No. It’s like any other offer and there isn’t a set guideline. Depends on how much your SA likes you, how loyal you are, how much you spend, if they see you as a client that can go the distance, if the store likes someone else more, etc. The more anyone tries to break it down to a science, the more confused and frustrated they will become.

I see thanks so much for this info! :)

Hi all: I am returning to NY next week for a long-term US assignment after a few years away - so excited! My current home store is one of the smallest H stores in the world - and unfortunately has had such limited stock recently - so I am looking forward to visiting Madison and hopefully seeing some goodies.

It's just a store, and just shopping, but anything I should be mindful of? Feel free to DM.

Also OT but any restaurant recommendations are welcome :)

Welcome back

The new store is gorgeous. The staff is friendly and inviting especially compared to the old store (the concierge will pair you with someone available, and or you can just walk in and browse). There is more stock; more places to sit; more refreshments :) Once you find an SA you like, I prefer texting for appts, bc it can be busy. If you can, go during the week.

DH tells me that the mens dressing rooms are much nicer, but our SA said that was bc he was in the MtM room.

Re reservations, other people will know better, but it’s best, Post Covid to reserve in advance. :) I still think it’s very hard to get decent Mexican or Peruvian Sushi in NY. And, I’m a bit tired of tasting menus and omakase. Prices are comparable to London, or a bit less.

ETA: for custom shirts for men or women, I find that Turnbull & Asser is much happier to experiment and try new things in NYC than in London. IMO, Bergdorfs is a bit tired, and Saks is having a bit of a resurgence, but I personally prefer boutique shopping along 57. Madison still has a significant amount of boarded up storefronts.

Perfect advice, thank you so much, @880 ! Sad to hear about Madison Ave as that used to be my favourite avenue, loved walking all the way from 57 to the 80s. Excited to rediscover everything!

Just wondering if anyone knew approximately what spend each time and frequency can help become a vip without 2 quota bag limitations per year thx
My friend shops H whenever she fancies, be it in the US, Europe or Asia. Has received BKC and SOs from different boutiques and countries. Last year alone she got 4 QB and 2 SO - and that's from what she told me. She's never heard there was an H game or journey. All I know is that her purchasing power has no limit.

I heard its 150k USD and above per year spend for VIP status.
Not sure if 150K will do it for a new client post Covid. That’s less than a full leather couch. I know a couple of people who do get more coveted QBs without the limit. They just buy what they like without counting ratios.

Maybe ten years ago there was a thread on VIP spend and I thought posters mentioned was more like 250K +++. I think it was h or ch subforum, and I have a feeling that there may be some common goal posts among premier big luxury brands.

I totally agree! Post covid spending has been 3:1 4:1 even 5:1. But I do think that anyone purchasing furniture from H regularly surely classifies as VIP and more shockingly some of them really don’t care about bags.

It's way, way more than that to be VIP at Madison just by spend (as in getting to no quotas, no issues getting SOs, etc. as @66_77 asked). I'd say $400-500K at least. ETA: VIP by relationship or length of client status is different...
