Thank you so much. I didn’t actually pre-spend anything during the period, hence the surprise. I just went in and put my name down with the specific requests and out of the blue on Friday, I got the lovely email.
Can l ask did you requested 35 size or it was offered to you ,l also put my wish in September at Sloans street boutique and nothing

I think it might be more convenient than lugging the stuff around as the boutique arranges everything. of course you may be charged customs and state sales tax, but the idea is not to be tax free but to pay the tax where you reside. DHL does not always charge even if the amount is larger than the first 800 USD exemption IDKW. Since prices are somewhat harmonized for the brands I purchase, I do tend to stick to my home boutique as easier though.

thank you for your explanation

Ah that's interesting to hear.

With my first Birkin (back in the smaller Sloane Street), my SA took me downstairs to the lower ground men's area to show me the bag.

At Harrods though, the SA took me to a room in the Hermes Fine Jewellery concession to show me the bag, away from the main concession area.

But now, with the latest Birkin, in the Cadogan Place boutique, the SA just showed me the bag in the open on the ground floor, which meant that I had an audience while viewing the bag lol. I even had someone come up to me while the SA was wrapping my B35 up, interrogating me about how long I was on the waitlist and even offering me 10% more than what I paid for.

Wowee. This is why they should have shown you your bag in private. So far they have shown me my bags in private at Bond St unless it really was not possible, which is rare, as they can use the home section and close that area off.

Yeah that would have been best.

1) It would have felt a little bit more special having the bag shown in a private space.
2) It felt quite uncomfortable having death stares from observers (this one family had quite an intense gaze lol!), and being questioned about why I was offered a bag so quickly and without pre-spend...

Alas they don’t understand that spend is never everything, for a long time customer, with a relationship at the store. But wow. Boundaries!
