I was genuinely prepared to bite the bullet and buy a picotin today. I just moved to the UK so don't have a profile (but I do have one in Australia). I went to Selfridges, Bond Street and Harrods and got told at each one that no picotins were available. Are we seriously at the point where I have to play the game for a picotin? Is it genuinely just a supply chain issue? Or did they just not like me?

I'm going to Dublin this weekend - anyone think I'll have better luck there?

Did you ask for Picotin 22 or 18? The smaller size is harder to get, but I don’t think one needs to ‘play the game’ for Picotins, they likely genuinely didn’t have any in stock.

I never shopped in the Dublin H but definitely worth asking (and also check at the airport if you are flying from a terminal that has a store - I have seen people finding non-quota bags at airport stores). In any case, don’t get disheartened. Bag stock is generally low and the Picotin is quite popular especially the 18 so it’s not in likely none were available. Did you get a card from any of the SAs you spoke with? It may be worth dropping them an email with to say you’d like to get one and the specs you are after? You never know

Take me for example, I met my SA last year when I went in to check out a scarf that H Customer Services tracked down for me as available in the particular store. I really enjoyed shopping with them and got their card. About a month or so later (after we went into lockdown) I emailed looking for a non-quota bag and got a reply there were none in stock, then, after after a few weeks I got a text to ask me whether I was still interested because the bag was available…

Good luck!:flowers:

I think any bags are genuinely in short supply, but there were 6-8 picotins on the uk website recently which stayed there for a couple of hours, so always worth checking there.

Hope you have a blast in Dublin!

Which store was this if I might ask?

Hi all  just thought I’d give an update on my recent store experience.

Wanted to go into the store to amend my wish to make it slightly broader. Had a bit of a traumatic journey as was in a collision on the way to the boutique in a taxi and the taxi driver drove off (it was definitely the taxi driver’s fault! He drove into the back of the other car!). Thankfully no one was hurt, but there was then an altercation between him and the bumped driver when he finally pulled over… I was on my own and safe to say I was traumatised. Anyway not that any of you needed to know this but after my experience I was in the mood to spend

Went to Harrods with a big list (not been to the boutique in a while) and they had nothing… literally nothing or anything remotely similar or in my size! Same story at NBS.

At NBS I did see a gorgeous 24/24 21 in (I think) etoupe which was for sale but sadly too small. They had a beautiful (display only) bolide 25 which I’m considering asking my SA for as a non-quota bag if I can get one - it was a really nice size and so understated. I loved it.

I did hear a man complaining (very loudly) about his wife’s wish. The SA was very professional and apologetic and explained they have so many wishes they simply cannot fulfil them all straight away. He carried on - it was not a good look.

so after that traumatising experience I left with nothing! But at least productive in that I amended my wish. Hope stock levels improve soon!

I think its a mixture of low stock generally at the moment and because The Picotin is an entry level price point bag(like Evelyne and Herbag) there will always be a high demand for it as its a Hermes bag at an accessible price.
Dont give up its a matter of timing.

Glad to hear that you’re OK! Out of curiosity, what did you have on your shopping list that Harrods and NBS didn’t have?

Firstly, glad to hear you were not hurt as some people are crazy inconsiderate drivers.
Thanks for the update on stock levels. I just wanted to add that I have the 2424 mini and although small it definitely fits a lot. It’s my favourite bag and if I will definitely be adding more to my collection.

Thank you! And that’s interesting to know. I had a look but it felt really small on my frame. Maybe I’ll try it again if I see one in the summer. Thought it could look cute with summer dresses etc.

Thank you!

Broadly, for homeware I was looking for 2 x grey pillows, 2 x grey blankets, 1 of any neutral classic Avalon as a gift, Harrods didn’t have anything suitable (or anything for me!), save for one grey blanket on display which I didn’t like, NBS had one grey blanket they showed me from the back but it wasn’t really for me, a little plain. If anyone is looking for brighter coloured blankets NBS seemed very well stocked on that front.

Still no sushi trays, save for the passifolia at Harrods. I’ve started to try put together a mosaique tableware set, but neither had anything new to add. My SA had requested 2 back in July - still no sign. Seen the odd one pop up online but always been too slow.

Wanted a kelly pocket compact or kelly for my sister in any neutral any leather, nothing available.

Neo and saint germain boots with the permabrass hardware - nothing in my size (didn’t see them out at NBS at all, just palladium, annoyed I didn’t buy online earlier in the year, they are all small sized at the moment. NBS said Selfridges had a half size down in the neos, but my naturel neos I got last year are a half size down and I wish I’d stuck with my size so could wear thicker socks).

Cashmere scarves. Wanted a new winter scarf, didn’t like any of the stock.

Hope that helps!

The tableware shortage pain is real :noworry: The website does have some surprising finds now and then and they don’t go anywhere nearly as quickly as the bags or Rodeos so keep checking! Kelly wallets in regular leather I also find are very hard to get, even in Paris (and it’s not because they ‘play the game’, they genuinely don’t have stock).

Thank you. That’s helpful.

Just recognised a typo in my post… I meant a Kelly pocket compact or a Kelly WALLET, not a Kelly  I definitely did not go in and ask for a Kelly pocket compact or a Kelly in any neutral colour:lol: but yes you are right! They had some Kelly wallets in Ostrich but nothing neutral in any regular leather.
