indeed! especially the Boni High Street/Serendra area (is that still Makati?). oddly enough, the Glorietta part is dead, ever since that explosion.

I also love Trinoma.

hahaha! allan, you're still pretty much up to date...are you gonna head back for christmas?

part of the original glorietta may still be under renovation but there is a new glorietta now...yes, glorietta 5 has risen. a new building is now on the old parking lot between rustan's and the hotel intercon...not only that, greenbelt has also expanded further and there is now greenbelt 5...more high-end shops there like patek, piaget, etc...etc...

to answer you question about serendra and boni high (or high street), that part of town is no longer makati, it is part of taguig.

I better check out trinoma soon since I haven't been there at all...did you get a chance to go to the mall of asia too?

ernskie - the new H boutique is going to be located where the old max brenner used to be. it's on the other side of the boutiques along greenbelt 3 (where LV, bulgari, gucci, prada, etc. are located) not sure if that's greenbelt 2...but it will have it's own street frontage.

I'm pretty excited about it although a bit anxious about the pricing...we'll see...:sweatdrop:

880 - you were here january? let me know when you're here next and we'll organize something...

same goes for anyone planning a visit, just send me a PM...it will be good to touch base with you guys

oh i wish i get to go home again. i was there briefly in jan 08 and so many things have changed. love love greenbelt...

it would be interesting how the price$$$ are going to be in H MLA :-)

So cool that there are so many of us. Someone told me the prices for H are outrageous in Singapore and Beijing - I would assume they will be high in Manila too.

Would love to Rox rocks - its just when I am there - it is hard to get away from family and commitments lol, kwim?

you're too funny PP

we prefer to spend the holidays in manila since melbourne can be really warm around december and there's nothing like christmas in manila. it will depend on the boys though...last year we spent it in melbourne so I'm hoping we'll all be in manila this year.

the "BER" months are here again and the longest christmas season has already started. christmas songs already playing in the malls and on radio....don't you just love the christmas lights around the city, the festive mood all around, traffic and shopping chaos included? :p

keep me in the loop. it will be good to catch up when you get here...:flowers:

Would love to...even a quick cup of Java at Penninsula or Mandarin! I get so bored with my wife's family...I could plan my own outing but in laws may not like it...but wife's game to meeting up with other tPF while there...should be fun no? And to meet you would be an added bonus! hugs!:D

oh yeah, I've seen Glorietta 5 when I was there but the only store opened that time I was there was that appliances store (Anson's?).

I've been to Greenbelt 5 as well but there weren't many shops back then. The Zara store was still being built that time. My family and I ate at Marvin Agustin's Japanese resto (forgot the name) and Marvin was there. He looks really really handsome in person!

And is it just me or is it really shocking to see prices at Bang and Olufsen in US dollars? WTH?! Maybe they'll employ the same pricing at Hermès?

Yes, Taguig. I love that area. Very... sushality!

Trinoma looks like Glorietta but with better restaurants.

I've been to the Mole of Asia once, when I was with family, and they were with me in processing my travel documents. There's nothing really special in that mall except the view of the sea.

I don't know if I'll be able to meet up with you since I haven't been there for almost two years. I only have a two-week stay and I'll be staying with my family who lives in San Mateo, Rizal. Good luck to me.

Rox - Last time I was there was on December 1997 so the only ones I remember were D&G, Ferragamo and Armani. None of the other luxury labels were there yet.

Oh yeah, there was only LRT. No MRT yet.

It would be interesting to see how Hermès would do in Manila. It seems that some of the celebs have caught on with the label.

Is Mall of Asia the really big one with the enormous bowling alley? I have a hard time keeping all of the malls straight. . .:D

My baby cousin who is a guy, late twenties, asked me to get him a Hapi. I wonder if the fact celebrities like Hermes will influence the younger shoppers.

pazt, PP, ernskie, allan, and 880 - as promised...here's a picture taken this afternoon, courtesy of DH

we're getting there :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

looks promising.

I can already see the price tag on the Birkins: PhP 550,000.00

And can hear my mother exclaim, "Kalahating milyong piso para sa bag? Ano ba yan, gawa sa ginto?" Haha

^^^ha, ha, ha!

since birkins are gaining publicity lately, people are already saying that....:sweatdrop:

the last time I checked celestina's shop here they actually quote pricing in USD, I guess to lessen the shock, then they convert it to the dollar rate of the day...

i was just in manila, feb of this year, went out with old high school friends at the fort/ serendra, i was shocked because the place looks great, just like any US shopping place and restaurants i am glad hermes is opening there, about time!!!!i dont think i will purchase if the prices are overinflated but at least i can tell my sister who flies regularly to paris what i want!
we will be back in manila next year again!!! cant wait!!!

So sorry for bumping into this thread.:D

As of this time, VIP clients of H Manila are already lined up for their Birkins. I heard through the grapevine that a regular Birkin is around P 500,000.00. I wonder if they're going to have enough Birkins on stock for walk-in clients?:thinkin:

Allan - you got the pricing right there:D

Rox_Rocks, PP & to all TPF kababayans: Would it be nice to have a TPF meet in Manila for the holidays? Please let me know or send me a PM, my office is right beside Boni Hi-Street. I would love to meet all of you.:D

I can also hear my mother saying this. I'll probably respond to her, "Hindi gawa sa ginto, kung hindi balat ng buwaya at tinahi ng kamay. Hindi ginamitan nang makina."

I wonder what she really would say if she finds out all the H items I've collected through the years. Yikes!

Thanks rox rocks for the picture. So I guess eventually the the bolduc will be the next ones going up.

Maybe someday we could all attend meet-up in Manila. I can't wait to be back after so many years (12 years to be exact).

Keep the pics coming!

According to a very reliable source, the manager will be Mr. Mario Katigbak of Bulgari and Bang & Olufsen, Manila.

I am invited to the opening of the store but I know I won't be able to afford a Birkin nor a Kelly for now. :crybaby:

Maybe a nice twilly for my Lindy will do. ;)
