Wow they really are spreading out downtown- as a resident of NYC even I am suprised with how much high end retail is opening in every area of Manhattan. I do however wonder why they have chosen Meatpacking to be the larger of the two stores- as much high fashion has moved out of the neighborhood...

I agree, Meatpacking has become so much more residential. I don't think that location is the best choice for Hermes.

Heaven forbid but is there a possibility they will close Wall Street store?
:wtf::tdown:

No it's a prime location literally across from NYSE, and there are plans to renovate this boutique very soon. Plus I doubt they would close this and add two even closer to each other. If anything, I'm thinking they will choose between Soho and Meatpacking.

It's filled with tourists now so ripe for the picking.
And bad for me as I work down there :)
Hopefully the SAs will not be as obnoxious as uptown.

Hot off the press -

my SA just alerted me today that starting tomorrow March 24th, an online leather appointment system a la Paris FSH will be implemented at the NYC Madison store location. No specific details yet as the store team is instructed to show up at 8am in the morning for training. I was informed that this is supposed to be a trial for the US region.
Hope to have more details soon... :confused1:

Thoughts? Speculations? What's going to happen to the majority of the store's customers who are in fact NYC based?

my SA for one is extremely upset by this announcement...

The preloved route never looked more appealing than it does now LOL

Madison Ave location is never even that busy. I don't understand why they would need something like this. The store is always calm and under control at times when it does.

This is just gonna drive more people away, though it always did because of some of the cold SAs there.

I agree ! The lower floor with all the bags are usually pretty quiet when I visit.. or maybe that’s their angle - to try an appointment system with a large US store with little traffic as the test run? I was also surprised it was pretty quiet when I visited. What an interesting turn of events! Good thing that’s not my home store already ...
Or maybe it’s a way to get more interest in the store given a dedicated “appt” system... ? Lots of speculation haha

My Vegas SA warned me this appt system was coming to the US. He also said eventually SAs will have access to view our worldwide purchases so you can only get one BKC per 6 months worldwide! I hope this appt system fails in the US. I like being able to walk in and be served. And will prevent me from buying multiple quota bags from different countries. ☹️

this worldwide access would be horrible! But does your purchase history then carry over and help you?

If the lottery system is established, does this mean that anyone can walk in and buy a birkin or kelly with an appointment? (Assuming they are lucky like at FSH.) How will this impact establshed customers? I can't imagine US stores, even Madison, have the same supply of bags to sell.

Any update if this is truly true? This would suck! Madison leather dept isn't even that busy to roll out an appointment system

Seems super unnecessary as the stores are never really busy. I’m in Madison and Wall St quite often, and only at Christmas have I had to wait.. and even then only a few minutes. Wonder why they would do this.. perhaps to limit quota bags world wide?
