IMO "what time works for you?" is a bit tough for very busy SAs to answer. Their calendars are constantly filling up with appointment requests, by the time she checks her schedule, notes down available time slots, comes back to you to tell you, and then wait for you to confirm, they might be filled up already. Personally I just ask for an exact time/date that works for my schedule, and if my SA is available then it's booked right away.
I agree with @jbeans. At MP we usually ask for a specific date and time and it gets booked. No drama, no fuss.

I think you might be overthinking it @luxbag99 . Your SA could be on vacation or genuinely super busy and hasn’t gotten a chance to respond. I don’t think she’s trying to ghost you on purpose or trying to tell you she doesn’t want to work with you. Since she already told you she is working that day, you could wait until it’s closer to the day or even the day of and say hey I’m planning to stop by at this time, are you available? I’ve done that before and even if I have to wait a little bit for them to finish up with another client, I browse and have a cappuccino while I wait and it’s all good. :flowers:

Thank you @jbeans and @Bdbunny - I did actually give her specific times from the beginning (5, 5:30 or 6pm) because I have an office job so sneaking away during the day is hard. So I was just asking her to confirm which time slot worked for her yet no response...I'll do as @Bdbunny suggests and just say I plan on dropping by on Friday and ask if she's available. I do wish she was as responsive as your SAs though...!! Thanks for your thoughts

Some people are terrible at admin mgmt and your SA might be one of those. In a nice direct way, tell her in person that your schedule is also busy and a prompt reply is appreciated. Luxury shopping is supposed to be enjoyable but her poor comms is making it stressful and annoying. If changing SAs has crossed your mind, don’t spend too much on the next visit. Good luck

To save my SA the back and forth I’ll give times that work for me and tell them to go ahead and book the one that would work for their schedule.

I often think it’s a pity that such behaviour is tolerated as I am seeing it more and more, not only with Hermes but also Chanel. Not responding to a client is completely unacceptable in my opinion, especially when they require you to book an appointment. It certainly wouldn’t be tolerated behaviour in my profession. It’s not surprising that loyal customers don’t feel valued as a result and I personally find it hard to spin it any other way. I don’t see it changing unfortunately unless the frenzied demand drops.

I agree with you! Thank you for affirming it's not that normal, even for a NY SA. After collectively taking your thoughts, I just texted my SA that I'd appreciate if she could get back to me either way about an appointment tomorrow or next Fri at 5pm, and that I know she is so lovely and fabulous so she must shave a long list of clients so if she's too busy to take new clients on, I fully understand with no hard feelings. I just feel like I took the power back and a sense of relief. Thank you to all who replied

Hi- I shop at MP and have found success in submitting for an appointment thru the website and listing my SAs name as my preferred sales specialist

I’ve done this twice, gotten the time slot I wanted, and spared my SA back and forth over scheduling

You may wish to do this instead of having to follow up and question any power imbalance

I try to not take anything personally as it pertains to shopping at Hermes and have found it helpful to not overthink things especially on text
Of course, if there are in person signals that your SA is not the right fit, definitely look for others

Hi!

I also shop at MP. I’ve only made appointments via the website and submitting my SA name and preferred time. It works for me. I find it easier than waiting for her to confirm an appointment. The website is relatively easy to use too.

Generally I will reach out to my SA via text in regards to what I’m looking for or if she has found something I’ve asked for. I’ll schedule the appointment after that to come in.

This works for me and my SA. But it’s just finding what works for you and yours.

Thank you for that and @spape08 ! Much more efficient than texting, waiting, texting, waiting...only to have my bank acct drop after every appt! I'm sure my husband wants me to stop this nonsense altogether...but once you become an H addict...!!

Would appreciate advice from this group, particularly MP clients! I thought about posting this in 'Maintaining H Relationship' but I wanted to ask the crowd who have NY SAs to assess if what I'm experiencing is 'normal'. I started shopping in early Feb with a new SA in Meatpacking who is friendly, super helpful and patient and gave me her card after our first time shopping. I texted her the following month to make an appointment - she did take 4 days to respond to this request, and I thought that's taking a while but didn't think anything of it. So I shopped with her again in late March and again she was quite friendly and helpful (I'm easy and buy what's in stock in store and I haven't asked her to source anything for me yet) and I was able to start my wishlist.

A week after this shopping visit, I texted her thanking her for her help last time and that I'd like an appointment for Friday April month end. She never responded - so a week later I texted again and told her about my recent vacation and gently asked if she has time for me on the suggested dates. She wrote back "yea I'm in store those days just need to check what times I'm available" and I wrote back "Great! Thank you - please let me know what time works for you". I still have not heard back from her - it's a week since my follow-up. Do I ask a third time for an appointment? Or is this ghosting? I'm very confused because both times she was super helpful grabbing sizes left and right and we had friendly chemistry and I made sure I'm polite and patient. I've spent 0.5:1 so far in these two shopping visits - mix of RTW, shoes and leather jewelry. In your experience, is this kind of non responsiveness normal with your NY SA? I feel a bit annoyed having to beg and plead to spend $$ to luxury shop (as a matter of principle!) but wonder if this is what it's like with NY SAs? Or despite her being nice, is this a not-so-subtle hint that she doesn't want to work with me? Not sure what to do.

Thank you for reading and for your thoughts!
I agree with @jbeans With my SA I am very specific "can I come in at this time on this date" and if they are not free, other times/dates will be offered up. I also try to pin down the date/time right then if via text. It's my understanding that all the NYC stores are super busy either steadily or in spikes so it sounds like your SA may have just been flat out. Hope this helps :)

Agree with @wearawishbone. I do the same thing. Offer an exact date/time and when she responds to say she isn't free, I try to pin down another date/time right around when she responded.

Hi everyone, officially booked my first trip to Paris :) A friend of mine mentioned they were specifically linking New York and Paris accounts. Does anyone have insight on this? It’s hard to imagine it would only be those two places.

Also, do I mention out of respect to my SA that I am going and may do some shopping there? Is it necessary… or Europe is an exception?

Thank you!
