Hermes has deliberately removed the ability to purchase bags on the website with Apple Pay. The button no longer shows for leather items, despite being available for other item categories.
Interesting, so I went to check, the Apple Pay button is still there for leather bags on the AU website. Yes,there’s actually leather bags available as they’re ostrich

First time posting in this general chat thread. Would love to advice and please excuse me if I’m posting in the wrong channel.

I picked up my first BK25 now that I’m switching to smaller bags. It was an excruciating wait because I only wanted it with Etoupe Togo and gold hardware. Eons went by and I finally got offered one this week. BUT I have never seen such interesting/ uneven grain patter on an Hermes Togo. The front panel of leather is very tight and smooth grained but the sides and the back the grains are much bigger and looser. It bothers me ever so slightly but I know I don’t wanna return it cuz I waited too long for it. The leather panels on the sides also feel softer, not as “tight”.

I wanted to ask the community: does a bigger grain signal worse skin quality somehow? Is this normal? Just looks like I have a Togo + clemence special order bag with the grain difference IMG_9730.jpegIMG_9731.jpegIMG_9732.jpegIMG_9733.jpeg

The side is certainly a different grain. The front is tight and sharp. Interesting.

The Birkins I've seen are uniform throughout. Maybe Hermes is changing the structure so the leather can be easily repaired for casual use? I can't think why a special order would be the same color with nothing unique really, its too wasteful for such an opportunity.

Anyone else following this guy on instagram? https://www.dmagazine.com/publications/d-magazine/2024/june/the-thousand-dollar-bag-destroyer/

There’s a rant up there now about Hermes
I’m kinda bored of him now - I feel that his reviews in a way are there to stealthily promote, oh surprise surprise, his own leather brand. He doesn’t state it outright, but by having his brand next to review after review of slating most brands, the undercurrent is there of “oh if you want excellent leather and craftsmanship but without the inflated prices of designer bags, I DO have my own brand…”

I find him disingenuous. At first it was educational. Then, it became self-serving. I stopped watching after the Hermes episode. I guess he couldn’t find any fault with H leathers so he went after the wages of these artisanal and if it justfies the price of the bags. 🥱 :sleepy:

Hello, I was wondering if more experienced members know when/if Hermès stopped plating silver hardware with palladium? I have heard some rumors online, but nothing definite. I can only judge by online pictures, since all my bags and SLGs are gold plated, but seems like it used to be warm white silver before (similar shade to Hermès silver jewelry) and now it’s more like stainless steel with dark grey and blue undertones. I attached some pictures below to make more sense.

First picture is from the website (I know it could be the lighting or a computer generated image), the second one, with a twilly, is an older Picotin from Christie’s.com.

I don’t believe they were available to order in bicolor exterior even when you could SO them. Just verso. The current/upcoming season seems to be releasing bi-color normal production KPs in very select colorways/touch but extremely rare. Best to inquire with your SA for availability to you. (Or wait for them to hit resale at insane markup, again only swift leather though)

Okay thank you so much I’m new to this but my mom has been shopping in the same boutique for 15 years I’ll have her inquire with her SA and see if any exception could be made or have been in the past hopefully there’s a least one of them floating around somewhere😭.

I guarantee they won’t “make an exception” but what I’m trying to say is that there might be certain predefined bi color exterior combinations in swift KPs available for current ordering by the store manager at their ordering event.

Hello! Just wondering if you could give me some advice. I was offered a Kelly bag and my SA made it pretty clear that I should not turn down the offer. I ended up with the Kelly 28 in nata but not in love as I was hoping for something more neutral as my first bag. What do I do?! Just wondering what you would do in this situation as this is all new to me. Thank you

I don’t know if this has been mentioned before but if you’re like me who’s wondering if the original Picnic Kelly will be back, well, it is:

IMG_7420.jpeg

It is priced at 17,400 euros at Sèvres. I think a barenia one is also available, or at least I think it’s barenia I saw at FSH.

Like the original, it doesn’t have the extra rings to attach a shoulder strap.

Perhaps resellers could now relax their Picnic Kelly 35 pricing of at least 40,000 euros a piece. lol

Is this a size 35?
