@prettyali I agree with @880 that your SA may be signalling to you that this is the closest she can get to your desired (and very desirable) spec in the foreseeable future. Although it is a neutral, it will have a very different feel from the colours you have requested IMO. You should not feel pressured to accept a bag that you don't want, but it might be worth at least trying to get a better understanding of where you stand before you decide whether to take it.

Wow. JMO but if you don’t like nata you shouldn’t buy an expensive bag in that color. Why would you? It would be different if she said well, it’s not beige marfa but come look, you might like it. But take it or you’ll never get another? I’d probably consider it time for a switch, a hiatus, or a very frank conversation, but YMMV. I’m wishing you the best of luck in finding a bag that gives you butterflies. :flowers:
Plenty of people turn down a second QB offer. I also went a long while between accepted offers. Talk to her. The fact is, this bag isn’t the size or color you want. But, I would say in general the competition for the bag you want, size 25 neutral, gold, beige marfa, or Noir, is greater than for size 28/30. Your SA may greatly desire to offer you the bag of your dreams, but if it will not be approved by her SM, she just cannot do it. Having said that, I think Nata is just as much of a neutral as beige Maria, but that’s only my opinion. I didn’t buy the bag. Good luck
All of the above & @prettyali, the bag should make your heart sing which is a thought coming
from many a tpf'er..
The right bag is always worth the wait, JMO

Please don’t kill the messenger but I have heard that people are put in this position often and then they resell the bag they were forced to take and start up again to get the next offer.

When I heard it, I didn’t think it were true because I could not imagine someone being fo fee like this, but obviously it happens.

YOU SHOULD MOT KEEP A 10K bag you do not want!

I can only imagine how hard this is for you right now. You have been wanting the bag, waiting, spending, you are feeling pushed by the SA. This is luxury shopping. There is nothing luxury about what is happening to you right now.

Yes, it is frowned upon to not take a bag that matches your specs. But you know what? You are the buyer and YOU make the rules!

I would say call the SM and frame this as asking for advice. Is there a partner who can do it for you? So it is coming from a third party on your behalf?

Hello! Just wondering if you could give me some advice. I was offered a Kelly bag and my SA made it pretty clear that I should not turn down the offer. I ended up with the Kelly 28 in nata but not in love as I was hoping for something more neutral as my first bag. What do I do?! Just wondering what you would do in this situation as this is all new to me. Thank you
Congratulations! A Kelly is a wonderful purse. You have received some meaningful advice so far. I don't know what Hermes' return policy is for bags but it's been suggested. If you're unable to return, you can always cosign which imo isn't a loss.

On the bright side, nata is so delicate and can highlight your future neutrals! It goes so well with every outfit, you truly can't go wrong with it. If you don't want to cosign, try playing around with twillies and scarves to dress your purse. The marshmellow-y tones of the leather compliment Dior's twillies really well, and there is a cute trend of using bag charms!

First bag advice! If you keep it, remember to carry non-acidic, chemical-free, plain cotton wipes. Do NOT use baby or makeup wipes. A dab of water is plenty. Get a fourbi to protect the inside, or build or buy a liner. For cleanliness, I personally use "Cadillac Leather Lotion" on my collection across multiple leathers and it's fine (I haven't used it on Barenia or Box).

I understand sales pressure, sometimes SA's say one thing but mean another; in the moment there's not much room for interpretation. Go easy on yourself, it must have been a frightful and exciting moment.

Edit: I did some digging for you and found this page:
store credit within 10 days..............good at any hermes for one year
If it's been less than 10 days... run to the boutique! Good luck dear

I’m so sorry this happened to you….😕

After decades of shopping experiences (some unusual lol) this is truly unbelievable to me. I am absolutely in shock that you felt you were “trapped” and actually paid for and left the store with an item you don’t love (or even really like!). You are asking strangers (lovely as we are lol) for opinions on your $$$$ purchase.

No amount of praise or links to styling options for this bag will replace the absolute JOY you should have felt when you left that store.

My opinion is return the bag ASAP and have an honest and frank conversation with your SA (and if needed the SM as suggested above). Remember you are the client and they are providing a service in retail; you can always build another relationship that makes you 💯happy.

I truly wish you the best of luck!😉

Is your spend competitive enough for a k25? If it is I’d return the k28 and continue to wait. IMO the bag is miles away fro what you asked. It’s not the same size and not even close in color. Although I do think Nata is gorgeous and a neutral but just miles away from what you’re thinking

On the other hand if your spend is on the low side, this might be the best it will get and it is a great offer.

Best of luck!

I was offered a mauve Sylvester Kelly 28 in swift leather back in the spring, I turned it down because it wasn’t even a color on my list and not something I would want as my first QB. So when she showed me this bag she said no one turns down a second QB offer. I asked for a Kelly 25 or Birkin 25 in Epsom in noir, gold or a neutral color. So in the SAs opinion this was a neutral and not something I should pass on. Thank you for reassuring me that it is a neutral 💕
Omg, a Kelly in nata is my dream. We should trade bags. :P

So do you hate the bag or are you only having a bit of buyer remorse over the “what if”. If it’s any comfort to you, let me share my story.

