Hermes in Manila

In Asia, I would say it's definitely Taiwan. Hong Kong used to be cheaper but not anymore. Plus, you get another 5% VAT refund in Taiwan. Friends from Taiwan used to fly to HK to buy jewelry, cosmetics, fashion brands but now they don't bother coming out here anymore.

Your input, ladies is great! I enjoyed reading the answers! Thank you! But what I meant by my question was a "global answer"...what do you think which country in the world is the cheapest for Hermes and other luxury brands?

uh huh! Flip through and through...born there, raised in NE USA, back there for med school, married a spoiled flip classmate, now tortured for life! LOL!! JK!!

travel a lot and visit the old country once in a blue moon...:smile1:

Hahah that's so nice to hear Mr. PP. :) Im very happy to know that there alot of Filipinos loving the H brand like you do... :) very supportive of Mrs. PP's love for bags.. :)

Oh my, it has certainly been a while since I've been back to Philippines. "The Fort" during my time was just big empty land. Now it has High Street? Sheesh! I should really go back for a visit! Hopefully H is already be open at that time.

Ernkie, the fort bookstore is my favorite place when I am there.

I still think you will be able to get best deals in France or the US. I haven;t been to Hong Kong though in a very long time.

Thanks 880! I can barely remember my way around Manila since I haven't been there for so long. I heard so many things have changed already.

Also, I heard that while the luxury stores carry a nice selection of goods, they are more expensive so it's better to get them in Hong Kong, France or US, maybe even here in Canada.

So rox rocks, did you take any picture? Do they have the usual orange box poster draped on the construction site?

LOL. I was just there in January and it was very modern. There are even turkish and Indian restaurants in the malls. I remember the old days when you couldn;t even buy a magazine and all the paper and envelopes in National bookstore were brown. And when Rustan;s was all alone next to SM. Years ago, I was stuck in terminal 2 (I think NW, Cathay Pacific and a bunch of airlines were on strike) and in the business class lounge there was a pot of adobo and outside some biblical stories for reading material.

hi Ernskie! it's very early stages still, no orange yet on the facade. I'll take pictures once that's all up.

I was just too excited when I saw that they at least have the frames set up...

you should really visit manila soon. you're right, so many things have changed...makati is very posh nowadays ;)

PM me when you have plans and I'll be happy to show you around if I'm in town :flowers:

Must be nice to be back for a visit. I miss mostly the food. Things have certainly progressed over the years. Turkish and Indian restaurants? Wow! I probably won't recognize the place.

I know what you mean with the magazines. It used to be when I buy them, they're more expensive and a few months behind. I remember when I was in the terminal, most people were carrying boxes tied with strings which counts as their luggage.

Sheesh. I really should go and visit.

That is kinda exciting. Thanks for the offer. Well, if ever I'm going it certainly would be around January or February. I don't like it when it's too hot and humid in the summer. Hopefully you're not in Melbourne at that time.

indeed! especially the Boni High Street/Serendra area (is that still Makati?). oddly enough, the Glorietta part is dead, ever since that explosion.

I also love Trinoma.

Geez, I guess I've been away far too long. I don't even know what these areas are. I know Glorietta, but like you said, it's part dead.

So where is the H store going to be then? Is it going to be in Makati? Is the LV store by Shangri-La Hotel in Makati?

LOL! that was too long ago! it's now in Greenbelt 4, near PLDT.

you're too funny PP

we prefer to spend the holidays in manila since melbourne can be really warm around december and there's nothing like christmas in manila. it will depend on the boys though...last year we spent it in melbourne so I'm hoping we'll all be in manila this year.

the "BER" months are here again and the longest christmas season has already started. christmas songs already playing in the malls and on radio....don't you just love the christmas lights around the city, the festive mood all around, traffic and shopping chaos included? :p

keep me in the loop. it will be good to catch up when you get here...:flowers:
