Hermès New York City Stores

I am so out of it, I did not know there was a store in Brooklyn. I had not been to Madison Avenue, my usual stop, since February 2020. It was a family weekend in NYC earlier this month, and my son and I opted to just hang out. I schlepped him over to Madison Avenue and got to see the new store. He often accompanies me, then we roam around from there in search of coffee. Imagine my shock when he texted me today and asked me why I never mentioned there was a Hermes store in Brooklyn. I did some research on line and can't make heads or tails of when it opened, seems like 2023 as a pop up. Somewhere else on line it said there was a planned opening in 2026? Since he no longer lives in Brooklyn, i probably won't get there, but he definitely scooped me on it's existence. My question is are they staying in that location and renovating the building? He goes over to that area of Brooklyn frequently, he has friends in the area, but for some reason he never saw the store before. It is more convenient for him to pick up something I want from Brooklyn then Madison Avenue so curious about whether it is staying there. I did notice when I was in Madison Avenue I only recognized 3 people and I have shopped in Midtown since they were on 57th Street. My SA apparently is no longer with the company so I do not think she is one of the transplants. Thanks for any info!
The Brooklyn (WB) store opened not as a pop up, but as a store with limited merchandise approx 15 months ago ( although happy to debate the definition of pop up ). It does not sell RTW or bags.
The larger permanent store which will be a full maison, will be just around the corner- so if now is convenient, that will be too.
The official opening date has not been announced, but had been planned for late 2024- so probably first quarter 2025.
Hope this helps!

I was just told most likely 2025 now... 😬
ETA- wait, I think I meant 2026! They are still finishing the construction of the building, and I was told from the time the building itself is constructed, it will take another year or so for them to fit it up to be a H boutique... so yes, early 2026!

I should clarify- it had been PLANNED for early 2025, but now its much more likely to be March/April 2026.
Honestly, that makes much more sense given timing ,construction, hiring and training, etc., so that's what I am assuming.

From what I saw on google, several references were made of it being a pop up, maybe early on someone referred to it that way, and the others copied that term? A few years ago my town had what was termed a pop up Lululemon, and the way it was explained to me, was they had a short term lease and if it worked out they would sign a longer lease. Maybe that was the arrangement here? I was not sure I was putting the story together accurately. I did see they did not carry bags and RTW and I thought they might be expanding in the same general area but I was unsure. Thanks!

I remember the 57th st store from decades ago;that was when there was a dunhill on 57th st too. I also remember the move to the old Madison which was once the Limited. The Hermes shoe dept on the top floor used to be where the Limited housed their sale merchandise. I’ve been told that for those who find WB convenient, it may be a good idea to become a regular client there now, as Hermes is definitely invested in the idea of a full service WB store. (When a new store opens there is often a great deal of stock).

I believe my first few scarves from 57th Street were twill Plumes with a navy border, and Kachinas (original issue). I can visualize it so well! I did not realize it moved into a Limited location. I remember the KO special edition for the opening of the Madison Avenue, too.

The old madison was the old limited. There was also another limited location after Bendels closed, I think? But my memory isn’t what it used to be lol  Hope you update us when you or your son scope out WB :)

yes @880 The Limited - I remember it well. So what are we all going to do while the H stores are closed throughout the US for the Palm Springs employee event next week? I will need a "fix" right after they re-open!

Is anyone going to the Barenia event at MP later this month? The invite says cocktails and performances. Any idea what to expect in this kind of event - do we need to dress up and is it a shopping event?
I am planning to go! It doesn't sound like a shopping event based on the invitation. It sounds like Christine Nagel and Diane Mahady the US President of Hermes will be there too? I'm not sure how dressed up you mean, but I will probably wear Hermes RTW "cocktail" attire. Not a gown, just something cute. It will probably be one of those events where you mill around and don't know anyone else, have a couple drinks and leave lol.
