Thank you! Any idea what the pre-spend amount is and if the Picotin18 count towards it?
Picotin does not count towards pre-spend.

As for pre-spend towards the type of bag you're longing for, it varies anywhere from .5:1 to 2:1 or more based on info posted by members on this board. There are many other factors involved like your relationship with the SA, how influential is the SA with the SM, are they in a good mood, stock availability, existing clients in queue for a bag, how desireable are the specs, your luck, is it cloudy or sunny, is mercury in retrograde, etc.

However if you have unlimited funds, charge $50k with your Centurion card on your next visit and they'll bring out an exotic B/K25 or whatever you like, if not on the spot, very quickly thereafter.

@Cancan, are you sure your friends SA is still employed there? There have been new hires and some were let go.

+1 with @blinggirl74 , re the inconsistency of the rules. I think just go with whatever your SA recommends. i tell my NY and FSH SAs exactly what i have, so they can better ascertain my taste and select items accordingly

I was in the neighborhood, so popped into MP for the second time. It was pretty empty. I always make it clear where my home store is and that I am only curious. Everyone was very pleasant, and the ones who know my SA sent their regards which I thought was really sweet. I did hear an SA tell someone who came in behind me that MP only has three bags: a cute structured leather covered square medor bag; a trim; and something else.
They’re swamped with zillions of texts and calls (my SA scrolled through his to give me a sense of this) so I wouldn’t take it personally or call it anything so active as ghosting. SAs are not given extra time to return texts or hunt for stock, (and I believe at one point SAs were not allowed to even take phones home) even for clients of longer tenure with far greater spend. With a 4K annual spend including leather, I’m not sure that it makes substantial difference whether to connect with the old SA or find someone new.

If your friend wants to connect with the former SA, I would keep trying; walk in; or make an appt (perhaps there is a line on the form where you can request a particular SA? IDK. I think walking in might produce the best results.

i think now is a great time to send something for Spa.

@del789 , everything counts in the unofficial prespend in the US. I would just shop at whatever pace feels comfortable
Thanks! I just sent you a PM with the name. :)

Alright thank you. I just started my journey not so long ago. I want to hear some experiences. If the SA reply your message is it a good sign? Since I didn’t purchase much at the beginning.
It is a good sign if your SA replied to your message.

An SA replying to a customer message is the proper and courteous thing to do. It should not matter if you are a new client or established one. However, the reality is that many SAs are maxed out with existing clients. SA's are also very busy every day assisting clients with back to back to back to back appointments. They are flooded with text messages and emails with no time to respond. As a result, it may take a few hours to a couple of days to hear back - bearing in mind that their more important clients will take higher priority.

For journey experiences, I suggest you read as many posts from this thread and other H threads to get a feel. Have fun.

I went to the new Madison for the first time this evening. I’m not a big client and don’t yet have a regular SA. No line and it generally wasn’t as busy as I expected. It was quite busy on the first and fourth floors (scarfs and fashion jewelry on 1 and bags on 4), but there are so many SAs that it’s was not hard to find one. The SAs were lovely and multiple offered to give me a tour as I was just browsing. One showed me around in the display bags and offered to look for a Picotin for me after I admired one. I politely declined but I was surprised that they even spoke to me about bags. At the old store, any mention of Picotin was met with a “no stock.”

The store is amazing, especially the beautiful staircase and the roof patio!

I learned to provide my SA with reference numbers of the stock I want but he isn’t a US based one. He responds within an hour. Much quicker for them to check quickly with the ref number than the name of the stock. Even for the overseas Hermes boutique with a longer existing profile - before I travel, they get the email and then when I land, they provide the answer.

Thank you so much for your advice.

I met my SA for the first time few months ago. After i purchased, the sa gave me her card information. And i start to text, and she always replied me. Even only simple words. Since I understand the sa is busy. That’s fine. And i will meet my SA soon. I made an appointment already. Usually how long the sa will give you the time for appointment? Like 30 minutes or 45minutes?

Yes i would love to read other H threads. It is really exciting and i am learning something new. Wish me luck with my journey!

Usually at least an hour.

thank you to all for sharing your experience and photos of the grand opening.
Anyone bought the special edition watch? I’m on the fence and appreciate anything you could share.
@Hermes Zen in post #46,403 posted a pic of the watch I think you are asking about

Calling all New York lovers of H! I’m seeking your opinions: I’m heading to NYC in a few weeks to visit my daughter and I’ll be staying at an AirBnB in Brooklyn near her. While we will head to Manhattan to see the Edward Hopper exhibit at the Whitney, we have no plans to go further uptown…is that a mistake? Should I plan a trip to the new flagship store? Or will the store in the Meatpacking district satisfy any H shopping ‘needs’ I might have? TIA for your thoughts.

The new Hermes is quite a beautiful store. Worth a visit, IMO
And just strolling on Madison Avenue is always an unexpected pleasure as well as finding
perhaps hidden treasures.
The Meatpacking store is smaller & inventory might not be as plentiful as Madison.
What might be nice is to make a reservation at Restoration Hardware for lunch & stroll that
part of the city if you don't want to venture uptown,, just saying

Do you like hopper? I just went. I was meh about the Hopper Exhibit, and I do like Hopper. (Dont get me wrong, Hoppers paintings are beautiful, nd the show is well curated; it’s just Hopper over decades, was remarkably consistent in his work. Gorgeous, but not much evolution. So there wasn’t a magical epiphany. I apologize if that’s really harsh. Perhaps part of the issue is that I think the Whitney shows are gorgeous but dont stir the heart. . . Not sure why). ( it’s also possible the mods with delete my post for being OT) So, I salvaged the trip downtown with Banter (better than Pastis) and a visit to MP.

I’ve only been to MP twice, but i heard them tell another client that they have only three bags: a medor clou leather wrapped clutch (I was offered this bag, or one exactly like it in 2021); a trim; and something else. I do think MP is a jewel of a store, better proportioned than Madison. It’s also exceptionally tranquil. We were the only ones there until the other client came in a few minutes afterwards. It was actually less crowded than after Covid SIP. MP, better expresses the charm of smaller boutique.

But, especially since the opening, Madison is quite lavish. roof top garden etc etc. and lots of stuff on display, bars on every floor. Whether it’s worth a trip uptown. . . IDK. I’m a Madison client, and I think the new store is. . .we’ll kind of like the Hopper exhibit. For all of its grandeur, its still not as charming as MP. It seems more friendly than it used to be.Some visitors have said a lot of merchandise is display only. I actually haven’t been since the opening which was too busy for me. The shoe section is a bit like a department store, but at least it’s no longer in an airless attic. Perhaps my lukewarm recommendation has to do with the fact I dislike crowds. The bland Madison atmosphere is also why I’m not crazy about the restaurant brooklyn Faire which is of course no longer in Brooklyn. Like Madison H, BF is technically proficient, but almost like the textbook definition of NY Michelin. I’m assuming I will warm up to H Madison. At least the airconditioning works and the bathroom is nicer.

You could try MP to see if they have stuff you love, and if yoj have the energy and time go to Madison. I recommend first thing in the morning for Madison, but another poster said it wasn’t too crowded in the evening. Here is some of the Hopper. . . And some of Madison. If you go in the morning, I personally prefer Sant Ambroeus to Banter (78th and Madison) For breakfast, coffee, snacks and cookies. SA doesn’t have the cosy charm of Banter, but objectively, it’s breakfast is superior.

Personally, I think it’s like when you go to Paris, it’s like do you feel the need to go to all three H boutiques? HTH

ETA: the espresso and catering and sofas are still a bit better and more relaxed at Brunello across the st.