It took me one year of serious shopping and a 3:1 ratio for my first ever QB, which was a k25 in gold Epsom. As a lover of pop colors and white bags, I never imagined spending so much on a “boring” color. Nevertheless, the wait had tired me out at the time and I gave in. I went to see the offer and ended up buying this “boring” bag.

You know what? I never regretted it. Because this gold k25 that I never wished for brought me joy. I ended up loving how versatile it is and the gold color grew on me.

I’m now three years into my pursuit of a white Kelly. Guess what? Im still waiting. A few months back I was offered a SO slot to order this dream Nata k25. It’s a SO, so who knows when it will be here, right?

I really think your SA might have seem pushy because they themselves felt it was an offer too good to pass on. (Think of people like me!!! I want your bag.)

After all, there isn’t a guarantee of “when” your SA “can” offer the spec you want.. Since you accepted the bag, you now have a gorgeous “neutral” bag to enjoy.

Yes, nata is totally neutral to me. I love nata and all off white bags because they could be dressed up or down and they go with everything.

Good luck with your decision. Only you know what you like best. 😊

@prettyali Firstly I feel quite angry with the SA for making you feel pressured to accept a bag that you don't love and was'nt on your wishlist.
Sometimes we get offered or spot a bag that was never on our wishlist but it makes our heart sing when we try it and we end up loving it (I'm referring to my black Garden party 36..never on my wishlist had'nt considered it, tried it and realised I loved it and had a place in my life for it).
You saw your bag, and did'nt fall in love...you purchased it and are clearly regretting that purchase so my advice is.
Take it back..you will get store credit to put towards a bag that makes you happy.
As others have suggested DO speak to the SM and be honest that you felt an element of pressure to take the bag.
I would'nt sell it or consign it as due to the fact it is your first QB offer you will be expected to wear it whilst visiting the store on subsequent visits and not doing so would cause red flags.
Finally Hermes bags are'nt cheap (I wish they were! dont we all..)
Its your cash...forget how long you may have to wait for another offer more to your liking..you've waited this long but you still don't have the bag you want....better to wait longer and get one that you love and can't wait to wear than one you look at and feel only regret for accepting.
Good luck and let us know what you decide to do.

💯

If the SA was simply trying to communicate that this kind of 28K neutral is the best she can offer, that is a bit
different than blanket pressure to take any bag. A nata 28K is a beautiful neutral on its own. And, normally, if this were posted on the offers thread, we would all simply offer our enthusiastic congratulati9ns on a stunning bag. That is totally independent from the maxim that one shouldn’t buy any bag that one does not love.

ETA: I will say that I have bought bags that DH and my SA were positive were perfect for me. I was unsure at the time, and then quickly grew to adore them. It’s really an individual process, and strangers here, although well meaning, don’t know you; your aesthetic; and your wardrobe as well as you or your SA. Your original query was whether nata is a neutral; I would say yes absolutely. I also think a 28K is a drop dead classic that will always look fabulous on anyone, even someone petite :)

Thank you to everyone for your honest opinions, I truly appreciate it. It’s been a difficult decision to say the least, my SA is also an assistant manager so this complicates things and I know that if I return the bag I will most definitely tarnish our relationship. Having said all this, I have read all your comments and can say that I don’t hate the bag, it just wasn’t my first choice but could definitely be a good neutral. If and when I do get a second bag if I still don’t love love it I will consider selling. I dont want to give any red flags!
Thanks again to all of you, this is a great community! I was in the Chanel forum for years and happy to be team Orange!! lol

Am I the odd one? I consider mauve sylvestre a sexy neutral because it's a toned down pink with a bit of lilac in it. I love it, and think a lot of ppl do. Your SA probably think she did you a special favor. You can dress it up or make it blend in.

So you took nata instead and you don't like it? But nata is a true neutral. It's a very sophisticated color and easy to work into any wardrobe.

Actually I don't think black is a neutral because it's so harsh as a color, just like bright white. Yeah, I don't know what you should do at this point because color is so individual. Sometimes what you aren't in love with at first sight, you will strangely grow to love. Hermes has this magic.

But yeah, you shouldn't feel pressured to make a purchase. But I think you should really take time and define what you consider a "neutral" color.

If a return can tarnish your relationship, there is no relationship.
As far as I understand, this is not even the size you wanted. I can see if one of the parameters was a little off but both?
Yes, this color is a neutral and I guess you could’ve defined that you wanted a medium or dark neutral but you salesperson should’ve just the same asked you to clarify.
If this is the one and only bag you think you will have from H, wait for what is perfect in your eyes. If you think this is a start of your collection, as many have noted, you will love and appreciate this bag very much over the years.

Hi, cross posting this here because I posted in the enamels thread a few weeks ago, but haven't gotten any answers yet, so maybe some of you might know the answer... Just wondering if anyone knows what the new enamel bangle releases are for AW 2024? Have you seen any online? Thanks!

let us know what you decide to do... At this point it may be easier to quietly sell, though if you do it may be a while before you get another option. Are you sure you cannot discuss with your SA and request a different colour? (nothing tarnishes a relationship more than selling, because it puts the SA in a very difficult situation with his/her own superiors. ) Nata is as I am sure you know - very sought after so it's not as if Hermes woulds have trouble selling it. I was also offered Nata when requesting a neutral but I declined. Nata may be popular but is most definitely not my idea of an easy to live with neutral.
