I popped in to NBS on the weekend as a walk-in and I can honestly say I was shocked at the experience (and not pleasantly so). I would describe it as almost a feeding frenzy, the sense I got from customers was like “please take my money, I just wanna buy something” and kinda distasteful although the SA’s did their best to remain cheerful even though visibly stressed. It was hard to get anyone’s attention and stocks were low in every department when you could get someone to even talk to you. Not just H either to be fair…. My wallet breathed a huge sigh of relief tho!

I had a similar experience a few weeks ago in H and Chanel and haven't shopped since! Just not as appealing in these circumstances, and after we had the luxury of appointments during COVID...

Hi, if you are not interested in BKC, (I have my home flagship for that) will SAs make time for walk in customers in London ? DH and I are planning a few trips (we are Donmar theater fans), and I’m always interested in at least looking at what shops abroad have to offer. I only ask bc in Italy, the H shops (Milan, Rome) were packed with locals to the point where as a tourist, I had a tough time getting any SA’s attention. (I am relatively low key and low maintenance and usually interested in select RTW (without alteration), some fine jewelery and home). If it’s a problem, DH and I will just shop at Edward Green, John Locke, Turnbull, and Dior where they have time for walk ins lol.

@WhiteBus, your post above re thank you texts made me laugh. I buy most items through my home SAs; I always text a brief enthusiastic thank you without any queries so it’s clear no response is required. (I usually get an emoticon). Small courtesies (not just to H SAs) serve me well in the long run, and it’s a good habit to have. I also never take boxes, ribbon, or packaging, so I won’t adversely affect the dwindling Brexit supply.
I would recommend avoiding the ground floor H concession in Harrods; unless things have changed very recently, they operate a queue to even just get in and browse which is horrendous not just at weekends. BUT, if you’re only interested in RTW and tableware, just head to the 1st & 3rd floors respectively and the atmosphere is completely different, no queue and SAs are pleasant and very helpful

Though I must add that the inventory for tableware is depressing  The ‘display only’ collections however are still lovely, you just can’t buy them (much like the BKCs:lol:).

Just ask if you can book an appointment, not guaranteed unless you have an SA in whichever store, then ask when you get there. It'll probably be dependent on how much other stuff you amass before asking as to how sympathetic they'll be.
I would have thought that with the wishlist system it’s not possible to get a BKC as a walk-in? Or do you mean one could theoretically come to a store, set up a wishlist, spend £££££ and immediately get the wish granted on the same day? :oh:

thank you @Gelato for all the tips re both Harrods and tableware! I assume if you spent like 100K or a saddle, that a desired bag somehow could be unearthed from the back

Yes, this is how it felt in Italy. The SAs were extremely busy rushing around helping swarms of what looked to me like local customers. (But in early September, there seemed to be a lot of stock). ITA with @frenchcitygirl that the feeding frenzy is not pleasant or luxurious

Just to add popped by NBS on Tuesday (!) around 1300 to see the nail polishes and a few scarves online which were shown in stock there. Err...train station. No one opened the door, no one spoke to me after standing about 3 minutes on the ground floor, there was no one on 1st near makeup and after another 3 or so minutes finally the host asked if I needed help. Shocking.

Went next door to Chanel and Chanel fine jewelry and then came back, when it was a bit better and finally someone to show me the nail polishes. There was no stock though!

I prefer to shop during the week but went to Selfridges this afternoon following a message from my SA that my wish list bag has arrived. It was very busy and I believe some of the walk-in customers had to wait for quite a long time before being served. And I heard people complaining about how long the queue is and where there are on the list..
Congrats on your new bag! Can you share the specs?
