Store credit money can't be used for a QB?

Typically correct, unless the store credit came from the return of a quota bag. They don’t want you buying $12k of “bait” then returning it and using the credit on a quota bag. It’s usually a moot point though because if you are making returns, you aren’t going to be in a position to be offered a bag usually anyway.
Ooh I actually didn't know that store credit can't be used on a QB! But yeah I was more referring to if you're returning a big portion of your prespend, there won't be a QB for you to spend the credit on anyway.

Interesting, will an SA at MP be suspicious why I am trying to switch after much shopping? I don’t know if suspicious is the right word.

I agree that I need an SA who’s honest and straight forward. My desire for small bags comes from my size (5’1, Very petite frame)… but I am wondering if there are certain colors that would be easier.

As in, the classic colors, do people who shop at Madison already “have them”? Since it’s such a high end crowd? They have their black or etoupe 25s… or maybe I’m wrong.. and I should go for more bright colors… which I don’t fully mind
If you go into Madison and have a better vibe with another SA, shop with whomever you feel comfortable, but I personally would advise sticking to your current SA and ironing out any miscommunication bc she has the most incentive to advocate for you with the SM. i went back and reread the posts, and I do think it’s very likely that she wanted to get you a bag (probably a 28) and the SM overruled when a bigger spender came by. IMO management may have even pulled prior reserves when they saw the first day numbers.

No one will tell you the inner workings of an SM decision, and it’s not a matter of ‘finding’ an honest or straightforward SA. H business practice is simply to prioritize top clients and encourage others to buy consolation merchandise. The most an SA can say is that they do not have the final authority. Even if you have another SA, you still are subject to the SMs decision. Note: it’s the amount you have spent at the Madison location that counts the most re QB; but an SA will advocate harder for a client that is exclusive to them.

There is significantly higher demand for smaller bags, so greater unofficial prespend. I personally don’t think your prespend of 16K (1.5X?) is anywhere close to a 25K. Prespend may be why your SA originally said a 25K is unlikely for a first bag. Mine was 5X plus which I spent while waiting for my 25B sellier. I believe @Tykhe and others have had similar experiences. Whether or not you feel like you need a 25 bc you are petite doesn’t really make any difference to the SM. I still advise do not ever buy anything you don’t love. It’s much better to go back a few times to see a piece of RTW than to have to return. returns are not good for anyones profile.

this is NY where many only wear classic neutrals. Hermes is known for its bright colors, but I would guess that it orders a lot of bags in neutrals. i don’t have a wish list or a time limit, and bags eventually come that I love. Either way, for Madison, it’s best to temper one’s expectations and be patient. JMO and YMMV

Which is also why experienced SAs, when dealing with a client who has indicated he/she will spend a large amount all in one go to get a QB at the same time, ring up all the client’s purchases and make sure those charges go through before bringing out the QB to be rung up as a separate charge.

I've done it, more than once. Couple years ago I returned a piece of jewelry that didn't fit me and used the credit almost a year later on a Kelly. Maybe they didn't mind because it wasn't possible to order my size in that piece? But I've also applied small credits toward quota bags. Hmm.

Thank you! Good to know. I like your perspective

For a store like Madison, is there one SM that makes all these decisions for all the SAs? That seems like a lot of pressure on one person… or is it split by department or something of that nature?

I think certain colors like blues and pinks are more sought after than neutrals. If you want a green or yellow it might be easier than a neutral
I was told by an SA years ago that in the East coast-NY included of course-conservative and neutral colors are more preferred and are more popular (like black, brown, gray) while bright and loud colors (like yellow, green, and purple) are more preferred and are more popular in the West coast (Hollywood/LA). Of course the likes & dislikes vary but that was her observation.

Regardless, the stores are experts at knowing what their clients want. If it’s a high demand item, they’ll order more (higher demand and higher supply) and if it’s a lower demand item, they’ll order fewer (lower supply for lower demand). In the end, it all equals out and doesn’t make much sense trying to game the system in this way. Always best to just ask for what you’d love.

Of course it is always best to ask for what you'd love. I never game the system that way. Just sharing though what my SA said.

Did anyone else find out they’re SA left Madison?! I found out when I came in for the store opening and was shocked. Now I am SA-less after loving my SA.
YES! Still in shock. I found out yesterday when I arrived at the store. They told me he's no longer there. I feel like I lost a great friend. I have no idea what happened to him. He was at the Madison store for years, was talking about how amazing the new store is and I was so looking forward to meeting him there. Still feeling lost knowing that I have to start a new relationship. A little worried about what's going to happen with my wishlist and if a new SA will have the same pull as my previous one.

sorry to hear that your long time SA left. Did you have an appointment or did you go to browse? Did they sign you an SA to work with you that day? Are they allowing walk ins without appointments how are still appointments only?
