Long post warning! But I did get a B...!

I've got nothing but praise for the NBS store. I went in around September for the first time (I'm a Londoner so it's not far) on a Friday afternoon and it was completely dead - I think I may have been the only one in the store! At this moment in time I wasn't after anything specific and stuck up a chat with one of the SA's (who turned out to be the leather department manager!), who was absolutely lovely and so accommodating. Spent about 10-15 mins chatting with her about everything Hermes and ended up buying a few perfumes for myself and my Mother. Inquired about a clic clic and she showed me one, I tried it on but decided not to buy it that day. She gave me her card, wrote down the specifics for the clic clic and told me to email her if I ever wanted to reserve something in advance. Left the store feeling really well treated and wanting to return sometime next week.

Anyways, I went back about a week later with my boyfriend (on saturday), waited to be served by the same SA for about 10-15 mins. She recognised me immediately and came over, had a bit of chit chat, bought my clic clic which I'd seen previously and I then asked about buying a B. She said they don't get deliveries on Saturday so there weren't any in stock atm, but to come back next week and she would help me. I was so shocked she asked me to come back!

Went back 3 days later, talked to the same SA, enquired about 30/35 Birkin, black, didn't mind which leather/hardware. She went to the stock room and returned with a big orange box! She took me over to a quiet corner and drew a curtain so no one else could see what I was being offered. It was a 30B Epsom leather GHW! Unfortunately it was too small for me, and I found the epsom leather to be too structured for my liking, so i had to decline it. However my SA insisted I came back again as at least we now knew that I wanted a 35B in Togo and she would help me next time.

I returned about 3 days later, my SA wasn't working that day, so I enquired about any B and was told by a different SA they had no B and they had all sold earlier that morning (it was 11am...).

I was starting to give up hope, but I decided to go one last day this Monday. I arrived early (12pm) and saw my SA immediately, asked if they had had any delivery today, she said no not yet but she thought they could have one later. So I said I could wait until about 1pm and then would have to go. Settled myself in a chair and started to read one of the Hermes magazines (really interesting I would definitely recommend them!). She came back at 1:15pm and said unfortunately there had still be no delivery and she was going on her lunch break, I asked about coming back later and she said she couldn't promise if there would be a delivery, but ifI I had the time then why not?

I went of to Pret a Manger, had a nice lunch, did a bit of work and then returned at about 3pm. My SA was serving another client so I waited patiently, when she went to get something for her other client she walked past me and told me to stay waiting as she had something for me! She finished up with her client (he had just bought a matt yellow croc 32 K!!) and took me to the same viewing area as previously and asked me to wait there while she went and got me my bag. Returned with a 35B size box and brought out......

A 35B black togo PHW!! I said yes immediately, and thanked her profusely. We then went to the twilly counter and bought some twillies for my bag. Upon leaving my SA told me to email her whenever I was coming in so she could definitely serve me, I thanked her again and hopped in a cab home.

I wore simple outfits (i'm 18yo so nothing that fancy) like yoga pants and converse each time, and was always polite and patient even when I was waiting for longer periods of time.

Just my 2 cents!

Congrats :-)
I think this goes to show its the quality of SA relationship not just the quantity / money amount you buy.
I'm thinking it may be worth to buy numerous small things not just to get a spend history but to meet a SA that you click with like Oliva has . Olivia you have a great SA for life at NBS . You lucky thing !

Many sincere congrats, it's great to find a lovely SA and I I know yours is extremely nice indeed. From what I know I really think they do enjoy helping customers who are considered local and are looking to establish a relationship with them. Fabulous decision to buy a good quality bag at your age, I wish you a long and happy relationship at Bond St!

Congratulations! Your story sounds lovely. It really is all about meeting the right SA, so definitely stick with this one
Also, so lucky to start young, I wish I didn't waste so much time (and money!) on other brands when I was younger

if it's not on display whether to still ask for one

Always ask! sometimes they have more items than space, so they keep them in the back room.
You don't need a purchase history for Evelyne, it's more about current availability. You could ask for the best time to visit boutique and see what they say (last year at Harrods they told me I should try after lunch so roughly one o'clock).

Thanks everyone! I think the key is to show that you are interested in the brand and not just B/K. I had done my research about everything before and my SA even mentioned to me that I was well informed! It is also about the relationship you make, when I asked my SA do they sell to walk-in often she said that whatever they have in the stock room, if requested, they sell (although I'm not sure how true that is...) to anyone. However I think that they are still quite picky about walk-in's as when I was waiting before being offered my bag another client asked about a black B and was told they had none in stock ?? I also make sure I go in every 3 or so weeks just to say hi to my SA, maybe buy a small thing (like another twilly) that i actually want (not just for the sake of it) and show her that I'll still keep coming back even after I bought my B.
I know I was so lucky to be offered one! Especially my HG combination! I think my SA really enjoys working there and loves her job which helps!

This is so lucky! Now I am tempted to try NBS. But I have a SA at Harrods already and I had spent nearly 18k in Aug and then I made some small purchase throughout Sep and Oct. I recently got an orange K25 from this SA. I have a feeling that I need to buy some jewelry first before I can ask for a B next time. Should I stick with this SA or try NBS because NBS generally have more stock (and I want to get a B soon)?

My advice is to stick to your SA. Harrods gets a lot of fabulous items and you already have a good purchase history. Don't forget anyway that your purchase of a K25 is counted in your 6 month quota across all UK stores. I think you could probably get a Birkin by Christmas. Best of luck!

Oh! I thought the 6 month quota only applies in Paris. I need to wait for 6 more month then :(
