Is it normal for a brand new twilly to come in this condition? It was bought online.
Maybe someone will chime in, but even if that’s the norm on h.com, if it’s unacceptable to you, just return. I have read of members asking for an exchange (silk scarves) and getting a worse item, so I don’t recommend that route. I buy in store so I can see what I buy, but I’m relatively close to a US maison.

Your feedback is really insightful, thank you. According to their policy, I can't return it as it was bought as a gift online. I can only exchange it but I'm reluctant as I may get another one just like it or one even worse.

From your experience or others' you've come across, is it normal for a twilly in brand new condition to be like this? I wouldn't be as bothered if it was the standard for Hermes.

Thank you again for your help.

I had no idea this policy was the case.

If you do a search, there is someone who repeatedly got scarves in terrible condition from H.com…. Which was what I was referring to above.

While, I don’t buy much silk these days, I think it is likely that this condition may be the norm.

That's awful. I tried looking for them as I'm curious to see the condition of the silks they purchased but had no luck finding their post.

I did come across a few other people who purchased leather goods online that have issues, which is unfortunate as well.

Hey everyone

I recieved a twilly and I think it has pilling.. is this normal for a brand new twilly?

There's white fabric sticking out in the area where it's supposed to be pink around the word "Chainy"

Would appreciate any insight or help
Sorry to hear that your brand new twilly had some defects. I had a similar experience a few months ago when I got the Splash Park twilly. I've attached a photo for you to see how mannnnny defects there were. There were snags, loose threads, pulled threads causing lines, and more. I messaged my SA and she was extremely apologetic and told me to come in at my earliest convenience so that she could get me a replacement. Just note that I purchased 2 and only 1 was defective, so I do not think it is "normal" for this to occur.

ETA: here is a link to a closed thread where I happen to agree with many of the responses to OP (in other words, I don’t think her provocative title was warranted; but certainly there have been issues with merchandise)

This was not the thread or OP I was thinking of, but am limited by searching on my iPhone

I'm virtually certain that goods brought online can be sent back for a refund....
Do you mean it was gifted to you in which case you are not the original purchaser in which case the rules could be different?
If so contact the person who gifted it and ask them to return it.
I dont buy twilly so I cant comment on wether this is 'normal'..as others state if it bothers you then its not good enough to keep..
'normal' quality or not.

I'm so so happy you were able to return it. I was genuinely relieved to learn that after seeing the picture - it looks horrendous.

Mine isn't as bad, but I don't like how prickly the fabric is. I can only exchange it, however, I'm not sure if I'm up for the risk of getting another one that's bad or even worse.

Thanks for referring me to that thread and for all your help. I've learned my lesson for today and that is to stay away from shopping on their website.

You're right.

I bought it for myself as a gift without meaning to. And because of that, I can only exchange it according to their policy. 😔

I've seen several people complain about their online orders now, which makes me reluctant to exchange it as I may get another one that's bad or maybe even worse.

I believe the policy is exchange or store credit. Have you spoken to customer service to confirm exchange only? Wishing you the best of luck

ETA: you can also try a search on this thread:

Me too. I’m glad my SA was understanding. I even told her I know it’s not her fault or anyone at the boutique. Especially since she got it from the stock room and it was wrapped in plastic meaning that it had to have come like that from the production line. I suppose it slipped past quality control?

I know yours isn’t as bad, but you should still try getting a new one. I think the only way you can go about it is exchanging for another and seeing if it has defects, and if so, then exchange that one again?

You should be able return it if you bought it for yourself as a gift if it is within the return period. I do mostly online orders (Both US and Canada websites) and also send to myself as a gift. Your account should have this1000099151.jpg

I would never check an item this closely because I use everything I have every day so if it doesn’t have an imperfection when I buy it, it surely will as soon as I start using it.

Having said that, this is your luxury buying experience and it should be as YOU expect it. Exchange it, and if the new one has imperfections again, exchange it again.
