My sister will visit London end of this month . Hopefully she can get a Lindy for me. ( my very first Hermes bag ) Do London boutiques usually have Lindy in stock, I prefer neutral colour like etain or taupe. Another silly question, my sister is at her mid-twenty, usually wear causal outfits, will they turn her down if she just ask for a Lindy bag. Thank you: )
with the pound is getting weaker most stores don't put bag on display ... you don't have to dress up in H stores in London but just ask the SA for the bag

Dear ladies,

May I ask how difficult it is for tourist to get a Kelly in London? And how much pre-purchase is required to be offered? My husband will be in London for a week and I so want to get my first Kelly as a pregnancy gift (it's super hard and super costly to get one where I live). Thank you so much in advance!

It's totally possible. Just saw it happen. It's up to the same things as all stores....be friendly and nice (of course!), know the brand really well, don't want the bag just as a status bag.....by no means is it easy but it happens. I think courtesy and understanding is key. The way I see customers treat London SAs is even worse than in Paris lately, perhaps because it is the new "bargain".

I totally agree with you!

you could divide by 1.2 for airport price ( so if your shawl is 760GBP, the airport price would be around 633 GBP, which is a savings of 16-17%). If you buy in Central London, the tax refund would be around 10-13%. But with H, just grab it be it in Central London or Airport.

I always think shop at airport is better (cheaper and no hassle) until my recent regret. I skipped a beautiful GP in Stockholm boutique, thinking that GP is easy to score in Paris airport. Big mistake  So, when you see the things you like, just grab it.
amazing! thanks for the great info! that's great advice.

I'm not sure yet if i'll definitely get a scarf... am waiting to be inspired if i see something i like, so perhaps will just go to the shop at LHR and hope there's something good!!!

really can't decide if i want to get a black-based one (def my most frequently used scarf) or something more colourful! lol

Long time Hermes lurker! DH and I just came back from London and unfortunately found that ALL the stores, including Harrods and Selfridges had "little/no inventory" on handbags. None of the retailers had anything and we were told that Paris was not shipping normally? DH and I went two days in a row (At all locations) as we were told to check the following day. We experienced the worse customer service at the Hermes location on Bruton Street.

Yesterday, I finally found the handbag I was looking for a couple hours before our flight out of Heathrow Terimal 3. The purse God's probably answered his prayers and saw how miserable my DH was from two days of looking .

With that being said, both my husband and I thought it was quite strange that initially, the SA who was helping us said they had no other stock but would "double check in the back" and low and behold, there were other colors.

Since I'm new to Hermes, is this normal that there is low inventory or are SA simply hiding stock in the back?

do you mean new bond st? yes with the pound is not as strong as it used to be all stores tend to hide the bag at the back but no harm asking this is due to so many tourists start coming to UK to shop ... i think we have more bags, slgs online rather than in store

Yeah, the New Bond Street... you don't even know how many times I asked SA if they had the purse and every time they said "no". I'm just glad I was able to get it at Heathrow.

Sorry to hear of your unpleasant experience at Bond St. Out of curiosity, may I ask what bag was it that you were looking for?

That's pretty normal. I was in LHR T3 yesterday and a couple came in asking for a Garden Party. They didn't have any on display but the SA brought out two different sizes/colors from the back. I also noticed that they seemed to have lots of items available that were not on display at the Harrods, Selfridges, and Sloane Street stores. For example, there was a woman at Harrods trying on CSGM shawls and none of the designs she was trying were in any of the display cases.

I managed to score a pair of ankle boots at the Hermès in T3 at a fantastic price so I am very happy!
