It is not any easy process and requires patience. You need to have a relationship with an SA. I would recommend Jane but she is no longer accepting new clients but she's my SA and she is amazing. You do need to spend money in the store and build a profile because they need to see that you are in love with the brand and love their products. Once you have built a profile you are only allowed one Birkin and one Kelly per year/per profile. When you do get a Birkin/Kelly your profile gets cleared and in order to get another one you need to rebuild your profile. So honestly, you should visit the Hermes boutique frequently and essentially buy their other products if you really want to be offered a Birkin/Kelly.
From what I know, leathered bags do not count towards profile if you are trying to get a Birkin. You need to spend money on several different products that aren't leather (such as scarves, shoes, bracelets, perfume etc...)to have a better chance of getting your profile approved from "head office"
"Head office" approves the profile that gets the Birkin. So if someone else's profile is stronger and has spent more money they have a higher chance of getting the bag.
They don't look at the total amount you spent necessarily. They look at how many products you have bought from them. I know a friend that bought a jypsiere and an Evelyn bag which totalled over $13,000 but still haven't got a called for almost 2 years now.
Whereas, I visit the Hermes boutique frequently and purchase a lot of twillys, bracelets, shoes, wallets, gloves etc... And always have luck with getting called for birkins. Hope this helps!

hello all! Just curious what everyone has been told the bag "quota" is for this location? I was told recently as of 2017 it is now one Birkin or Kelly or Constance per year. I was surprised to hear this as in previous years it was generally one of the aforementioned bags every six months. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing this information! I am also slowly trying to build a profile for one day hoping to buy a B30... curious that you say leather does not count towards building your profile. Do belts count or not (they are leather)?
I think belt is consider to be accessories so it counts toward your b/k profile, you can always check with your SA as well
Leather means bags like evelyne, picotin, etc...
