Plisse would be hard since any scarf could have been plissed after being manufactured.

I am adding the explanation from the book, although it doesn’t really make things clearer. I would have expected both types to be merged into one book.
I’m just thinking of years designs were officially released pleated; they have a distinctly different caretag attached prior to pleating, so I assumed a plisse issue was intentional. :shrugs:
Thanks for distinction reminder; it is a bit muddy... If there’s 500 examples of each I can see why author would split into 2 volumes. It’s going to be cumbersome to search through 3 books (eventually) though... :annoyed:

I am so new to hermes scarf collecting that the whole limited and special edition scarves isn’t fully indexed in my brain. But I did take notes while looking through the book. I now realize some that I noted might be considered limited or special. Or it might be that they were not in classic 90’s format maybe. I probably don’t know enough.
*The Marble Balade en Berline. Maybe Not mentioned because a 75. Book has the first marble silk.
* Brides de Gala Fleuri
* BdG Love. I have twilly so maybe not done larger.
*My Arms of the United States has a special edition not listed in code ( as I mentioned) In 1976.
* not sure if a classic size was done - Coup de fouet au bloc. ( I have a 140)
* double sided not mentioned I don’t think.
*Early America special edition for chicago museum of art was it?
*Promenade a Versailles ( prob just a “special edition” Saved for special edition book?
*jardin enchante Had a special issue for Central Park so prob saved for other book
* I assume Perspective is from 2019 or 2020 to still be on the Hermes website yet not mentioned on the book listing.
That’s all I had notes on.
Great notes!
I agree with you that we’ll see many of these included in 2 forthcoming volumes for the CA4 Trilogy. I’m noting your other omissions in my copy - thanks for sharing :flowers:

I do think that scarves that were not released as a 90 are often not included in her book.
also most “Men’s” scarves are not included.
There’s several 70cm only issue listings and a couple 100cm only issue included; I wish author would be more consistent.
I thought designs like Aaaargh! & Awoooo! were men’s collection- no? (I need to get more educated about this category)

I’m still working through your list and wanted to note that double-sided scarfs are included and use the code DF (double-faced).
Yes, it’s called “Impose ta chance.” This is the photo from the Spring-Summer 2004 scarf booklet. Is it listed correctly in the volume IV scarf book?

Interesting that it came with a border and without in the same season. How unusual! I wonder how many other designs that something similar happened to during a season?:flowers:

They were men’s, yes. So was C’est la Fête. She is definitely not consistent with her men’s scarves. I think she has more from recent years that earlier years.

You are right about the tag, of course. I for one would love to see records of whether a decimal was available in plisse amongst other categories :)

I assume the multiple-book situation arose from the need to:
* Make more money (it’s a business, after all)
* Perhaps she was ready to publish the 4th edition overall, but didn’t finish research and editing for the other books.

I can see it ok being ONE extra book for special + limited if the main book indicates there are special and limited editions, so you know to look. But two extra books sounds really troublesome to flip through.

Ideally, we just have one very thick book with everything and pay double (or whatever the price). Would be so worth it for me.

Re: Brides de Gala Fleuri. I think they are called Brides Fleuries and were listed in the 3rd edition, but with a note indicating Collection Carré précieux indicating the exceptional scarf, I believe. There was an embroidered exceptional version, but there was also a 90cm that was not embroidered; it had the embroidered pattern printed on it. I assume that Mme Fontan is putting the exceptional scarf in one of the extra books, but the regular scarf is omitted by accident.

* Marble Balade en Berline. Missing indeed, although I believe those scarves were treated as exceptional so would be special / limited. (But if the first one is listed, this one should be, too).
* Brides Fleuries — missing, you are spot on, see above
* BdG love — there was a 90cm scarf (not sure if same year as twilly). Definitely missing. Might be treated as special edition for Valentine’s.
* Arms of the United States bicentennial edition — definitely missing. It’s obviously a special edition, but was missing from the 3rd edition, too.

Another comment: on p. 22, the book says, ‘the scarves are available in 12 different colors’ — I assume it’s colorways that are being referred to. I can hardly think of a single design that was available in 12 colorways in the same season. Usually, it’s a lot fewer.
