I’ve been H shopping in London for over 20 years and let me tell you that service now is vastly improved !
In the old days the old dragon in Sloane Street behaved like a headmistress and I was too ingenuous to stand up to her , therefore bought items she decreed suitable rather than my choices.
Well those days are over, I find all the stores except Harrods excellent in their service although the hanging around waiting to be served is a pain .I just don’t bother waiting if it’s too busy , but for those who don’t have regular access to a store it must be upsetting.
One thing they do need to get across to their staff is that customers waiting shouldn’t be ignored; a nod or smile is enough to reassure people that they will be attended to ASAP.
As far as quotas etc are concerned it’s anathema to me, I’d rather carry a Tesco carrier than buy into that dodgy philosophy:drool:

They used to accept returns though [emoji848]!

Im sorry but as a long time selfridge customer in london, bond street have treated me like ****, not accepting exchanges from stuff i bough from selfridges items and being just down rite rude. My first horrible experience was when I was was trying to decide between a two rings one with diamond and one without and they flat out told me a bag will not appear if u get the diamond one. I did not even have any intention of getting a bag nor ask them about it
I frequent both stores, more so than the others and in my experience you cannot just return or exchange stock bought from Selfridges at Bond St at least with no prior arrangement as they are not a standalone store (you cant even collect online orders in there or at Harrods). I was in a similar situation and I had to return incorrect items I was sold at Selfridges and then go to Bond St and repurchase there as that's where they had stock of the correct item. As for the ring matter to me it sounds like the SA was trying to help you come to a decision without you being influenced by the prospect of getting a bag..
Depends who says so, if is a long time customer then we should take it into consideration! [emoji6][emoji848] In my opinion the problem isn't the employees but their all over the place changing policies!!!!
Yes I somewhat agree with this but as none of us are present at these incidents it’s still only one side of the story and personally while I would keep it in the back of my mind I would not take the word of one person over my own experience to decide whether I would visit a store or not. As for the policies yes they are forever changing but they have to do this to get the most from their business model.

Sloane street used to be such a scary place! It is lovely now, everyone is so kind and helpful.

Of course not , if you are a satisfied customer you will continue to shop in a place where you find good service! Nothing will change it [emoji3]

If you read this entire thread, actually, if you just read just a few pages back, you will see all London stores have received good and bad reviews. The thing is bad SAs are not just any one H store's speciality, bad SAs are not even a Hermes speciality. You can get bad SAs in any store in the world!

Some SAs are just lazy, some don't care, or don't need the commission (you should see some SA's several-carat engagement rings), disorganised, forgetful etc etc. If they don't get back to you on something, the reason could be many, including again, they may be too lazy, they may have forgotten, they may have followed up but it wasn't available but they were too lazy or forgot to let you know. But very rarely it's something against you personally. For most SAs, it's just a job and they don't have anything personally against you. They are not plotting some personal vendetta against you. It's just a job and some are good at their jobs and some are not. And let's be honest with ourselves, 90% of the people hate their jobs anyway. With Hermes product pretty much sell themselves and store being so busy, there is no surprise some SAs don't follow up.

Also, during the holiday season is the worst because they hire temps. By now they all have left the store after the season is over and you will never hear from them again.

Store rules are set by higher management, don't assume it shouldn't apply to you. For sure rules can be broken but it's not a given right but a privilege. Work with your store to minimise the disruption to their rules.

If you can't find another store's SA working well with you, stick with the one that does and ask them to transfer the items over. And don't take it personally because really it isn't in 99% of the cases.

Just my 0.2 cent.

Have H on the brain and as it's cold here in London figure it's a good time to buy some gloves.

Went to Selfridges at lunch for the Chanel sales and stopped into the H concession just to try for size.

There were about 10 clients dotted around and almost as many SAs. Most were not helping anyone directly, and I was in the "store" for about 5 minutes before anyone made eye contact. I understand that SAs can be occupied while it looks like they are doing nothing and a few gave me the impression they were occupied. But when I tried to get someone's attention from a group of three that were discussing amongst themselves, two passed me with very little acknowledgment and the third stopped to help me.

While she was showing me the gloves I saw two SAs chatting together spraying themselves with perfume - not looking very available to assist. I almost felt like they might be seasonal!

The SA who did help was lovely, was wearing CDC belt and bracelet in a way that made me think twice. No London stores have the combo I want but it's available online.

I too have a feeling that some of the SA’s are seasonal temps who really don’t care about customer service standards. I’ve never encountered perm H SA’s behave like that!

A few years ago my boyfriend bought me a clic from H Selfridges as a surprise gift. He didn’t really check it and they just boxed it up. When I opened it he noticed that it was all scratched on the palladium (where the hinge is). Of course I took it back to H Selfridges where they insinuated that I had worn it and caused the damage because of course, they don’t sell goods in that condition. I was mildly insulted but explained that when I opened it, there was no protective film on it to begin with and that the receipt clearly showed that it was purchased the night before - hardly time for me to cause wear and tear in that time.

The manager really didn’t want to exchange or refund (they didn’t have the same clic). Kept reiterating that they wouldn’t sell an item in that condition. In the end I managed to keep my cool and they agreed to a refund. I went straight away to Sloane to buy the clic. Couldn’t understand the fuss over such a small item that was clearly the fault of the store.

I’d say Selfridges and Bond are my main H stores. I used to go to Royal Exchange but they were very hard to build relationship with.

At least with Bond I know one of the managers (used to work with her years ago) so the relationship is forged a little easier!

Does anyone know what the availability of rodeo charms is like at NBS please? Have started visiting the store over the last few months and have had some good service for sourcing smaller items but as I’m new to the store, not confident enough to ask questions about quota bags or very sought after items yet!

Many thanks for the response and advice. I appreciate that it’s only a small item but I was just seeking a bit of intel on availability, as it’s quite a long journey for me to the store and I don’t have a particular SA as of yet.
