Hermes boutiques in London

Hi everyone. I’ve found the comments and advice on here really helpful so thought I would share my wish list experience with you all. I usually shop in Paris so am fairly new to London boutiques. I placed a wish in December at NBS, then changed the request in February. It expired at the start of July and I didn’t renew the wish as my SA was unavailable and also I don’t live in London (I visit maybe twice a year). I was planning to renew / make a new wish on my next visit at the end of September. A week ago I got an email telling me my wish had arrived! This was 7 weeks after the wish had expired. So I have no idea how this all works. It seems a bit random to me
Congrats! Were they able to ship the bag to you or did you have to pick it up in person yourself? Curious because I also don’t live in London.

The main thing is what we are going to wear, this is practically an event in itself. (Or shall I start a new thread where we can post goodies as well? )What are you wearing, I ve been so starved of any events… I’m more interested in what to wear than the actual shopping.
For me this isn’t an event it’s just a sale and the same as the ones held in Paris. I’m not dressing up, just keeping it casual and simple.

My shopping is done at Selfridges and I also received the invite.
Same.

My friend rec'd an invite but I did not, which is a bit of a surprise. However I used to go pretty regularly to Paris and would say if you are local it is always worth going. I was introduced to some lovely departments through sale items such as hats, gloves, towels and RTW.
yes I've attended other private sales in London but they were a while back and were mainly RTW, scarves, shoes and gloves, hats etc.
I haven't had an invite to this one yet.
I received an invite to the private sale which I was surprised by as I’ve only ever brought my first 2 item (cheapest items) a couple months back. I also received an invite to the event they had a little while back that I don’t go to. is the private sale good? Is it only seasonal stuff. I’m very new to the brand.

How busy was it - did you have to queue to get in? Are you allocated a specific time?
This was way before Covid and I didn’t need to queue from memory ( or if I did only 10 mins or something) I got given invitations both times by the SM of the store and there weren’t allocated slots just two days of sale with opening and closing times. Both sales were in the Mayfair area.
the first one was fabulous with a really good selection of product ( no bags but SLG) the 2nd one I didn’t purchase anything it was mainly RTW and scarves not many shoes or any other categories but I think I went quite late.
the first sale I attended was when Hermès was more ‘exclusive’ and less of a reseller magnet the more recent sale was definitely attracting less real fans but more people just buying because of the name.

I'm hoping to go to this one but had seen videos on Youtube of the Paris sale and it seemed chaotic so was bracing myself - Although that one seemed to be a public sale whereas this seems more exclusive. Having said that there seem to have been a broad invite list - my friend from Ireland has an invite and he has never shopped in London!

Me too! How exciting
You guys are so lucky to be invited to the H sale! I’m sitting over here dreaming of just having a nice customer experience with an H SA! I think I’m a nice customer- I’m never demanding and I’m always polite. While I’m not Bill Gates wealthy I have coins to spend. I don’t understand how to be an H customer- particularly when all I’ve ever requested from an SA are non quota bag items and they still don’t deem my cash worthy enough to take/ Ignore me. It’s kind of demoralising- I’m thinking that it’s likely I’ll never become a long term customer- which is what I have become with Chanel. If anyone has any tips or can add a ray of Hermes sunshine to my doom it would be much appreciated.

btw I really do hope everyone enjoys the sale!

Have you bought any non-leather items so far and found someone you click with? Usually you need a history for highly coveted non-quota bags, though I am not sure what you are looking for from your post.

I have bought all non leather items- I mentioned recently that I had an SA at Cadogan- who seemed nice enough but they just ghosted me. I was buying shoes, pillows, blankets, scarves from them but they just stopped responding to my emails. I will say- I don't think we 'clicked', but nevertheless if they'd responded I would have gone into the store to buy the items. I would eventually like a quota bag and strangely enough they did open a wish list for me- which I very much doubt will be fulfilled-but I also like lots of other things from H. But this isn't the first bad experience I've had with H within a five month period. I'm just wondering if I drag myself over to H at Bond Street will I be served up more of the same?

Sorry to hear of your experience. Such a shame as so many shops I’m sure would jump at the chance to have your custom. I did shift to Chanel a few years ago and found it quite refreshing. But it’s the product which brought me back. I have had a similar ambivalent response at Cadogan but i think it depends on which SA you get. I was pleasantly surprised by Bond St on Friday. They could not have been lovelier. My line was “my main relationship is with Cadogan but I was in the area and thought I would pop in”. I was seen straight away and my wish for two really popular scarves was put on the system. Nothing to lose in trying. Good luck!

The public and private sales in Paris are 2 completely different experiences, the former is sedate where you have time to peruse and select what you want whereas the latter is more fraught and you have to decide quickly which counter you want to purchase from quickly. When I went to the public sale with a friend (over 10 years ago) we were at the front of the line and I ran to the silks and she ran to the SLGs and then afterwards we went through what we wanted to keep and what we would return to the counters. There was a lot of pushing and jostling at the popular counters and several ‘customers’ on phones relaying stock info. These days there is a time limit imposed at each counter and a quota for how much you can purchase at The public sale.
