Just thought it’s worth sharing…
My SA told me this week that each sale associate in Madison is given one mk to sell a month.

Super interesting and makes sense why it’s so competitive! but I guess that still could be a lot of bags per month. I wonder how many SAs there are total in the store.

In a flagship boutique, there are easily 40-50+ SAs which means the boutique can offer same amount of MK to their clients in a month.
Actually my SA slipped out that she got 1 picotin to sell a day. So, there are bags in the boutique, and they are really not that rare..

As reported in the media for the Madison opening, there are 150 employees (not just SAs, but also including concierge and support). i do believe there are substantially more than 40-50 SAs. Perhaps the leather SAs are given one MK a month to sell, or everyone is theoretically given the opportunity (in that they can throw their name into the hat or make their case), IDK. I never bothered to ask my SA, but he has repeatedly told me that he can only offer bags that he is authorized to offer, and a client who is mainly interested in bags, should find a leather SA. (he is not in leather). :shrugs:

Hi everyone, I'm new and wanted to post here since this thread helped me navigate my way into shopping in Hermes NYC. I got my first B25 last week at Madison, 3 weeks after I put in my request. Got one with all the specs I wanted so I consider myself super lucky!

I mainly shop at Hermes FSH and got my first 2 quota bags there, so I was in no rush to get a quota bag in New York. I am a NY resident but only started shopping at Hermes in Paris last 2022 (I go twice a year for work). I first went to Hermes Madison in July this year and wasn't entertained by the first SA I approached (she basically said they had none of the things I wanted, lol), I bought shoes from another SA who didn't really try to strike a conversation with me even if the floor was empty. I randomly shopped at Meatpacking the week after and got 4k worth of items. The SA was lovely and asked me for my wish list. After texting and emailing him about a few more items I wanted to get, I received an email a full week after saying he would gather those for me, but he never reached out after that!

I decided to shop at Madison the day I received that email, got a few shoes from a friendly SA who took her time with us and was very accommodating. Visited twice after that, then my SA started opening up about bags since I kept saying I wanted to buy a Picotin or 24/24 for my mom. I casually said I wanted a B25 but was in no hurry (I already got 1 bag this year in Paris and I knew I was due for another trip in March 2024) and would rather buy bags for my parents first.

I gave birth a month ago when my SA randomly checked in and said she could get me a push present! Again I said I wasn't in a hurry to get a bag, but wanted a B25 and told her the specs I wanted. 3 weeks later she texted me saying she had something to show me, just a few days after I emailed her a list of things I wanted to get for fall.

SO happy with my NY experience so far. I think it helped that I didn't purchase each thing my SA showed me and that I stuck to the items I wanted for myself. She casually said during my last visit that she knew I loved the brand and was hoping I would shop at Madison more often. Right now my spend is just below 1x (July to Sept) but planning on shopping more for the holidays!

Btw my SA shared qb sales are up by 20% this year, so I highly doubt inventory is low, they're just looking out for resellers!

Congrats on your baby and your B25! I am so happy for you :D

This is great news and congratulations! I've also started shopping at Madison this August. I'm now re-evaluating my work with my SA and am trying to figuring out what I did wrong... I usually considered that a smaller bag is more competitive (e.g., B25 v. B30).

I am now also confused when the SA says "no, we don't have the bag you want..." Does that mean the SA literally doesn't have one or the SA thinks I am not ready yet to have one? (I mean... who knows? But, it gets me a bit upset...) Oh well...

Just remind your SA that you both assumed end of October was doable, and ask for an update and/or suggestions to move this along. Fingers crossed that you get your bag by the end of the year. But, to put your wait into perspective, I’m still waiting for 75% of my St Louis oxymore crystal, and it will probably end up taking at least 24 months. And, I’ve prepaid lol.

I didn’t even want to mention wanting a b25 until she started talking about qbs since I didn’t want to get shot down. But she did mention B25s and MKs are the most in demand, so I wasn’t expecting much when she asked me what I wanted as a push present. From everything I’ve read here it might be completely based on timing, as well as your relationship with your SA?? They’re given 1 qb per month and have a full list of client wishes to fulfill.

Thanks for your encouragement, @880.

Another problem is that even if I get the first quota bag this year, my SA will not [likely] offer me a men's bag until next year (even if it's not a quota bag and I am pretty sure that they have them in the store), which the SA and I had the plan for this year. Maybe after these and before aiming at my 2nd quota bag, I may want to consider going w/ a different SA or store... Don't get me wrong - I love hermes and its non-leather items where I regularly shop for these. (i.e., I am not just looking for bags... I am just a bit hesitant as I feel like I got played somehow...)

PS. The St Louis oxymore crystal sounds very classy and luxury. :)

You started in August? If so, I don’t think you are being played. Just remember your SA can only offer what he is authorized to offer, and they aren’t entirely in control of the situation either. Another interesting factoid: in the old men’s store, months ago, when the hac a dos bag was coming in, the men’s manager told me that Madison had forty people on the wait list, and Paris only allowed them 3 bags.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions, @mistyblue30. Yes, I am now questioning about my relationship with my SA at the moment, because I asked a common/typical B30 which shouldn't be harder than MKs or B25s... And my pre-spending ratios is already greater than 2x at Madison alone. So.... I am hoping to figure out what I did wrong. :/

Got it! I think "only time will tell" eventually. Let's see how it goes. :) Thanks for your comments as always!

Honestly, your expectations are out of line with the reality of today’s competition. Having a baby is about the only “special occasion“ that seems to move a client to the front of the quota bag line. Otherwise, competition is fierce and clients wait several months, if not over a year for quota bags these days, even with a loyal 3-5x spend. It sounds like your SA likes you and thus got excited and over promised a timeline to you that they were later blocked from fulfilling. To switch SAs would be cutting off your nose to spite your face, imo. Patience (and continued loyal spending) really is the key with Hermes.
