Thank you for the response. Another quick question, I have about £20k of online shopping history, would that “count” or be on the uk database if I were to pop into selfridges to try and score or would I need a relationship with an SA? Sorry for the questions.
Erm. DOn't take my word for it, but based on my readings on this forum, I don't think online purchases count unless it was your SA who made the order for you in store...

Hi there, I’m based in the UK and order both online and in person at the boutiques, on a recent visit to Harrods the SA that served me looked up my profile and noted that I had two, I asked if the email addresses were the same and he said no, one was a Hermes address which had pretty much all of my purchases, he was able to see what I had recently bought from other stores and some online items and also my a la carte order. He looked at the other profile and it appeared that those were web purchases but could be when I ordered from the french online store. Anyway... each of the profiles showed a total spend so when they look you up they’ll know you’re a customer of the brand.

That is most helpful, thank you for letting me know :)

In my own experience all the Hermes stores in London have differnig strengths and weaknesses;
Harrods - I would avoid like the plague no matter what, it is always crowded and for the items they routinely stock just not worth it. They occasionally have rarer items in teh back but it takes them ages to get and they do everyone is trying to buy it once its brought out front. If you can track down an item though they will sell it and not often hold it back. Just don't go in with high hopes, they sell out of the good stuff!! within minutes of opening although tehy can get deliveries at any time.
Selfridges - The new concession is perhaps 2.5 times the size of the Harrods midget store and stocks a wider variety, however, bar silks and costume jewellery, most leather goods are usually reserved for their regular clientele as they seem to get the least deliveries in London. However, there are a few very nice SA's there who can sometimes be obliged to offer their help! If you can get theri attention that is
NBS - Is far more of a walk-in store and the clientele base has a reasonable percentage of tourists, if you want a b/k/c this is your best chance, even if in general I would argue getting a bag in London is possibly one of the hardest cities in the world to score in, particularly at the moment. They have massive stock and if it is not on show just ask as there is usually something in the back. They may not offer it though:P
Sloane Street/ CP - This is my personal store of choice and I have built a relationship with at least 3 of the Staff there. This is in general the store for Londoners and it has a strong clientele list. The new staff are so much better than even a couple of years ago and more approachable. However, I would argue this is the hardest place to buy a b/k/c as they are all reserved for clients and even getting onto their wishlist is a miracle. It has great choice and they are very open about ordering things in, which is unusual.
These are just my opinions and I am a regular client at SS for at least 3 years, so this maybe biased in my preference. I hope this helps for those who are looking at the best places to buy in London - it is indeed hard without a relationship.

What a helpful post, even for a Londoner! Your view on stocks is very interesting.

I second @PJW5813, Royal Exchange like walking into a cozy familiar place ...

Sorry I completely forgot about the Royal Exchange!! I have only been a handful of times but in my experience they have the most consistently good service without a personal relationship. It is a tiny store and I concur very friendly, but I have never seen a b/k/c on show. This maybe becuase they get limited shipments, which would not surprise me, after all it mainly caters for office workers during lunch hours. However, I know they do get shipments but they are usually reserved for the regulars. Other than that if you are looking for an older season style or colour they may have it as large item turnover is less than that of the others.

If you are after exotics SS is the place to go they had a Birkin 30 rouge coeur?? for sale on the shelf last weekend not a display only bag!! The same for a Jige in bleu nuit croc and another in bright red!! I was suprised. This is why I think its the best. I'm going into today to pick up 2 things so I'll keep my eyes peeled:wtf:

Thank you so much for the positive comments. I've been on this thread for a while and haven't seen an updated comparison in a few years and a lot has changed with regards to offerings due to the currency rate and political climate. I still think trying to get one without a relationship in London is near impossible though - its just that kind of city.

The SM knows her clientele well enough not to overstock, so I wouldn't expect space in the stock room to be taken up with older season inventory.
Clearly things have changed since the last time I went. About two years ago I was looking for a Kellly Double Tour in a particular blue which was not produced anymore and they still had it in stock. Maybe this was a one off? It is nevertheless a very small store with a limited range

Sloane Street had very limited stock in regards to enamel jewellery. Hardly any sizes available and very limited range of choices including virtually no clic clacs. However, they have quite a few CDC's in exotic including a ghw croc in rouge coeur - they clearly have quite a few in the back as I bought one about 2 weeks ago. This week they had a Birkin 30 in a bright red (unsure of exact colour) and the same two croc clutches a jige and kelly cut in blue and red resepctively. They're scarf collection is well stocked however including all accessoriries available.
