Your story makes me wonder if someone in a head office somewhere does a final check on a client’s worldwide quota bag profile and saw that you already got two Kellys this year (one local, one FSH).
I don't think they do, because I did get a "qb" at Madison and I've bought two in Paris this year (plus other bags).
I heard that the global linking of accounts was finally completed in the end of summer this year so it could have been possible to get more than 2 globally earlier to mid summer and then the linking of accounts hit in quarter 3 of this year hence restricting purchases of quota bags to 2 per year globally. I also heard that if your special order bag comes in after you have received your 2 quota limit, they will hold your bag until the new year starts. Of course all of this probably goes out the wimdow if you are a special (vip) client.

I'm talking about the Madison opening.

Just sharing my experience from weekend after opening day. This is not my home store. Not much leather stock actually available everything for display only even most popular SLG. There were some mini lindy hanging on the wall, without for display only sign but they were also not for sale lol. Got yelled at by security guard or sa for even touching them lol. There was a lot of people and I did get to talk with a leather staff member who took my non QB wishlist and he was really into talking about the leathers etc but he said he was not an sa and will pass on the list to SA to contact me. I think there is less than 10% chance I’ll be contacted lol. Saw other people asking about picotin with no success and the staff did not even take their wishlist lol. My friend browsed some jewelry and I chatted with the jewelry sa about a special edition watch I was interested in he said some of his clients had put in a deposit for that but did not offer to help me put in a deposit. I think most sa here seem saturated with clients already and not willing to take on new clients, just my impression.

If you go into Madison and have a better vibe with another SA, shop with whomever you feel comfortable, but I personally would advise sticking to your current SA and ironing out any miscommunication bc she has the most incentive to advocate for you with the SM. i went back and reread the posts, and I do think it’s very likely that she wanted to get you a bag (probably a 28) and the SM overruled when a bigger spender came by. IMO management may have even pulled prior reserves when they saw the first day numbers.

No one will tell you the inner workings of an SM decision, and it’s not a matter of ‘finding’ an honest or straightforward SA. H business practice is simply to prioritize top clients and encourage others to buy consolation merchandise. The most an SA can say is that they do not have the final authority. Even if you have another SA, you still are subject to the SMs decision. Note: it’s the amount you have spent at the Madison location that counts the most re QB; but an SA will advocate harder for a client that is exclusive to them.

There is significantly higher demand for smaller bags, so greater unofficial prespend. I personally don’t think your prespend of 16K (1.5X?) is anywhere close to a 25K. Prespend may be why your SA originally said a 25K is unlikely for a first bag. Mine was 5X plus which I spent while waiting for my 25B sellier. I believe @Tykhe and others have had similar experiences. Whether or not you feel like you need a 25 bc you are petite doesn’t really make any difference to the SM. I still advise do not ever buy anything you don’t love. It’s much better to go back a few times to see a piece of RTW than to have to return. returns are not good for anyones profile.

this is NY where many only wear classic neutrals. Hermes is known for its bright colors, but I would guess that it orders a lot of bags in neutrals. i don’t have a wish list or a time limit, and bags eventually come that I love. Either way, for Madison, it’s best to temper one’s expectations and be patient. JMO and YMMV

Best. Advice. Ever.
I fully agree with 880, there are so many variables that eventually land you your QB (whether it’s your exact specs is a different story altogether). I think I spent 5X before my sa offered my mini Kelly II and it’s not even in the specs I asked for!

@fashionemily7 that being said, if you strongly feel that your sa is edging you along with items that you don’t like or generally not keeping you in mind then I would suggest reevaluating the relationship. Maybe the connection isn’t there, or maybe your sa recently had new clients who are willing to spend >10k consistently everytime or >50k at a go. I wish you luck and hope you eventually land the QB that you love

Others have confirmed what you have said, but oddly some of us have heard differently, IDKW. i shop at both FSH and Madison under the same account name. Both SAs have told me that my NY and Paris accts are not linked (Confirmed by an SA in London). I do not have a high Paris prespend at all, but I am a RTW client and I can visit twice a year. My SAs also know that I was not specifically looking for any more QBs (I don‘t have a wish list), but I did accept my third QB offer in Paris in the latter half of September 2022. Neither SA has indicated any change in my acct limits. Another TPFer that I know who is a VIP (i do not consider myself in VIP spend category) received her third QB at the Madison opening.

