Hi all need your tips in scoring a bag in london during early dec :) just be straight forward to the SA or warm up chit chat is preferred like FSH ? :) Not eyeing B or K. Maybe Lindy or Kelly Pochette ? Are they rare in London ? Any advise which boutique is easier to score for tourist ? Thank you so much !

Erm I have to say it's possible but very rare compared to chances at FSH. Buying your piece of jewellery may help, but no there are no guarantees, plus the bag you are offered may not be the specs you actually want.

I spent £13000 in the past 3 weeks, and the SA told me I am still not that VIP to be offered a Birkin.. I give up now. I think better chance to try in Japan or Spain.

Sorry to hear that you were not offered bags you want. Spending £13,000 will not make you a VIP in any Hermes store however, you don't have to be an VIP to be offered bags. Good luck with your search.

I did not say I expected myself would become a VIP by spending just £13000 in 3 weeks ( I was new to the store and I understand relationship takes time to develope). I just repeated how the SA told me.
And the information I got from the SA. YES I do not need to be an VIP to be offered a bag. But I have to spend (a lot???) to be offered a Birkin or Kelly.

She told me: i tell you frankly, we have many clients here, many of them spent a lot, and even we have a Birkin, I have to get my manager's permission before offering to clients.

My guess is : different stores may have different management systems?? It depends on the store manager??

fresher- will you be coming back to the UK or is this a one of trip ?

might be worth a thought to stick with that sa if you do come back to the uk and build a relationship as so to be offered something on your wish list .

I feel your pain though on not getting the bag you wanted fingers crossed you are more successful when you try again .

I feel your frustration and disappointment
In a way your sa is right
13k pound in h contact is not a lot esp big cities
3 weeks of relationship is kinda short
Yes she is being frank and open
I know you are not looking to be a vip
But i am sure there is a nicer better way to tell you
Cant just give a little bit more hope or time
my suggestion is since you already spent that amount
Dont give up otherwise wasted
You pace your spending and observe
Continue a while more see if she will offer you being loyalty
Let her and sm knows you better
Cheer up

Hi Yasarm. I live in the UK. But that was the first time I attempted to build a relationship with a SA

Thanks for comformting bagidiotic.
I understand how open and honest the SA is.
But it's just kind of put me off to know that I'm kind of never get a chance to be offered a Birkin or Kelly.;(

I think I will still go to their store but I may only buy what I really want.
But not what they offer.

Hi fresher, just continue to stick with the same store & SA, buy only what you like & need. Don't feel pressured to buy what they offer you. It's your hard earned money at the end of the day! Miracles can happen, you never know. If you ever travel overseas, just try your luck & see what bags or accessories that you can find. These will also serve as good memories of your trip! Don't worry, I'm sure there's a B or K out there with your name on it. Best of luck! :smile1:

I think you just need to pace yourself. The bag will come. I find that it's more about spending over time rather than spending in a short time. And by that I mean over a few months. Personally there are times I walk out empty handed. Gd luck with your H journey!

13,000 pounds is a lot over only 3 weeks. I know for sure if you spent this much in a French boutique you would be offered a birkin if there is one available.

I have witness a shopper spending over 21,000 Euros in a Spanish boutique and all that was offered was a toile Garden Party.

I think it's best to be as upfront with SAs as they are to you. If you ask how can I ever be considered for 'bag X', they will prob tell you. In London money is not the whole story. They have more B/K worthy (regular) clients than they can handle. Regular clients will always come first because they may spend 13K and more every year regardless of how many bags etc.

I have to agree that it is all too easy to spend £13K at once in a large H.

I've seen tourists being offered Birkins first time in, but that's after trawling through the store spending round £13 on RTW, shoes, fine jewellery and home wear.

Buying 'other' bags, small accessories, fragrance, bag charms, twillys and exotic cuffs etc won't give you the same profile because they know they can sell those every day of the week.

In the last few weeks, Lindy's have been on open display in some of the London stores. It might be worth ringing ahead and asking about stock levels, or leaving your details if one comes in. Personally, I'd follow the phone request up with a store visit once you are in London.
