have you set a limit on the number of bags you will own?

I am a quality-over-quantity person. If I realize I have not been using this particular bag or falling out of love with it, I sell it to fund for something else. So far I have been sticking onto the one-out-one-in policy rather strict!

I don't have a set number. I do however have a certain amount of shelf space and I don't like my bags to be squeezed together. So if I want something new at this point, something else must go. I also like when there is some empty white space. I don't necessarily feel like people need to have tiny collections as bags wear out much more quickly that way. For me I like to have choices as long as it is neat and organized.

Same here. I don't have a number limit but I do have a space limit. Right now, my shelf space holds 16 bags, all high-end designer. It's not something I enforce vigilantly, but when I bring in a new bag I inevitably get rid of at least one to make space.

It took me a while to figure out my bag preference and I sometimes cringe at what was culled because they are considered holy grails by a lot of people. At least I didn't lose any money from these "mistakes" (thanks to Chanel's and Hermes' price increases). Right now I'm pretty happy with what I have.

I'm actually trying not to set a number for 2014, because then I know I'll break it. If I consciously set a bag ban, I'll definitely break it. That said, I definitely try to "purge" by selling bags I'm not using that much if I'm overwhelmed or wanting to buy something expensive. I'm also happy to say that I just got my dream Chanel - sold 4 great bags to purchase it - and I don't feel the need to even look right now. :)

I have not set a number, but when I feel like I have too many and start to get overwhelmed, I'll start selling. I don't give myself a limit because I think I would spend more if I did.

I always check my bags before I buy a new one, thinking, which ones have I used and which ones are tucked away in their dusties. I have around ten bags now and a lot of times I kind of just forget the others… I know! I don't know how that happens. I've recently bought a shelf for my bags and it's now near the door, so when I get ready I don't have to walk over to my closet anymore.

The other downside with owning lots of bags is if you're a lazy bum or busy(I'm both…) you won't find yourself changing bags that often and you probably will find one bag that wiil stand out as your fav. For me, the guilt is the worst, when I know I have bags that I'm not using and I still want more!

So now I go by one rule, 10 is my limit, one comes in, one goes out.
As harsh as that is, it's working.
If I find a new bag, I go over to my others and pick out one I could sell. If I want the new bag hards enough I will find one I can get rid of, and if I don't, I'll know the new one isn't worth it! :winkiss:

I will definitely feel overwhelmed if I were to own more than 10 bags. I just couldn't bear to see those beautiful bags sitting in the closet and not getting much use. I have 6 bags; I love them all and could not justify more bags as i am already guilty of not rotating my bags frequently. Along the way I had bought bags that does not suits my style and have since sold them. They are LV hamstead mm, LV alma pm in damier ebene and prada nylon with lambskin.

Im 27 and I think I finally found my style and want to stick with it as long I can. So with my style I have found some bag I want to get before I turn 30 :roflmfao: sounds weird but to me is not to have the newest bag or the it bag anymore. Is having the classic and timeless bag. And I want to feel and see the used of the bag. So yes I do have a wishlist and limit before I turn 30.

I can relate to you; at certain point there's a desire to own one iconic and timeless purse that we can carry for many many years. Good luck!

I like to have fewer handbags. I get a little anxious when I have too many to choose from. Silly!

Now I have four handbags, two clutches and one cross body. These feel like the right amount and I can change frequently with no upset.

I set it at 10 bags, but I'm WAY over. some bags, I don't even touch once in a whole year (a year goes by really fast, especially if most of them is a weekend bag, and not your work bag)

Ideally I think 6 would be the PERFECT number, If only I would stop buying more and I could part with what I have.

I Have My Limit Set At 10 Bags, Since I Will Be Going From A Rather Large Home To A Small Condo In Around 6-7 Months.

However, Today I Did Purchase A Rebecca Minkoff Satchel For $69.00 At Marshall's.

Well, this thread inspired me to look at how many bags I have and do a quick purge. I let go of 9 and kept 2 no-name purses, a backpack, a duffel bag, and my new MK and Coach purses. Plus I have another 6 that are collections more than practical.

I have a Coach tote bag and a Moschino satchel on the way, and I'm thinking I'll stop at about 4 more after that. I have blue, red, purple, silver/grey, and denim and I'm looking to add pink, black, Anuschka (which is brown) and something appropriate for rain. I've also tried to incorporate a mix of sizes and functions in there. I prefer small purses, but I'm recognizing the need for something a little larger sometimes. I'm trying to keep variety in size and color in mind as I select.

After that we'll see. It will probably become a rule of it has to fill a need or serve a purpose that none of the existing purses do.

Weekend bags -- 2 small cross body bags, 1 slouchy hobo/cross body bag, 1 laptop tote
Evening bag -- 1 clutch
Work bags -- 1 briefcase (for when I need to bring in my laptop), 1 every day bag

I don't have a black, brown, or "pop of color" bag -- so I'm still looking for 3 more to add to my collection. I am waiting until I can afford my first couple designer pieces because I am kind of over the whole Rebecca Minkoff, MBMJ, etc. tier.

Every time I think I'm in love with a bag, I fall out of love with it after a couple months of seeing it in the mall. Once I add a bag to my collection and actually start using it instead of staring at it in my closet with its tags on, then it's for keeps. I use it constantly and baby it for years.
