Hello, I'm a newbie so I cannot post new threads so I'm hoping this Hermes chat thread is an okay place to ask this question. (please be gentle with me, apologies in advance for any faux pas i might inadvertently make)

I bought this Hermes 24/24 on Ebay.

It was listed as New but never used. It was found to be authentic by the Ebay Authentication process but a minor issue was found. These 2 pictures were sent with the caption: The exterior has scuffs or scratches that are not shown or described in the listing.

It is the 24/24 size and color that I want. Listed at $9500. I have the option to return to buyer with full refund or to continue with purchase. I've asked Ebay for more pictures to show where on the bag the scuffs are. I've also sent a request to bababebi for her opinion. What are your thoughts on this being a deal breaker or not?

Thank you so much for your advice in advance, I appreciate it so much!
Mine has that too. I’m not sure if that is truly a scuff since that area is pulled really taut for that shape but I could be wrong. I don’t mind it. As for the price, is the color something your dead set on? The price may be lower but is it also lower for the same color?

Lovely bag.

Does anyone know if the Birkin Cargo 25 and 35 are still out there or are still being made? My SA thought that there are none left in the company worldwide. It is my only QB wishlist item. I like special edition Birkins and I am also wondering what special edition is being made right now? Any feedback is really welcome. Thanks!

Distinct unique serial numbers started being added to bags a couple of years ago. They are imprinted into the bags in close proximity to the date code/artisan stamp. Its still a bit hit or miss, especially because H sometimes holds back bags in inventory for years before releasing them so not all newly purchased bags will have them. Though at this point, most bags do. It also seems hit or miss as to whether the serial number is printed on the receipt.
THANKS!!! Ahhh I'm so excited to learn something new! Brings me back to when I first joined this community more than a year ago. I know I'll never be able to tell the exact shades of colors from pictures (let alone, memorably, a debate between r luvs h and bababebi whether H used a specific RESIN color against a given stitching and bag color more than a decade ago)

Just went through my receipts and realized the "serial numbers" are indeed on all my in-store (but not online) receipts! And also learned that serial numbers = the date + artisan codes. I knew about the year+artisan codes, but all this time, I didn't realize that that Hermes uses the term "serial number"! So I suppose those codes are, after all, unique to each bag! Now I'm getting the idea that it's NOT just those numbers aren't just the year + the artisan... like, if artisan "MC" makes two gold on gold birkin 30s in a given year, surely they have different serial numbers?

Been visiting Amsterdam earlier this week and saw the smallest size I think in the display case inside the store located in the Bijenkorf store.

Is the bag a Special Order? If not, it’s highly unlikely that the feet are permabrass. In many cases, different hardware elements of a bag will oxidise at different rates. I think this is the case with your bag.;)
Thank you, not a SO but I got her fairly recently and have not worn much and noticed this, not sure if this is a common thing, thank you 🙏🏻

Very welcome! It happens sometimes, so I wouldn’t stress too much. If it’s not an issue of oxidisation, it may also have to do with the alloy mixture used on the feet vs. on the lock (maybe different mixtures were used, which would result in different hues of gold).

The most important thing is that you are happy with the bag, so if you do feel like this is something that will bother you, my advice would be to take the bag to your local boutique to see if the After Sales Representative has any advice on how this can be fixed. Best of luck with whatever you decide!:flowers:

Thank you so much! Doesn’t bother me much actually I was trying to figure out how permabrass hardware looks like in real life 😅 and thought that hardware looks similar to that color tone 🥰

Impatience won, I came across two Birkins on eBay- a B30 in Epsom and a B30 in Togo, both Etain. After a few days, I selected the one I wanted, but it sold immediately when placed in my cart. It had been up there for a while, so I didn't think much of it. Divine intervention, I suppose. Tried placing an order for the other option, but it also sold immediately when I placed it in my cart?

For fun, I tried a third I didn't really want (B30 in Etoupe). And as life would have it, it sold out when I placed it in my cart! Buying a Birkin secondhand is scary enough, lol.

Is there an individual on a beautiful shopping spree or are these robotic accounts? How does Ebay work?

I feel the same way. The last couple of days I have been browsing the Hermes website. A 24/24 29 bag in black randomly popped up. It was gone almost instantly. Today a Lindy bag and Evelyne 16 Amazone bag sold out immediately, and right now I tried to add the Evelyne III 29 bag in gold Clemence leather and it was sold out. My husband thinks it bots or maybe I'm literally seconds to slow. Even though I have been the stalking the website occasionally. Any all leather bag on the website seems to sell instantly. Years ago it was so easy to get an Evelyne bag where I lived. I regret not purchasing one in person years ago, but now I've been on a waitlist for the last four months and I'm starting to lose my patience. It use to be an easy bag to get. I don't really understand what the problem is. It seems like ever since COVID, Hermes bags have been literally impossible to find where I live. It is very frustrating.

It's pretty well known that there are bots on the H sites that buy up all the bags. Occasionally a "real" customer will get one, but the majority are the bots. Try using apple pay on your phone. That seems to be a little faster and you may be able to get it that way.
