business hours to send a text thanking the SA and of course no reply...

1-ignored my email (fine I can overlook this)
2-when I asked for homeware ignored me
3-asked me to confirm my address and ....ignored me again?
4-had no response to a simple thank you

Am I losing my mind? Should I forget Madison? This was my first time there and although my in store experience was fine I just feel like I’m kissing ass here.. I’m still the customer and I’m waiting a decent amount of time and respecting work hour boundaries. Let me know your thoughts! Thank you again!
Hi Rosiebee. My advice may not be as directly related since I am not in the bag hunt, but I do have a relationship with a lovely SA who sometimes doesn't respond to texts. I have had a number of those that have just disappeared into the ether although we have wonderful visits in person and I have spent enough to be a regular who the SM knows.

Of course, I am not sure what the specifics around your SA's situation are, but my experience my be relevant. We are by appointment only at my store. Even so, my SA said it is busier than ever, and that SAs have very little time that isn't taken up with appointments or needing to do some pinch hitting or sending out transfers at the end of the day. If there is an opening in her calendar, the SM will often slot something in. So, without an appointment with me, she has no time to get to any lookups, and it is tough for her to respond to a number of indiviual texts. We have solved this by periodically booking phone appointments to discuss things I am interested in. I make a lost of questions and get all my answers then.

I do think talking to the SA may yield some insight and a suggestion as to a better way of working together.

Of course, if not, do move on. It should not be a painful experience to spend your money. Good luck!

I completely understand but I think it was the fact that I was upset 4 times within 2 weeks of communication. I believe once the SA asked me to confirm my home address and still shipped it to the wrong place I was pretty much unsure of this relationship going forward. I'm spending money and I get everyone is stressed out but just let me know that you need time. I'm purchasing items from you, why are you ignoring me and giving me one word answers? I will try meatpacking and hope for a better experience.

To be honest, I am nervous to show my face at Madison again. I am absolutely looking to build a long term relationship. As for manhasset, I want my purchases in the system in case I ever decide to try my luck in Paris.

I don’t think Paris can see your NYC purchases. I have purchased in Paris, Monaco, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. When I went to Madison in Nov for the first time they said they have 0 purchase history for me.

its just a store. No reason to overthink it. That being said, I’ve had more negative experiences at Madison than I have had positive. My boutique in CT just got a delivery of 25 bags. While I’m sure that Madison gets many more, every boutique gets a supply. Don’t be afraid to go to others and establish a relationship. Manhasset has a great reputation and seems to get very good supply.

Also as mentioned, USA spend has no impact on FSH

Is there a specific specs combo you’re considering? If so, you can bring it up to your SA that you’re interested in so and so color combo/hardware and you know that it’s offered only via SO, so if one opens up can they consider you a spot. There’s no harm in asking, I was offered an SO once because I asked, my SA thought I wasn’t interested until I hinted I wanted a certain color/hardware combo. Good luck!
I want it to occur naturally as she already got many hard to find items for me. Don't want to sound too greedy

I understand your frustration and I don’t think it is ok. However I know Madison is currently rotating 3 shifts so your SA may be working limited hours/days. I also heard (could be wrong) they leave their work phone at the store so that can also be the reason you why you are waiting a long time to hear back. Lastly I think both stores in New York City have been busier than ever compared to pre covid that I think they just don’t have enough time to check their phone and etc. Hope this helps alittle .....

To those who have shopped at both Madison and Meatpacking locations - which location has offered you more bags that are on your wish list?
Madison has more inventory in general being a flagship location so you can be offered more bags just because of the inventory however it really depends on your relationship with an sa and your spend in the store. I’ve heard people varying stories about being offered bags at other stores like MP and Wall more easily than Madison and also vice versa. It really is relationship dependent and what’s available when you go in.

For some reason, there were a couple of times when I walked into the store and saw plenty of other girls being offered bags this year. Strangely it has always been Kellys. Never saw any Birkins being offered. I wonder if Madison is just getting a lot of shipments of Kellys this year. Hah hah. Could have just been a coincidence.
