Oooh pics! Thank youDo you like hopper? I just went. I was meh about the Hopper (Dont get me wrong, Hoppers paintings are beautiful, nd the show is well curated; , it’s just Hopper over decades, was remarkably consistent in his work. Gorgeous, but not much evolution. I apologize if that’s really harsh). ( it’s also possible the mods with delete my post for being OT) So, I salvaged the trip downtown with Banter (better than Pastis) and a visit to MP.
I’ve only been to MP twice, but i heard them tell another client that they have only three bags: a medor clou leather wrapped clutch; a trim; and something else. I do think MP is a jewel of a store, better proportioned than Madison. It’s also exceptionally tranquil. We were the only ones there until the other client came in a few minutes afterwards. It was actually less crowded than after Covid SIP.
But, especially since the opening, Madison is quite nice. roof top garden etc etc. and lots of stuff on display. Whether it’s worth a trip uptown. . . IDK. For all of its grandeur, its still not as charming as MP. Some visitors have said a lot of merchandise is display only. I actually haven’t been since the opening which was too busy for me. You could try MP to see if they have stuff you love, and if yoj have the energy and time go to Madison. I recommend first thing in the morning for Madison, but another poster said it wasn’t too crowded in the evening. Here is some of the Hopper. . . And some of Madison. If you go in the morning, I personally prefer Sant Ambroeus to Banter (78th and Madison).
Personally, I think it’s like when you go to Paris, it’s like do you feel the need to go to all three H boutiques? HTH

Honestly I just like to do something cultural before a big lunch with wine that leads to retail therapy And my daughter likes Edward Hopper so…I used to love going to Freds for lunch (and people watching) which put me in just the right spot for a visit to H. Perhaps we’ll fold in a visit to MP post Hopper and then head uptown the next day to take in the new store. Technically I’m on ban island so I really would be exercising restraint…unless either store has the Robe Legere 90 in which case I’m going off island.
Thanks for your NY expertise!
