Dear ladies,

May I ask how difficult it is for tourist to get a Kelly in London? And how much pre-purchase is required to be offered? My husband will be in London for a week and I so want to get my first Kelly as a pregnancy gift (it's super hard and super costly to get one where I live). Thank you so much in advance!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! A new Kelly is a fabulous way to celebrate. In my limited experience with boutiques in London, I have found that they prefer you to buy other things prior to asking for a B or K and showing a general interest in the brand also helps. We were in London recently to celebrate a special occasion; we bought some shoes, a wallet and a silver bracelet before being offered a kelly. They were lovely in the two boutiques I visited. Ultimately, I did not take the kelly because I like smaller bags on my frame. Good luck! Be well, and hope your DH finds your dream bag!

Thank you luckylove! Which two boutiques did you visit?

My sister will visit London end of this month . Hopefully she can get a Lindy for me. ( my very first Hermes bag ) Do London boutiques usually have Lindy in stock, I prefer neutral colour like etain or taupe. Another silly question, my sister is at her mid-twenty, usually wear causal outfits, will they turn her down if she just ask for a Lindy bag. Thank you: )

The SAs in London are generally friendly and helpful ! I scored my Lindy in Bond St last year Dec. I came early and they took out 2 Lindys for me and another lady to choose. Hope you can get the Lindy soon :)

Dear ladyjane 963,
Yes, i just found out that only Glasgow has hermes store so i've changed my itinerary to visit Glasgow! Do you mind let me know is there any chance to score a birkin for walk in customers? Thanks.
Sorry didn't reply sooner, as I am a long standing customer and this is my only store for buying my H I have always ordered my bags so don't know for sure how easy it might be to get one right away but I think chance will be very slim, but good luck and enjoy your trip and shopping.

Hi all,
I'll be stopping by London for a business trip in a couple of weeks, and OMG must take advantage of the crazy exchange rates and do some luxury shopping :) (thanks, Brexit... though if ***** wins on the 8th, my hopes might be dashed along w/ my investments lol)

Anyhow, I have already looked in the LV discounts (woohoo, will definitely be making a stop at Terminal 5's LV shop for appx. 17% off), but did not (easily) find a thread here on Hermes.

Specifically with Hermes, I'm interested in one of the cashmere/silk shawls (140x140) as a xmas gift for mom. These are priced at 760 GBP on the UK H website, but I presume there is a VAT discount at the LHR shop. Could someone share what the percent discount is?

Is it better to shop in London (and get a VAT refund at the airport) or just do it all at the airport without the hassle of waiting in line? Is there a %-discount difference?

Ok, thanks so much for the help!

I don't know what the percent difference is right now, but I am currently in London and will find out the airport price when I depart on Sunday. I am also looking to take advantage of the relatively weak pound while I'm here!

you could divide by 1.2 for airport price ( so if your shawl is 760GBP, the airport price would be around 633 GBP, which is a savings of 16-17%). If you buy in Central London, the tax refund would be around 10-13%. But with H, just grab it be it in Central London or Airport.

I always think shop at airport is better (cheaper and no hassle) until my recent regret. I skipped a beautiful GP in Stockholm boutique, thinking that GP is easy to score in Paris airport. Big mistake :( So, when you see the things you like, just grab it.

Airport price will be cheaper than normal price minus the VAT refund due to admin charges on the refund. But with H, you can never guarantee stock availability so I would grab the pattern I like wherever I see it if I were you. You may not find it again at the airport etc.
