I’m hoping this is the appropriate thread for my questions 😅

I just purchased a Kelly bag from a well known reseller in Singapore. The bag was advertised at BNIB with original paperwork and stickers. Upon receiving the bag, I realised it’s actually got after market stickers on it. I’ve purchased bags directly from the store over the last 5 years and never have I seen stickers like this.

When questioned the reseller guaranteed they were original sticks.

If this happened to you, would you be okay with it?

And with the above in mind, do you feel like after market stickers lower the value of the bag? (Similar to how no stickers would)

Noting that the bag was purchased from the store in 2021 but allegedly never worn.

Thank you!

You mean like Orange Shields? Ugh.

If a reseller lies about the plastic, they can lie about anything, but they could also have been lied to by their source.
If you're certain the bag is authentic though, and you plan to use it, hopefully you would be removing the stickers anyway? If you're planning on keeping the bag with plastic on the HW forever so you can resell it some day as BNIB (?!), then obviously you don't want fake stickers :shrugs:

Thank you for responding to my questions.

I do plan on getting it authenticated and if genuine, I do plan to keep it forever as it is my ultimate dream bag.

I just question whether I’ve been mislead and therefore I ask myself did I pay a hefty premium for something that isn’t what it was described as…

I’ve attached a picture of the stickers so you can see. Definitely not the stickers you would get on a brand new bag from the store, at least not from Australia stores.

Maybe when you get it authenticated, ask them to include their opinion on the stickers as well so you can perhaps go back to the seller and ask for some sort of adjustment to the price you paid (assuming they agree that the stickers are aftermarket). I would research their inventory and note how they price the same bag differently depending on the condition so you have an idea what to ask for. It’s a beautiful bag though!!

Do you have an alternative source for a truly BNIB bag? Between us, what are YOUR options otherwise?

I suppose you can and should at least ask for a discount based on these stickers.

I think I know which reseller you are referring to. Earlier this year I purchased a pochette from her that was “like new.” Once I received it, I inspected the bag and it looked to me like the bag had been repainted and retouched. I had it authenticated by bababebi. She vouched for its authenticity but refused to make any comment about whether it had been retouched. She said her job was to confirm its authenticity and that’s it. If I had concerns about the bag I needed to reach out to the reseller. I showed the reseller the deets that alerted me to the fact the bag is altered and she agreed that it looked like it had been retouched. For me, how can a bag be advertised as “like new” if it had been retouched? Im no expert either and for me to be able to pick up on it means it was a bad retouch job. How did the reseller not pick up on this detail if she examined the bag and then to turn around and sell it as like new? So for me, either you’re not as detailed as a trusted reseller should be (what else is getting by you?) or you know it’s not like new or bnib but will try to pass it off bc it sells better that way? Almost all her bags are listed as “like new” or “bnib.” I felt like regardless of its authenticity, I couldn’t keep it bc I didn’t trust any of the process anymore. Also, Hermes spa would never accept the bag if it had been touched up by any other third party, so I returned it. This reseller did not give me any issues about returning and that part was extremely seamless, but I will prob never buy from a “trusted” reseller again after that first experience. Not sure if that helps you but I understand your concerns.

Hi all, would love to get a price check from H lovers.

Found a B30 shiny porosus from 2016, black GHW, full set, decent condition, one scratch on front exterior but no other noticeable issue. Priced a little under $40k

Is this a good price? I have until tomorrow to pull the trigger Thx all

Bonus question: if you already have a black GHW croc or alligator Kelly, would you get another black GHW croc Birkin? Or would you get the croc B in a different color/HW?

Considering the current market and the original retail price for this item in the designated year, that seems to be a fair price. Does that figure include taxes and fees? Additionally, do you have any pictures of the scratch or other wear on the bag? Of course, have the bag and its ancillary items authenticated too. As long as the seller is trustworthy and willing to accept returns in the event that the bag is deemed inauthentic (God forbid), I think this could be a fantastic find!

I see no issue with ‘doubling up’ on Croc Kelly and Birkin. These are two totally different bags— at least in the way that I use them.

I will defer to experts as to price, but I think the second question ^ is quite personal. The nature and depth of your current collection might also play a factor. I only wear neutrals, and yet, I would want a substantial difference in size; finish (matte versus shiny) ; or hw to justify two black bags of the same material. Especially at the croc price point. :)

Hi thank you for chiming in. The figure includes my state tax w/ no other fees. What was its price in 2016? (I’ve only bought h off and on since 2020) I didn’t take more pics but def plan to authenticate it with bababebi. The front hairline scratch is only visible if you handle it up close, but it is pretty long. My K is from 1990s and has hairline scratches too but much shorter

I agree they’re different bags but truthfully I was originally looking for a non-black (or even non neutral) croc B since B feels more casual to me, and my black K serves the more dressy occasions..

I just thought this B is a good price from my limited knowledge. Do you think the price is only fair, not amazing?

Thank you! You have a fair point. The seller also has a black croc B with PHW so I might ask to look at that as well

Very welcome! The price for this combination in 2016 was a bit under EUR 45k. USD would’ve been just under 50k (including tax), IIRC. You might be able to check the old pricing threads for a more exact estimate. Suffice to say, you’ll be saving quite a lot of money!:yahoo:

Nonetheless, if you don’t love this colour or you aren’t comfortable with the wear, it may be best to pass on the bag. I’ve seen non-black/non-neutral exotic bags on the secondhand market for cheaper. It all just depends on what colour and condition you’re after.

Editing to add: Here is the pricing thread for 2016!
