That sounds so delicious, Jenni.

I'm toasting my bread cubes for the stuffing right now. I somehow spent almost $200 at Whole Foods today on baking goods, herbs, spices, cheese, crackers, veggies, and hopefully something else.

^lol.

MT - your thanksgiving sounds yummy. Enjoy your vacation!

eek jenni - good luck with the grading - maybe you need lots of wine like Sally?

I'm excited about 4 days off. I may actually get the silhouette set up.

We've got no cooking responsibilities tomorrow - the car is full of booze. We may have to bring our own plates though.

Egads.:weird:
In-laws a little stressed.
Glad DH and I found the hidden stash of Jack Daniels
(They just spent thirty minutes tearing the kitchen apart, accusing each other of not putting the carving set back in its box last year... I walked up and pointed out that it was sitting, already out, on the turkey platter, right in front of them. God help us when it comes time to deciding if the turkey is done or is going to kill us.)

It did Sally! But this morning I had a heart to heart with them. FIL is super extreme type-A and isn't dealing well with MIL's early onset Alzheimer's symptoms. They're both wound so tight they burst into tears or yell at the drop of a hat. I talked to them about finding a support group or a cognitive behavioral therapist to work with them together. So many therapists these days specialize in aging related depression and anxiety... They should be able to find someone they like. And they were really appreciative of my little lecture (phew!) :sweatdrop:

Jenni -- My mom has done a lot of reading on Alzheimer's. Just last week she was talking about how like 70% of cases ended up not really being Alzheimer's but are actually a lack of blood flow to the brain due to stroke or medication (?) and is highly treatable if caught. She was going on about some test she wished she'd had my grandma get. I wasn't paying close enough attention when she was talking so I'm grasping at the details, but I can ask her for the info again if you're interested.

MB -- Setting up the Cameo is super easy. You're going to have so much fun with it.

Thanksgiving was a bust. The turkey was too dry. I had practiced on breasts but my BIL got a whole turkey, it was enhanced instead of all natural, and I was using a new thermometer. The enhancing makes the brine not work as well and since I hadn't done a whole turkey before and the thermometer was new, I wasn't so sure of myself when my mom questioned the doneness and let her talk me into leaving it in. I wasn't happy with the stuffing either. I might do a turkey breast for Christmas to redeem myself.

My new puppy is ridiculous. She smiles a lot. I think it might really be a snarl, but it looks like a smile. She's been chasing the other dogs around, nipping, barking, and growling at them. She's just barely bigger than their heads and her bark is a silly little squeak, but I guess her tough attitude helps.

Rotten Violette escaped out the front door today and my prediction of her getting hit by a car and dying the first time she escapes out the front almost came true. I jumped in front of the car screaming to save her. She got scared and took off running and ended up cowering in a yard filled with angry dogs. At first she wouldn't let me rescue her and started to run away again. Then she crawled into my arms. My neighbor saw the whole thing and was chasing after us on the other side of the street and was freaking out at how dumb I am. I also fell while chasing her up the street and was a panicked, shaky, slightly bloodied mess when my neighbor caught up to us, I'm surprised that I held it together and didn't start hyperventilating until we got inside. We're lucky the driver of the car had good reflexes and decent brakes. I was in a sloppy Heisman pose trying to block the car with my arm/hand, because that would have worked and not just resulted in a broken wrist if contact was made.

OMG MT! So glad you and Violette are okay! And the puppy sounds adorable. Does she have a name?

Thanks for the note about mis-diagnosed Alzheimer's... My mom actually referenced the same thing when I talked to her the other day, so now we really need to look into it. They may have already ruled it out, but we should definitely ask them.

My OSU (the other one) Cowboys led OU yesterday for the entire game, then lost in OT. I was on the floor by that time, slayed by two bowls of pinto beans with ham and too much cornbread lol. Today I tackle the grading... Two more weeks of classes, one of finals, and then a two week break. I'm teaching a J Term class starting Jan 2 so we can pay for a backyard this year. Sigh. I can rest in May, right?

Hope the HHHotties are recovering from all sorts of over-indulgence :D

Sad not to have an HH sale to look forward to this year...

Holy cow! MT, I am glad you and Violette are ok. Wow. Close call. :(

Jenni- I hear you about the absent Thanksgiving Sale... It's a good thing. I'm barely keeping my head above water right now and don't need the temptation.

I hope all HHotties had an awesome Turkey Day! :). I am thankful for so many things in life. I am thankful for all of you lovely and inspiring ladies. You have given me more inspiration, hope, and support than I deserve. You are all truly amazing. :)

Poppy had her first vet appointment today. She's 4lbs 14oz of pure attitude.

The play fighting is insane. I think it is mostly playing, but sometimes Vi gets crazy eyes and bares her teeth a bit much. They seem to actually like each other though.

What a cutie! Poppy and Violette, terrorizing the neighborhood badgers together!

(Wrigley is currently terrorizing the furniture, dining room chandelier, and any painting she can reach )

MT how cute! so tiny! Aw no towel on the steel table for her?

jenni - Wrigley always sounds like fun

We've had to go back to running Ash around with mylar attachment for the cat flyer. It works but I have to take it off and hide it in the fridge when we're done because otherwise he'll try to eat it. We're back to the toy becuase he'd decide that it was ok to jump up on me by wrapping himself around my torso. He slipped last week and now I have scratches. :(
