@jbeans, I expressed serious interest in a number of specific items. But, I am not entirely certain that some will be ordered by Madison or even make it into production. In that sense, there was a bit more uncertainty than a traditional trunk show where I can be reasonably sure that my specific picks and sizes will be ordered for purchase.
Ahh yeah my SA wasn't sure either if this was an event where they can take orders. Going to the men's RTW event at MP with DH though!

Going to the men's RTW event at MP
Thanks @Buildingprofile .

@jbeans , DH was told the MP event was current collection that is at Madison. Pls update if you see fall stuff : )
For some reason he hasn’t been able to see even a look book for fall. He was bored one day, so he pulled up the runway show and screen shot images of interest to our SA. It’s not the easiest or most efficient way to do things, so he was like, doesn’t H want to Sell stuff. Lol

ETA: @jbeans , DH is esp hopeful about a black watch plaid bomber jacket! Good luck to yours!

Yeah the invitation says Summer 2023. The RTW selection at MP is soo tiny we'll take any chance to see things IRL haha. But def will report back if I see any fall stuff!
Omg lol same here my DH sent our SA pictures from Vogue, they have the best closeup shots :giggle:.

We just went to our men’s RTW event appt tonight at MP. My DH was invited (profile is under him). It was only SS stuff, nothing for fall. And my SA said he hasn’t received the buy book yet for FW but would let me know. I kept asking him about the women’s RTW for fall! It didn’t really feel like an “event”, like there weren’t snacks or anything. (My barometer for being an event!) They had a different display and some ladies from corporate there who work in merchandising. They only do men’s RTW because I asked them too about women’s RTW.
:P
We got a few shirts for DH (I call them “boring shirts” because DH is very low key.) They do have a nice special edition color Indigo that’s only available at MP. We both got sweatshirts in that color. BUT the best thing that came out of it was my SA out of the blue offered me a B25 black ostrich with RGHW!! (This is literally our second time shopping with him and we have very little spend history at this store so I was shocked!)

:O No snacks?!? That was what I was looking forward to the most. LOL JK... sort of. My SA is holding a bag for me to see as well, so I'll go even if no snacks.

Thank you so much for sharing the details! My DH will also be looking for "boring shirts", glad to see there's a decent selection of those.

I know, right? How is it an event without food??

Ooo excited to see what your SA has for you!! So far I am loving MP way more than my EX-home store in NJ!

My SA told me in advance it'll be a BBK25 GHW. I'm preeeeetty sure I'll take it. I'm not the most careful with my bags, but I just adore the vintage look of a box Kelly. It's going to have a rough life with lots of scratches, but I'll love it lots.

I've only ever shopped at MP, and I don't ever wanna go anywhere else! Everyone here is so friendly and a pleasure to see every time.

That sounds beautiful!! Congratulations!! I think scratches on box leather give it character. Can’t wait to see it!

I agree- MP is such a pleasant store to shop in. Everyone is really nice and friendly, and it’s a relaxed and fun shopping experience.

Enjoy your men’s RTW appt!

taking it back to a basic question...because things have changed so much in the last 1-2 years with Hermes...I shop at the Madison store, how long would you suggest waiting (e.g. how many appointments with the same SA, how much to spend with someone) before bringing up the "I'm interested in a QB" comment? understand there's no perfect rule and there's technically nothing stopping anyone from bringing it up right away at a first visit even but what do folks think will will have the SA not vomit on the request...

They hear it all day everyday so I would imagine they are braced to deal with answering it during every client interaction. I’d just rip the bandaid off, ask, get it out of the way, and then your SA can focus on other requests that you have with your wishlist tucked away in her brain.

As you said, there is no perfect shopping style that will suit everyone. But I just want to make sure that first you like and want to keep working with this one SA. Assuming the answer is yes, this is what has worked for me. I love lots of different bags, not just BKC so I try to make it a point to do a tour of the bag floor some time during each of my appointments. Even if I don’t buy a bag, it’s just great eye candy. It doesn’t always happen if we’re in a rush and short on time but I’d say 3/4 of my appointments, I manage to fit in a tour of the bag floor. My SA and I chat about the bags on display, what we like and don’t like, what’s in demand, what may be coming down the road. Somewhere during the chat she may ask me if I like xx bag and I answer yes or no with maybe an explanation if it’s a no. Or she might ask how I’m liking one of the newer bag styles I bought and I’ll tell her my pros and cons for that bag style and whether I like it enough to recommend to others. Or I might see a combination I like and say how hard would it be or what are the chances of my getting xx bag. So the conversation is organic and not limited to just quota bags. That’s just what works for me and obviously may not work for everyone.

I love what you got. I went to the MP Men’s event too and almost bought the scuba horse sweatshirt, but went with a summer button down shirt instead. I enjoyed learning about the fabrics, designer inspiration and technical details from the merchandisers. (But agree, wish there would have been some nice snacks
)
Haha.
