Jenni -- My mom has done a lot of reading on Alzheimer's. Just last week she was talking about how like 70% of cases ended up not really being Alzheimer's but are actually a lack of blood flow to the brain due to stroke or medication (?) and is highly treatable if caught. She was going on about some test she wished she'd had my grandma get. I wasn't paying close enough attention when she was talking so I'm grasping at the details, but I can ask her for the info again if you're interested.
MB -- Setting up the Cameo is super easy. You're going to have so much fun with it.
Thanksgiving was a bust. The turkey was too dry. I had practiced on breasts but my BIL got a whole turkey, it was enhanced instead of all natural, and I was using a new thermometer. The enhancing makes the brine not work as well and since I hadn't done a whole turkey before and the thermometer was new, I wasn't so sure of myself when my mom questioned the doneness and let her talk me into leaving it in. I wasn't happy with the stuffing either. I might do a turkey breast for Christmas to redeem myself.
My new puppy is ridiculous. She smiles a lot. I think it might really be a snarl, but it looks like a smile. She's been chasing the other dogs around, nipping, barking, and growling at them. She's just barely bigger than their heads and her bark is a silly little squeak, but I guess her tough attitude helps.
Rotten Violette escaped out the front door today and my prediction of her getting hit by a car and dying the first time she escapes out the front almost came true. I jumped in front of the car screaming to save her. She got scared and took off running and ended up cowering in a yard filled with angry dogs. At first she wouldn't let me rescue her and started to run away again. Then she crawled into my arms. My neighbor saw the whole thing and was chasing after us on the other side of the street and was freaking out at how dumb I am. I also fell while chasing her up the street and was a panicked, shaky, slightly bloodied mess when my neighbor caught up to us, I'm surprised that I held it together and didn't start hyperventilating until we got inside. We're lucky the driver of the car had good reflexes and decent brakes. I was in a sloppy Heisman pose trying to block the car with my arm/hand, because that would have worked and not just resulted in a broken wrist if contact was made.
