Thank you! Part of me wants to try establishing at Madison, esp with how much stock they have, but I’m a little intimidated by some of the clientele there. I know it’s all in my head and based on SA relationship, but for some reason reading here just adds to some of my nerves ha. My dream would be a Birkin or Kelly touch

When my wife went to WB, the SA pulled up our profile and strongly tried to get her to move over. The SA made it clear that they’ll have a good amount of stock when they open the new store and that now is the time to develop that relationship to be one of the preferred customers for opening stock.

We have no plans on moving from Meatpacking for if MP is an example, when they opened, they received a HUGE amount of stock. Different times now, but with how large WB will be, I’m sure that they’ll receive a truckload of bags to sell to build the hype

Awesome - thank you!! Definitely going to head there this week or next!

Hi, everyone! I am a long-ish H client (at the Chicago store) and my SA recently left. Even though the Chicago store is closer to me (I still have to fly there), I don't have a connection with any other SA there. I buy in multiple departments throughout the year. I'm visiting NYC this weekend and have 4 more trips planned there through the end of the year. Is it worth establishing a relationship at the Madison store or is it just crazy competitive? I'm trying to refrain from spending so much at multiple stores without establishing an SA connection. :/

I'd stick with Chicago. Your spend history there will stay with the store despite an SA change. Shopping NY will nuke your Chicago history and likely be fruitless anyway.

I know I will disagree with some really wise elders when I say this, but Chicago is getting a new store manager so you are more or less starting a new. Might as well start at Madison. I have met some really amazing sales associates there. I will probably move when and if my sales person ever leaves.

this ^ being the case, i agree with @acrowcounted , that I would be reluctant to abandon an established profile (shopping across all metiers) at a current home store. AtMadison, there are a lot of newcomers who do try to establish an SA connection by spending.

ETA: I have been told by SAs that spend isn’t everything, but also that 1) they can only offer what the SM authorizes for them and also 2) that there has to be a balance between bag offers (both QB and Non QB) and the rest of their non leather sales during the time period in question. So if they don’t hit certain goals in non leather, they cannot sell the bags. To me, that also means that factors outside of one’s personal spend are importantly like how many clients an SA has who are waiting for a bag ahead of you and what metiers the SA has the most luck selling outside of leather. It could theoretically work toward one’s benefit, for example, if an SA has plenty of longtime clients who shop non leather and have extensive collections already, but more likely for a favored, tenured, smaller spend client than a newcomer.

@sbuxaddict, just go into Madison.. Magic can happen as you can read from many of the posts.. in spite of having many preconceived notions, you just never know who you can connect with
Perhaps not try to go in on a Saturday as it is really busy there.. but with the Labor Day weekend
coming up, Madison could be on the slow side since many are out of dodge for the long weekend

I am so out of it, I did not know there was a store in Brooklyn. I had not been to Madison Avenue, my usual stop, since February 2020. It was a family weekend in NYC earlier this month, and my son and I opted to just hang out. I schlepped him over to Madison Avenue and got to see the new store. He often accompanies me, then we roam around from there in search of coffee. Imagine my shock when he texted me today and asked me why I never mentioned there was a Hermes store in Brooklyn. I did some research on line and can't make heads or tails of when it opened, seems like 2023 as a pop up. Somewhere else on line it said there was a planned opening in 2026? Since he no longer lives in Brooklyn, i probably won't get there, but he definitely scooped me on it's existence. My question is are they staying in that location and renovating the building? He goes over to that area of Brooklyn frequently, he has friends in the area, but for some reason he never saw the store before. It is more convenient for him to pick up something I want from Brooklyn then Madison Avenue so curious about whether it is staying there. I did notice when I was in Madison Avenue I only recognized 3 people and I have shopped in Midtown since they were on 57th Street. My SA apparently is no longer with the company so I do not think she is one of the transplants. Thanks for any info!
