Hermes in the DUTY FREE, airport list!

You cannot purchase any DF products with a domestic boarding pass. Since they don't charge you local sales tax, you have to show proof that you're taking the item out of the country.

I probably should have been more precise in my question. I have been to some Duty Free stores where they will charge you the correct taxes if you are not flying internationally and then I have been to other stores who cannot sell anything to a domestic boarding pass holder (aka they couldn't have the two price lists or calculate the additional taxes).

So I guess my real question is do you know if Hermes in SF is able to sell something to a domestic traveller and charge the appropriate taxes or if they are like some of the stores where they cannot sell anything at all to a domestic traveler.

Chkpfbeliever is correct. They will not sell you anything unless you are leaving the country. There is no ability for them to charge you tax. Moreover, the bags are delivered to the jet bridge and given to you right before you leave.

Connecting in SF is worth it for H shopping if you have an international flight. I've gotten several rare items there.

Also concur. We are actually at the Honolulu airport right now. Popped in to H and was told they will not sell anything to you without an international boarding pass. They told us this AFTER they said they had a Constance mini in rose jaipur and a Constance 24 in Gris mouette! Oh the horror!!!!

You ladies are correct. I did stop by just to window shop and they could not sell me anything. It is unfortunate I have been to other stores where they could do the "dual" price (aka charge you tax versus not charge tax). It was a bummer since they had a anthracite Dans le atelier Dallet shawl, a Grrrr shawl and some twillies I have been looking for! Oh well

So did you buy an international ticket? [emoji23] say hi to DW!!!

Good to know. Will be there in a couple of weeks!

I will be passing through Hong Kong next week and am wondering if it's worth a trip to the duty free Hermes store in the airport. Does anyone know what prices are like compared to US dollars? I'd love to purchase a 36 garden party tote as well as some enamel bracelets. Thanks!

I'm going to pop by tonight as I'm flying out of HK. From what I've seen on the US Hermes website, I think US might be slightly cheaper. I.e. Twillies are HKD1,450 here (USD187).
We don't have sales tax in HK so technically it is not duty free at the airport.
I rang the H store at the airport to see if they have any rodeos and bags. She told me they don't stock rodeos and they have some bags (I didn't ask for specifics). She said they are not able to hold so will just have to see when I get there.

Late reply but just letting you know that the US was less expensive than HK.