@Itinerantd, I agree with your statement above. my SAs have both told me directly that they cannot accept new clients, even personal friends or relatives that I vouch for. They are simply overwhelmed. I am beginning to think that my NY 5X plus prespend is on the low side of normal for Madison. ETA: I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a non QB wishlist lol.

Thank you @ykelc for your kind words. I’m glad that you got your mini K II  I agree with you that there are many Madison clients (not me) who easily spend 5X or 10K at one go multiple times a year.

Want to share my experience with the new Madison store - I went in for an appointment today and the store is very busy (on 10AM on a weekday)! Love the new hospitality team and had a good chat with my SA. I was offered a very special item not originally on my wishlist. Very happy!

I do think the staff are very busy and trying their best. The store is beautiful and definitely worth a visit!

I agree, the new store is gorgeous and definitely worth the visit. I experienced it last week! I am new to the brand and wanting to build my collection so I don't have an SA or home store but wanted to check out the new opening and chat with some of the SA's to learn more. I didn't have an appointment and went about 2 hours before close with the intention of looking around and seeing the new space. The hospitality team was so kind. When I got there, they said if I am willing to wait, they can connect me with an SA when one becomes available. I waited about an hour, and within my hour wait, the hospitality came around and gave everyone in the store a mini gift bag with travel/sample fragrances. When I was then introduced to an SA, we walked through all floors for a quick tour and made our way up to the leather. We chatted a bit, and I was telling her how excited I am to start my collection. She told me to hang on and went to back and came out with an Evelyne TPM! I was blown away and it was the last thing I expected. I officially have my first H bag and looking forward to continuing adding more pieces This experience was more than I could have imagined and looking forward to taking a trip back in the future! :)

Yay, I am so happy for you! I love my TPM. It’s perfect for going to WF or out in NY :D

Hi all - I’ve been on a hiatus from the Madison Avenue store since pre-covid. I found out that my SA moved to the WS location. Since I live near the Madison store, I’ll need to switch SAs. I met an SA there that said that since I haven’t shopped in a couple of years I’m considered a new client. Have you heard that before? Also, strangely none of my prior shopping history shows up in my profile. I guess it disappears after a while?

I completely agree. It could have been handled much better. I'm still upset. I'm also waiting to hear from my new SA, but I know

Hope to hear some news today. Did they look at your history and assign a new SA, or did they pass you to whoever was available at the moment?

They asked me who I’d like to work with, and I said someone who actually knows the history and brand, and is up to date withthe leathers esp heritage since I like box and Barenia. And they paired me with someone I know but didn’t work with much. So I like him. I go back next week to see him and do an exchange on a rtw piece that I purchased to match a knit skirt I bought at the rtw event but it was odd a shade. And to pick up a geta and my shearling coat I bought.

I feel like the whole process is so inconsistent amongst different clients and stores. I have friends who shop at both madison and FSH. Their NY SA told them about the 2 bag limit globally and that their SO would be held if they hit the limit. Maybe Paris quota bags do not count?

It's very inconsistent - I know my NY and Paris accounts aren't linked in terms of seeing purchases (and not just because I bought three Birkins/Kellys in five months) - I've seen my Paris profile and it doesn't show other purchases, even UK, nor does it show anything but my Paris address and one other. My Paris SA offered me a box calf Mini Kelly and didn't know I'd bought one in London.

I also got my third "qb" (gosh I hate that term) of the year at the Madison opening, and I am NOT a VIP at Madison. (I know because I have been told so LOL.)
